Gnossienne Veil Dance at Aneena Show
Fri, November 30, 2007 - 12:39 AMWell, I decided to improvise a dance with the 4 yard veil after a business trip to Tokyo. When I travel to Japan I always make it a point to take classes & privates from Mishaal (she's awesome!) and when I was there last I had struggled improvising with the veil. It was sooooo uncomfortable and I felt like I was handling it like it was a rag!! (Even though I learned 4 yard veil technique from Chellcy ... it was very difficult for me to 'feel' the music and make an improvised dance with the darn thing!) It felt like a fiasco!!
Amidst my frustration, I saw opportunity ... I decided that it would be my goal to improvise a performance with 4 yard veil. I was inspired to dance to Gnossienne after Shoshanna danced to it in an amazing performance when Chellcy sponsored her for workshops & a show in Chicago. (It's such a beautiful piece of music!)
I took another business trip where I got to add in some Belly Dance time ... this time in New York where I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to work with Dalia Carella for her input an guidance for making my dance dynamic.
It was quite a journey, and now that I've done it ... I have to say that, all in all, I am pleased with how this performance turned out. :) Many thanks to everyone who supported me and/or cheered for me!
