Rants of a Passionate Bear
getting off the Leather treadmill
Mon, March 26, 2007 - 6:04 PMThink about it--for every weekend away from home at some big event strutting about and fucking other wild beasts, we're spending several hundred dollars to a couple thousand, usually on credit. One buddy whose stepping down from a title soon said the last year year has put him deep in debt keeping up with the Leather Joneses! In my case, that's money I can better use to pay for grad school, save for a new home, or put into causes I care about like LGBT domestic violence and empowering people living with HIV.

I can fully understand your choice. I have seen men put out more money than I make in a month just to pay for a weekends fun. Then they do it Every weekend they can. I't kind of sick.

A wise choice
I fell out of the Leather community a while back. After living on the West Coast I found the East Coast to be much more about looks than character. I know that is a generalization, but it is what I experienced. Leather is supposed to be about BROTHERHOOD and TRUST, to know that your brothers have your back and you have theirs. Sex is a part of Leather, but it is so much more than that. And by "more than that" I am not referring to doing the curcuit or the bars every weekend. The fantasy and escapist aspect of Leather are really in control around here, and the loss of the connection (again my personal viewpoint) is a tragedy.
Red, you have made a choice that is right for you and I wish you all the best. The money will recover quickly, and you will be amazed that your Leather soul will prosper, not suffer. Peace |

I Agree
I have to totally agree. It was fun while it lasted. My buddy is going through the same thing. I am not naming names but he can tell you himself. I stopped doing all of them as well. It gets very expensive. It is great when you have the extra money but do not go over board. Hang in there buddy!

'Taking a break and seeing what is valuable is always good . Pleasure is always great and playing with people that you like is very exciting, but eventually it gets old and costly. Some people live for the thrill of chemistry from sex and drugs lol! If you have never seen the movie What the Bleep do we know ? Whatch it and remember that we can get high on chocolate too!
