Russell and I went to see the film last night. The cinematography and visuals were just stunning. Being Hollywood it was more of an adventure movie than anything else. But the casting was brilliant and I found it quite engaging.

So - is my daemon really a tiger?! If the video thingie doesn't work this is the direct link.
I suppose I should do a real entry since I just posted a silly meme. :-) I had a nice weekend. Friday I napped, ran errands and spent time inworld. Saturday more of the same plus going to my office holiday party which was at an excellent restaurant and the folks at my table were fun. Sunday I did my usual meetings inworld and then went to the Northern California Where's George? Association holiday party at Tony & Alba's. I saw lots of friends and swapped some bills and went home and spent most of the rest of the afternoon inworld. I made a holiday card to send out with the many cards I wrote over the weekend (but it seems a little early to post it here).

In breaking news, we are replacing our dying floor furnace. They start working on giving us central heating today. Why just imagine that: warm air blowing into every room! They are supposed to be finished by Friday. And the gas isn't supposed to need to be off until Thursday. As the temperature is in the mid-30s, I hope that is true! Not to mention - gas stove, gas dryer, gas waterheater. As one can see by my "music" tag on this and the last post, today my copy of An Even Scarier Solstice V2 came and I am enjoying (for some value of enjoy) the songs. *grin* 1. Go to the Wikipedia home page. Select your native language and click Random article. That is your band's name. 2. Click Random article again; that is your album name. 3. Click Random article 15 more times; those are the tracks on your album. My band is pretty ecletic and I have no idea who to say the name! So I "deactivated" my Facebook account. Apparently it is not possible to actually get one's information off their system

Your Facebook account has been deactivated. To reactivate your account, simply log in as you normally would, and we'll send you a reactivation email. Come back soon, The Facebook Team And Note: Even after you deactivate, your friends can still invite you to events, tag you in photos, or ask you to join groups. If you opt out, you will NOT receive these email invitations and notifications from your friends. I opted out. But really. I am just disgusted with the whole thing. My missive on why I left: I find Facebook useless, cluttered and the plethora of "applications" ridiculous. The beacon tracking thing was just the last straw. And the idea that people can contact me after I deactivate *really* steams me. I want my information gone from your system. PERIOD. Do not track me, do not harass me with emails. One of my beefs is that your emails are content-free and just a way to get eyes to advertisers. Other sites give much better emails so one can evaluate whether a colleague is trying to contact one or if someone merely wants you be become a vampire. So I am gone. Can one of you who is still there see how much information about me is still visible? I delinked my Lj before I left, but I wonder how much remains. Thanks.
Well, your prayers and mine that I wouldn't need thyroid surgery seem to have been effective. The barium swallow showed a lot of refluxing and so the current thinking is that I can't swallow because of how eroded my esophagus has become. So I'm back on proton pump inhibitors, Prilosec for the moment but hopefully Aciphex soon if the *#&$& pharma coverage will pay for it. We'll know in a couple of weeks if that symptoms start to abate that that was, indeed, the problem. And I'm back on the acid restriction diet. *sigh*

And just because I have gotten addicted to posting a picture with each entry, here is a Calvin & Hobbes-like snowpeople tableau in SL. I have been looking for them lately. And other winter things. For someone who avoids snow in RL, I am having an awful lot of fun wandering around in it in SL. And, of course, I can ice skate there. I do mean to go try to ice skate at the downtown ice rink IRL. But there is always the fear that I will fall and my back will go out and put me back in the chair. That kind of limits the joy. I miss being able to fly over the ice without a care the way I did in high school. originally published at Rowan's Round of Days

about me
I'm a mystic and a scholar and a priestess, a lover and a parent and a librarian. I am a Wiccan. By that I mean that I am a Priestess in a European earth religion which honors a pantheon headed by a Goddess and her Consort. In addition to the Goddess of the Wicca (Her name is not spoken among non-initiates), I am a Daughter of the Flame and an FOI-ordained Priestess of Brighid. I am a Priestess of Dionysos. I seek to vitalize my own life and the lives of those around me by living in harmony with Mother Earth and by remaining open to the numinous touch of the Otherworld.
