about me
I'm a young mother of two. I stay home with my little ones, a boy and a girl, and I'm starting my own business to help me battle my crafty addiction! Better to make things and sell them, than to make things that sit in the closet and never get used...

I've been bellydancing for over 4 years, and I love it.

I love to read and write, and I'm a fairly proliferate blogger. I love doing graphic design, and making websites (but I don't have the patience to run other people's sites, unless they ask me really really nicely!). I love to sew, though my kids are a little scared of my sewing maching. I love to take commissions for hats, costumes, and more.

My Blog

My new baby niece was born on January 23 - just about the same size as Tink. Head full of dark dark hair (her momma is like me with the dark, thick hair)

So adorable!

Is it weird that I almost cry when I watch the little video they sent, knowing that I'm not supposed to have any more babies? I hated being pregnant, I hated being sick, giving birth was not great - but that first baby cry - man, that brings me a very poignant feeling.

I hope that she and Tink are god friends.

Oh, and the song that my brother in law used for the video was 'What a Wonderful World' - and it's an appropriate song, but I can't help but think of dolphins and worlds being kersploded every time I hear Satchmo sing that song.

Most of you know I'm a big fan of pixel art, and in particular, pixel dolls. Well, this site has been one of my favorites for a long time - Dress Up Gamesat the Doll Palace!

I know a bunch of you guys like the TekTek Gaia avatars - and some of you like the Candybar style dolls - well, if you like those, you'll love this site. The Doll Palace has dozens of really great dollmakers, as well as hundreds of premade dolls you can use on websites, MySpace, in signatures - they have celebrities, themed dolls, fantasy dolls, holiday dolls, doll bases, guy dolls - seriously, a little bit of everything.

My favorite things there, though, are the doll makers. They have a Candybar doll maker, and a ton of others, and they all have really well done dolls and props. It really is worth your time to go and try it out.

And if you're the competitive type, they even have contests where you can enter the dolls you've created. If you have kids (or if you're like me and just like to color!) they have coloring pages, as well.

One feature of the dollmakers they have that I really like, is you can have the website email you the doll you created - that way you can easily get a copy of it, without having to open up a graphics program and print screen > paste > crop your image, just to save it.

Oh yeah, and if you register for the site (you can register for free), there are more dollmakers you get access to, plus you can join the forums and chat with other people who like to make dolls. And the forums aren't just about dolls - there's a forum for almost every topic!

So if you have a few spare minutes, go check out the Doll Palace...

I cannot WAIT until tomorrow when the Comcast Man will come by to fix our internet. For the last week and a half it has been up-down-up-down sloooooow like molasses. Very annoying to have to reload every page umptyzillion times.

I ended up entertaining myself by wiping my hard drive and now I'm reinstalling everything from scratch. Hooray for me.

And hey, my wisdom tooth is finally starting to not hurt. I very carefully poked the space where it used to be with my tongue and it feels all funny, buy definately healing. Yeys.

Oh, and we are now trying potty training again. Peter Pan has got the "holding" part down - he just has problems with the "going" bit - he has been holding it until bedtime and then going in his diaper. During the day, though, he's been keeping his big boy underwear clean! Oh, and he picked out some underpants, and he is DYING to wear his Thomas the Tank briefs, but we told him he can't until he goes in the potty. He was rather mad at me about that, but I think he's over it now. He actually too the packet of underwear to bed with him yesterday. >.<

I just keep reminding myself that someday he will use the potty, and if he asks me, then we're moving in the right direction. I think it was yesterday afternoon, when he came and did a little dance and said "momma, daddy, I needa potty!" - we ran and got him on the pot, and he peed like, 4 drops, then freaked out. But we're getting closer...

*goes crazy*

Remember how I mentioned that my cell phone has gone missing? Well, my beloved and trusty T-Mobile fuschia Razr has completely dissappeared. I can't find it anywhere.

I asked Peter Pan if he knew where it had gone (since he had been playing over by where I plug it in) - and all he had to say was "Uh-oh..."

I've looked for it, my husband has looked for it, his brother has looked for it - and come on, a hot pink phone is not that hard to spot... But it's gone.

Matt suspects that Pan may have dropped it into the diaper pail, and so my phone may be now residing at the dump, in a pile of baby poop. Poor phone.

At least we had Matt's old phone (it doesn't work with a headset very well, and it's kinda beat up, but at least it works!). The people at the T-Mobile store just gave me a new SIM card and activated it for me. But it's big and clunky and it has the old-skool midi style rings, no camera, nuffin. I have been so spoiled since I got that RAZR for a Mother's Day promotion.

I'm actually really partial to the Motorola phones now, especially since I got the Motorola connection software that lets me plug my phone in via mini USB to upload/download photos and music - I had a bunch of different mp3 ringtones for the different people who called.

So I was looking at 2 of the newest Motorola phones -

The Motorola KRZR K1 - this one is very similar to the RAZR in it's stylings, but it's slimmer across - the RAZR was skinny front to back, but actually a little wide from side to side - the KRZR is the skinny little sister, and is way slimmer than the original. It's a flip phone with camera that can play mp3s, as well. Nice little phone.

And then my personal favorite - the Motorola Z3 - It's a slider phone instead of a flip phone, and the thing I love is that you can access the phone's menus and call buttons from the outside, without having to flip it open - I noticed with my RAZR that 90% of the calls I made were all from my phone book, so I never really dialed anything unless I was calling a new number or using my voicemail - so if I'm out and my husband calls me, I can answer one handed instead of fumbling with the baby, the stroller, the toddler, the phone and the diaper bag! The bluetooth is cool, too, because it can connect to my Palm LifeDrive, and then I can dial anyone who is in my Palm's address book. It also has the one thing I wished my original generation RAZR had - a mini SD slot! My old phone would get all filled up with photos, and then I couldn't take more until I remembered to hook it up to my computer and download everything.

But yeah, I'm not even eligible for a new phone until May or June, so I'll use my old clunker, and save my pennies, and by then hopefully I can catch another Mother's Day deal on one of these awesome Motorola phones.
