RealGirl is the flame-approved glue that holds Burning Silicon together. She makes great things happen and our community is so lucky to have her. She has a flair for Playa fashion and is always warm and welcoming to everyone. She's beautiful, generous, ambitious and a great friend. Her fur is faux but this girl is real.

It has been wonky all weekend. They made some kind of "upgrade" that seems to have scrambled everything. Thank you all for your support & concern. The doctors determined that my mom was suffering a massive urinary track infection, and that on top of the liquid tylonol injection she received after her fall, probably both contributed to her kidneys shutting down. She regained some lucidity on Tuesday, and was released from the hospital late Thursday. So, that's the good news.

Some of you know that my mom has been a hypochondriac all these years, and that kind of history does not help me feel sympathy when she does actually get ill. It's a hard position to be in at times and I have learned over the years to not blame myself for not coddling her. Wow. I left for the playa on Aug. 28th, and spend the night in Reno on the way out (Monday, Sept 7th), so I got home in a happy/exhausted state last Tuesday. Hanging out with my family and drinking plenty o' mai-tais. Today we're taking a road trip to one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. Yesterday my nephew caught a 165-lb yellow fin tuna! For reals!!!
