Where do I start? Rita is fantastic and has a good spirit! She is a giving, caring instructor and friend. She has great energy on stage. And I respect and love her as a student and friend....she is always striving for more in her dance knowledge, she never gets diva, and is constantly improving on every level. She is a genuine person in every way and I am very lucky to have her for a friend, student and troupe manager! Not to mention, she's just plain fun!

I'm back from an amazing trip to Stockholm! This was the second time I attended the Stockholm Belly Dance Festival and it was a great experience! This annual Belly Dance festival offers oriental dance workshops, theme classes with guest teachers and three nights of belly dance shows.

I took workshops from key people that I admire: Mahmoud Reda, Tito, Khaled, and Leyla from Egypt. I really wanted to take workshops with other Egyptian dancers, but there was just not enough time ... plus,... read more
What an amazing weekend! Not only were the Shoshanna workshops a lot of fun, but I learned a lot too! It was great to learn more on Turkish belly dance and get some new four yard veil technique. :) Technique on Sunday was pretty cool ... and it was great to get a different 'flavor' on a drum solo choreo. The only drawback to the weekend was that I had thrown my back out earlier that week and I was still in a bit of recovery mode. Yeah, I know... not the wisest thing to do (dance and per...

After my trip to Greece I had three days home and then I was off again. This time to Tokyo ... one of my very favorite places to visit! I was thrilled to see Mishaal during my trip ... I took at class, had some private lessons and even attended a hafla there. I always enjoy meeting up with Mishaal ... chatting with her and learning from her is always a delight. After each visit, I go home inspired and revived with a new perspective on belly dance. I... read more
Alas! I'm back from Greece! What a trip that was... I went on business but was able to add in some sightseeing. Here I've posted a picture I took at the Acropolis. It was amazing! I was also able to squeeze in some belly dancing and took a class from Rhea. It was a lot of fun! I also bought some Greek wool and am looking forward to crocheting a blanket for myself. :) It was a lot of fun to tour the city and meet people. I also bought worry beads made of granite ... I learned that the...

Well, I decided to improvise a dance with the 4 yard veil after a business trip to Tokyo. When I travel to Japan I always make it a point to take classes & privates from Mishaal (she's awesome!) and when I was there last I had struggled improvising with the veil. It was sooooo uncomfortable and I felt like I was handling it like it wa... read more
