I'm a so-called "Army brat" and a U.S. military veteran - a decorated "Cold Warrior" if you will - a professional linguist and translator, a passionate writer and independent scholar. I've been a perpetual student since I can remember and always somewhat obsessively creative. I'm an information sponge with a non-stop mind to the chagrin of those close to me. They sleep soundly knowing it costs me any sort of quality sleep of my own. I love books and movies about equally and can usually be found spending my last dollar on an arm full of new or used books and DVDs despite the fact I've not eaten in days. It seems I've traveled most of the world as I was growing up and through my own military service. I'm perpetually happiest somewhere other than where I am. I've lived in the northwest U.S. since 1994 and, true to form, I'm currently looking for a means of escape.
