You all hear about this? "A giant particle accelerator that mimics the effects of the Big Bang could destroy all life on Earth by sucking it into a black hole," a lawsuit claims.... read on: http://cosmiclog.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/03/27/823924.aspx Sounds like the plot from that bad Keanu Reeves / Morgan Freeman flick "Chain Reaction"... except this could destroy the whole world instead of just a city. This is probably one of those "just because you CAN do it, doesn't mean you SHOULD" sort of things. Lots of talk of "strangelets" (I think they're talking about antimatter), "creating tiny black holes" and "danger of touching off an artificial supernova" and such. Holy f##k. Just for, um, laughs (of the astrophysics sort) check out the link PDF of the document titled: "Study Of Potentially Dangerous Events During Heavy-Ion Collisions At The LHC" detailing several "doomsday scenarios" ... although the 2003 study concluded there was "no basis for any conceivable threat," how do they really KNOW. Do we really NEED to know what existed during the very first moment of the universe's existence, or, why do some particles have mass while others don't? Those are the questions the LHC is designed to help answer. Call me crazy... seems to me it's not worth risking all life on Earth for. We're all DOOOOMED mwahahahhaahahaaa!

Sunday the 16th was such a fun, epic day, I just wanted to re-live it in some small way. We didn't actually record the DJ sets, so I re-created and re-recorded my set to the best of my memory. (If we had recorded the live set, it would have featured a 2-minute gap where the power accidentally got turned off....) This mix essentially is a bunch of (mostly) brand new slammers that I knew Strawberry would like. She did, as it turned out. Full disclosure... this isn't the exact tracklist from the party. I didn't use some of the same tracks because I already used them in recorded mixes past. I just couldn't bring myself to repeat tracks, when there are so many perfectly good ones always coming out, that I hadn't used yet. If Tribe implodes suddenly

It's official: I rely too much on Tribe for social connection, to inform my friends of goings-on, DJ gigs, Pronoia events, etc. Time to admit it and take action. I get the feeling Tribe.net could simply vanish at any time. As useful and pervasive it has become for me in my life (and many of yours), there's no escaping the fact it may be barely holding on to existence. The random 2.5-day outage last week is a clear indication of that. In the midst of the Donut-out, I started to wonder if Tribe would never come back. That really got me thinking.
