My Brain
I just discovered Esopus
Fri, December 2, 2005 - 2:49 PMFollowing is cut from their website: www.esopusmag.com
"Esopus is a twice-yearly arts magazine featuring fresh, unmediated perspectives on the contemporary cultural landscape from artists, writers, filmmakers, playwrights, photographers, architects, designers, musicians, and other creative professionals. It includes long-form artists’ projects, critical writing, fiction, interviews, and, in each issue, a CD of specially commissioned music.
Published by the non-profit Esopus Foundation Ltd., the magazine has a simple editorial mission: to provide an accessible, non-commercial space in which creative people and the public can connect in meaningful ways."
AWESOME!

At first, I thought that "Esopus" was a derivation of "E sophos" (Latin: "Out of wisdom" or "From the wise"), but it turns out that it's a name of a creek in the Catskills, which in turn got its name from the "Esepu", a Native American tribe that used to live in the region.
Um, anyway, nice mag. |
