Where do I start? Rita is fantastic and has a good spirit! She is a giving, caring instructor and friend. She has great energy on stage. And I respect and love her as a student and friend....she is always striving for more in her dance knowledge, she never gets diva, and is constantly improving on every level. She is a genuine person in every way and I am very lucky to have her for a friend, student and troupe manager! Not to mention, she's just plain fun!

Alas, feast your eyes on my DELICIOUS Raw Beet-root Ravioli! (see photo) I'm thrilled that I was able to replicate the taste of the posh restaurant dish (after a few tries) ... particularly because this raw dish was something that you wouldn't need to "acquire" a taste for. From my point of view, some raw food recipes takes time to get used to. Don't even ask me about my raw chocola... read more
So, I was successful growing the wheatgrass! Yeah!!! BUT, I grew way too much... (there's only so much wheatgrass juice one can take ;) ... anyways... ) AND, I eventually wound up over-watering and killing my wheatgrass "harvest". Such a bummer!

Here's a short summary of the lastest and greatest related to my life and experimentation with raw or living food. So far it has been pretty fun... :) Just the other day I received my wheatgrass kit in the mail ... and today I peaked and the tray of sprouted seeds and see that it's working! I sprouted the wheat berries on Monday, then planted them on Tuesday and covered them until today ... I can see that my wheatgrass is growing! Take a look at the picture... Yay! A... read more
I'm back from an amazing trip to Stockholm! This was the second time I attended the Stockholm Belly Dance Festival and it was a great experience! This annual Belly Dance festival offers oriental dance workshops, theme classes with guest teachers and three nights of belly dance shows.

I took workshops from key people that I admire: Mahmoud Reda, Tito, Khaled, and Leyla from Egypt. I really wanted to take workshops with other Egyptian dancers, but there was just not enough time ... plus,... read more
What an amazing weekend! Not only were the Shoshanna workshops a lot of fun, but I learned a lot too! It was great to learn more on Turkish belly dance and get some new four yard veil technique. :) Technique on Sunday was pretty cool ... and it was great to get a different 'flavor' on a drum solo choreo. The only drawback to the weekend was that I had thrown my back out earlier that week and I was still in a bit of recovery mode. Yeah, I know... not the wisest thing to do (dance and per...
