<div>For the past few weeks I have been stitching together a burningman camp from a few unaffiliated rouge agents, and am curious if anyone else is still looking for a camp. Right now there's about 5 or 6 of us, and we all have early arrival thanks to volunteering at center camp cafe. We have 1 gazebo and my lycra shade structure that I have been using for my chaishop all summer. We also have all the equipment we need, but any luxuries are appreciated. If anyone else is still looking for the right camp, send me a message and lets see if we can work you into our plan. </div>

										<div>
Tea Party! On Sunday, May 20th, from 5pm til late, come celebrate Amanda and Rico's one year anniversary of marriage.

This will also be our going-away party for the Ashara Project, our travelling teashop. At the end of May, we will begin a three month tour of the psytrance festivals of Europe. Our intention is to provide a divine sanctuary in which to chill out and share information away from the excitement of the festival.

The tea party will be hosted at Triptych Gallery &amp; Restaurant, 1155 Folsom (between 7th &amp; 8th). A $5 to $10 donation is requested.

Downtempo, chill trance, and psy-grooves provided by Cyril (Vaporvent), Garrett (Dreamtime), and Mycho Cocoa (Fringe Collective).

Entertainment includes hooping, juggling, a tribal marketplace with fashions and jewelry, and Triptych's rotating art gallery. Rico will engineer some culinary delights, and the bar will serve a succulent array of sake, soju, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks.

This will also be an opportunity to try the many teas of the Ashara Project, by the cup or by the pot. Admire our new yi-xing clay teapots and sample our very favorite black teas, white teas, green teas, pu-erh, and herbal infusions.

Hope to see you there!</div>

some things to do in 2007

<div>So, I have been sick the past few days, and am finally starting to recover. Being debilitated has given me some time to think about what I am doing with me life. Thoughts passed my mind such as "If I wasn't sick right now I would..." or "I would rather be in..". Anyway, spring is upon us, and I am ready to make the jump. Here's a public proclamation of a few goals for 2007.

1. Drive a car.
For the past 22 years I have gotten a subtle thrill from saying "I have never driven a car." It might seem somewhat foolish not to know how to drive, but it scares and confuses suburban whitetrash, so I have held steadfast to this simple truth. However, inevitable as it might be, the thrill is fading from this, like that of a desperate relationship with a hot paraplegic.

2. Learn some German
Time to speak some German! With English, Spanish, or German I should be able to navigate the terrain of Europe with some ease. Some people say German sounds hard on the ears. Truly, it is simply a powerful language! The might and strength of the language makes the soft-spoken English speaker tremble with fear!
Yeah, I think this could work!

3. See Kindzadza live
Alright, He has booked at 2 of the major festivals I went to last summer. Both of the times he canceled because he knew 2 Americans were there waiting to see them. This time I will dress up like a powerful finnish trancer, and confuse and bewilder this Russian madman and his twisted cyrillic alphabet. I will bedazzle him with runic charms of ancient power and might, and thusly he shall play for us long into the night.

Yeah, thats pretty much it for 2007. However, I'll do what needs to be done - whether it's these goals or not. I am sure of this fact.</div>

An Open Letter To the DJs, Promoters, and Party People of SF, Ca.

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/rickolas/blog/b696b00e-9dd8-4dfb-892c-b4b235245722"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/b8c/041/b8c0417f-c7b2-44a4-8336-8dfc6d3a2ca9.thumb" width="58" height="78" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>I like psytrance. It is short for psychedelic trance. What does the term psychedelic mean for you? For me, it's an expression of a concept that cannot be concretely put into words. It is a feeling, a sensation.
What initially attracted me to Trance was the overall completeness of the music as a genre. It provided moments of extreme clarity and unbridled ecstasy, and mind shattering epiphanies that rocked one's perspective. Tribal, Futuristic, Progressive, and Ancient. I STILL feel that trance has it all.

so why are you fucking with what I love?

Yes, you. I blame you. Please, get upset, react. I want to stir up your emotions, because it is only through acceptance of disorder that one can find peace.

Dark trance has the deepest and most innate abilities to change people's lives. Good dark trance is better than the best of any other form of music that I have encountered to this day.

But you can't do it all the time, and try telling that to the dark trance buttrockers that want to make it harder, faster, and more macho than anything before.

Hello people? This is what happened to Full-On, Drum-n-bass, Any form of Metal, Hardcore, Punk Rock, etc. I personally am just waiting for the Dark trance version of Skazi to fuck it all up... But people will probably still love it. I see a lot of second-tier DJs and promoters trying to make themselves heard by acting like dark trance is completely independent of all other forms of electronica. Alone, it has the same appeal as Goth music or Death metal.

and as for Goth music, pssh - I would rather listen to House (YEAH I SAID IT!)

I am not against the hard, driving intense music at all mind you. I like having that one or 2 DJ sets during the night to test and challenge my perception of what music is. To surprise, and enlighten! However, you can't have catharsis for 15 hours. Man, people work their shit out QUICK to trance. After a while - I WANT TO DANCE! I need to groove, I need to sway and shake and move. I can't do capoeira to dark trance! I cant sway and let my body be free. I can however, deconstruct myself and give in to the music.

But I am not a hardcore guy. I am not here to 'rock out with my cock out' - or so to speak. I am not a fluffy thing either. I am a fan of the darker side of humanity, because, as I said before, you must accept the disorder and suffering of the world in order to overcome it.

I am not saying that I don't like dark trance, I just feel that, as a specific tool in a diverse array of music, it is being used too frequently and without care. One might say 'this is what people what'. Then why are people dropping out of the trance scene EVEN STILL, and the amount of new recruits is far outweighed by those who have abandoned us? Even I feel my interest in the California Trance scene is fading as well. It's still the best we have here, but compared to elsewhere, it is sad. Come on people, California is home of the freaks, we are supposed to be the most forward-minded and self aware people in the country! Lets make this work for ourselves, so we can be proud to say that we go to California Trance parties!

And the fluffies are no better. Their sheer resistance to checking out a diverse form of music reminds me of people that say 'oh trance, I'm not into raves'. You must understand any topic to pass judgment. The same goes to the dark trancers. There is good progressive!
Not all progressive is blaring Ibiza-style synths and cheesy vocal samples.
Not all dark trance is over-processed minor keys and horror movie samples.
But if you play nothing but one style of music, you will encounter more of what you don't like. It'll make you jaded!

What is the solution? Re-integration.

A friend of mine once said to someone who was re-discovering dark trance, "Yeah, if I was listening to trance back in 2000, I would have lost interest too." We have entered a new paradigm of music, and instead of being afraid of what else there is, based on our limited knowledge, lets dive deep into what our collective worldwide culture is offering us. Aum Festival will probably make this whole argument obsolete, but why wait? Lets start having an open mind and practicing what we preach. I hope to leave this summer, and come back to a more complete trance scene. The time for talk is over, let us act on what we know is right, and what will make our parties the most amazing out of any on the planet.

Hyperdrive Accelerator to Skinny Puppy doesn't seem quite right....

Thank you,

<div>Alright, you really want to know:

1. My dad is recovering vietnam vet / drug addict who suffered a complete corprorate work-world breakdown 5 years ago. Overall though, he's a cool guy.

2. My mom is a dead crack addict who I haven't seen since I was 8. I found out last summer that she's been dead for a few years. I dont know where she's buried. Overall though, she was a cool lady.

3. I first saw crack when I was 8. I walked into the kitchen when my mom was blazin hops.

4. I love cooking, but here's why. when i was about 10 or 11 I stayed home and baked a chocolate cheesecake. My brother didn't want any, neither did my dad. I ate the whole thing by myself.

5. I was kicked out of catholic school when I was 16. I could name why, but I would prefer to avoid detailing felonies online.

6. When I was 16, I was arrested for vandalism and forced to perform 'graffiti abatement' for 2 months. We spent saturday mornings crusing around covering graffiti around SF. FUCK CHUCK!

7. I have done porn... yep.

8. I really enjoy the darker side of human nature. One cannot appreciate the light without venturing through the dark. My favorite serial killer is Andrea Chikatilo, who admitted to killing over 50 people, and eating thier corpses... among other things. My favorite movie is a split between visitor Q, and the holy mountain. Try googling any of these films.

I hope I've frightened a few of you.

hopefully: Nora, Dr. Spook, Lil' B, Alex, Celine, Hoshi</div>

<div>Now that I have your attention....

Some of you may be aware of the recent talks that have arisen surrounding my plans to leave the US. I feel that today is the day to solidify my intent, and state that this is a fact. I am leaving for Barcelona.

Why? Because it is part of the hero's journey. In every myth, the hero must leave what no longer satisfies him and reach some insurmountable goal. Once reaching said goal, after facing whatever challenges lay in his path, the hero recieves some sort of blessing from the gods before his victorious return.

Myths are analogous to life, and this is where I am currently at.

Originally, the plan consisted of getting a student visa from the consulate so that I will be able to work once I arrive, but that is now looking impossible since my parents are refusing to assist in any way whatsoever. There is a possibility that I may recieve some financial assistance once I arrive, but I realize that one must create thier own life. I had a rather unpleasant visit with my dad today, and I realized why i ran away from home in the first place 5 years ago. Being a free spirit isnt easy, especially when everywhere you look, there are traps waiting to ensare you. I am not leaving because of them, or you, but because of myself.

The current plan consists as such:
Both myself and Guillermo (yes, he's coming too), will leave early to mid July for mexico. Once we cross the border, I dont return to the US until he does. After we arrive in Mexico, we will relax for a few weeks, brush up on my spanish, check out some parties, and ultimately wind up in Mexico D.F. Our flight will leave the first few days of august, and then we will arrive in Lisbon, Portugal for Boom. Using gypsy powers, we will find ourselves at boom for the next week. - a fine way to celebrate our collective arrival in Europe. After boom, we will check out utopia, and possibly a few more festivals afterwards. Using the synchronistic powers of the universe, connections to new friends in Barcelona will be established during these festive times. We should arrive in Barcelona by september, and the chef program which I plan to enroll in begins in October. Once enrolled, I should be able to get a visa. As for guillermo, he will become the mystic flight attendent. Together, we will do our part to spread cosmic consciousness to new fertile fields, and likewise be inseminated by the seeds of foriegn doctines.

Many of my friends know I can be a wild, fun, and silly guy at times, but also, that I only make statements as drastic as this when I mean them.

the past belongs to the dead, the future belongs to nobody. all that we truly own is this moment. lets be in it, what do you say?</div>

<div>It's funny what emotions moving brings up.

I am moving into a roommate situation on thursday, and started packing my belongings tonight. As I think about the past moves that I've made in my short life, it brings up some powerful emotions.

One has to understand where they come from in order to appreciate where they are. When I moved into my tiny, overpriced, hot, dark studio on sutter street a year ago I was ecstatic. I was homeless for the previous month, after my last roommate situation ended. It ended quite unpleasantly, as each of us blamed another for our mutual dissatisfaction. In the past year I quit poisoning myself with various drugs (nothing too interesting, just pot, liquor, sugar, and coffee), undertook the practices of capoeira and yoga, ended a long and painful relationship, ended many draining 'friendships', found a job that I actually enjoy, and basically continued to grow up. But as I look back, I cant help but remember that I felt similar emotions during the last times I moved. I keep thinking that I've come so far, when in reality, I still have a long way to go.

I remember the first apartment I had. I shared a studio with my good friend Bryan. I was homeless for the prior 6 months, and had just turned 17. Bryan had promised a japanese girl that she could stay with us during the first month when we moved in. Not wanting to be intrusive, I made myself at home in the walk-in closet.

But I was happy. A 4x6 space after being homeless seemed like a little piece of heaven. Something I could call mine, after having nothing.

Maybe this studio shares the same emotional significance as that tiny, cramped closet. I know I feel the same way, leaving a tiny piece of security to the world of shared responsibilities and community, But I'm ok with that, and overall, I'm excited to see where I go from here.

hope my blog doesn't draw up cheesy emotions for anyone reading it, this is my first post.
