Renfey and her partners in music gave a dazzling, heart-breaking performance at the San Diego DeCom party "Fuego De Los Muertos" on Oct. 22. I and another straight man watching the performance -- both of us stone cold sober -- were reduced to blubbering puddles of awe before the majesty of her stage presence. To give you an idea: she repeated the phrase "And I let you take me" several times in the course of one song -- but each time, by stressing different words in different ways, she delivered the line either like a meek virgin, a confident dominatrix, a jaded fuck-buddy, or an enamored life partner. And when she locks eyes on you -- forget it: you become a puddle. I feel truly blessed to have caught her act in such an intimate venue.
