about me
My name is Chris Brown, and my comedy name is "Reverend Chris" - I am the founder and dictator-for-life of a cutting-edge comedy troupe called SKETCH-22, which based in Washington DC, but has writers, fans and supporters from all over the USA. (Please check out our "Sketch-22 Comedy" tribe.)

I got my start in comedy in 1994 by answering an ad looking for people to write and perform sketch comedy. I was a founding sketchwriter and performer in a sketch troupe called The Perch in Charlotte, North Carolina,(www.theperch.com) where we wrote and performed a new hour-long sketch comedy show (approximately sixteen to seventeen sketches and songs) fifty weeks per year. I also wrote material for two other comedy troupes in Charlotte.

In 1995, I began writing a comedy column called "Ask Reverend Chris" for a Charlotte alternative paper, which gradually rose in circulation till it hit about 25,000. (Not exactly the Los Angeles Times, but my column did have a loyal readership.) The column lasted about two years, until the alternative paper went out of business. I also wrote comedy for three different web pages that are no longer in existence, including one run by an Emmy-winning comedy writer from the "Bill Nye The Science Guy" TV series.

From Bishop Timothy Price:

Thank You For Being A Friend
( Andrew Gold )

Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down a road and back again
Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant

I'm not ashamed to say
I hope it always will stay this way
My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow

And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend

If it's a car you lack
I'd surely buy you a Cadillac
Whatever you need any time of the day or night

I'm not ashamed to say
I hope it always will stay this way
My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow

And when we both get older
With walking canes and hair of gray
Have no fear even though it's hard to hear
I will stand real close and say
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend

And when we die
And float away
Into the night
The milky way
You'll hear me call
As we ascend
I'll say your name
Then once again

Thank you for being a friend

I have known Chris for 41 years and his "cult" is dangerous and insidious. He is a threat to everything American, and his anorexic, dour, pristine, far right ways are disturbing to those of us who want liberal lifestyles.

Plus his family is real bad news. Particularly the demon spawn avataric brother that may be the creature of dark for this generation. That Omega Ho Sophie may not have heralded the end of the avatar line. Check out his brother who probably should be named Justin instead of Charles.

His greatest sin of course is rescuing Charles from those who persecuting him as a youth and now the demon walks among us.

Incredible things come from the Capitol Beltway area: politicians and other high-profilers to be made sport of, Moonies, lobbyists, activists, witty & insanely intelligent folks named Chris...

Lord 'Topher, I proudly raise my coffee mug to thee. Sláinte!

I've known Chris for many years, we met while he was a performer at the Perch Theater, we decided we were both very fond of "Red Dog" beer, actually I was mostly fond of it, and he just appreciated my fondness.

He was always there when I needed him to bring my spirits up, and I admired him for his comedic writing and song parodies, thanks to Chris to this DAY when I hear a song on the radio, I here his LYRICS instead of the artist, though people probably look over from their cars and wonder why this women is laughing so hard to a Tom Petty song, I just want to yell to them "that's thanks to Chris!!"
