roger is one of the most genuinely kind, open and honest people i know. talking to him has helped give me the confidence to make some really difficult decisions in my life, and he's been there to support me through the process.
he gives really, really good hugs.
he is committed to the important things and people in his life in a way that makes me both proud and inspired.
he has beautiful twinkling eyes, and i really like hearing him laugh.

Roger Lai is one of the most amazing poi spinners I have met and an incredibly magical person. Since meeting Roger, I have been more comfortable and confident. I love you Roger! Fireplug

Called the Godfather of Poi by some, Roger's knowledge of the fire community is vast, and he is more than happy to share information and show off and instruct upon new moves he's picked up on his eclectic tours of the world (he gets around =P). He has some of the tightest planes I've ever seen, and the ability to fluidly execute complex moves, and make it look like child's play.
He's also a badass snowboarder, whooshing down the slopes in a blizzard, stopping to make sure the rest of us sprawled on the snow are okay, and continuing down out of sight.
Friendly, kind, generous, educated, eclectic, and all kinds of fun, Roger is a pleasure to know, and I'm proud to call him friend.
*hugs*

Roger wants me to tug hard on my chain before I dip it.

woot woot for roger! roger brought me the most awesomest flash gordon poster from thailand. it rules and everyone should be jealous of me. ha ha. also, roger is the only person i can truly express the depth of my poi-geekery to. we talked about poi on the phone the other day for two hours. i'm not kidding. aside from the poi geekery god that he is, he's also one of the easiest, funnest people to hang out with... in fact, i don't know why i don't hang out with roger more often! oh yeah, i remember, it's because he's always in another country!!!! arg. anyways. go roger go!

If Roger still dressed the way his mother dressed him, he'd have a bowl hair-cut, dress slacks and a button-up polo shirt *done to the top button*. But he'd still be hot.

Roger is a very nice and talented man. He's hot with his flamming POI, and always in-the-know about upcoming events. He's an honest and decent guy, and is very helpful in sharing tips regarding...well, most anything relevant. Roger is sincere and full of integrity, which makes his friendship a precious thing.

Roger is the whozitz, the shizitz, and the whatchamacallitz. He IS Da Bomb. Roger is somebody else!
Okay since I posted about the show before, I feel I probably should have posted the final results. A skinny 14-yr old self-taught dancer who looks a lot like ICON won the contest. He basically got all the sympathy votes because this was his second year on the show, he's poor and worked really hard to get here, blah blah blah. Never mind that his dancing was a lot of improvised flailing around rather than a tight choreographed routine. I suppose as something of an improvisational dancer my...

Alright... since I've admitted that I watch Britain's Got Talent once in a while, I might as well link to the BEST of the acts: Signature.
The original Audition:

The Semi-Final:

And of course the whole reason I started watching the show was that I saw this clip on YouTube one day:

I've just realized that maybe I have a soft spot for acts involving Mic...

This is Hoop La La's semi-final performance on Britain's Got Talent.
Not the best hoopers I've ever seen, but VERY entertaining, especially the surprise ending.

I tried to set up tribe chat with Adium on my work Mac... and it warns me that the password would be sent as plain text over the network. Whuh?!? No thanks, Tribe. I don't understand why they're wasting their time setting up their own IM system anyhow, when there are already so many out there.

I'm starting a new job tomorrow (Tuesday) with [sound a cow makes].com (if you're a Flickr user, you know who we are). The whole process has moved very fast, and I'm very excited about working with such a great bunch of people. The commute's going to be painfully long (1.5 hrs each way on trains in good weather), but we'll probably move at some point to alleviate that. The job is such a great fit for me, though, in so many ways... in terms of my career, the people I'll be working with, the...
