So much to update about! Rainbow in Wyoming, new computer, lover, living space! Here we go. Yeah, so I got a new computer in a good way, and I love it. I got the new Macbook Pro 2.6 Ghz with multi-touch (gestures) and a speedier hard drive, and suped up video card. WHOO HOOO! back in business. I re-started my mac business, Mac Daddy Computer Consulting! and made a new business card. Hope you like...I love having fun with Macs. I guess thats the theme of the new card. Its been fun. Life is right? Lets keep it thattaway.
Rainbow.... Wow it was a great one this year. It all started out a little rough, when we all got pulled over and harassed heavy by the Forest Circus (Forest Service) Law Enforcement Officers (L.E.O.s). It was almost dawn and we had been driving all night. We were stopped for not having a license plate light, sniffed down by the dogs, searched, and charged with having marijuana. We all had medical marijuana scripts and feel as though we were searched illegally. Anyway, I was also incarcerated (arrested and jailed) for a warrant stemming for a ticket I received at the U.P. of Michigan gathering for (participating in an illegal gathering on public land. Which is ridiculous when you look at the 1st amendment of the Bill of Rights.
First Amendment â Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
I was taken into custody driven 2-3 hours and booked into the Rock Springs Correctional Facility. I was put in the holding cell, a 10ft x 4ft cinderblock room with a metal toilet and concrete bed. Now thats comfort! I requested some blankets and promptly went to sleep. I hadnât slept in way too long.
A few hours later I was awoken by one of the intake officers, and told to sign a paper saying my charges had been dropped. Hooray! I promptly caught a ride into town only to realize the jail had not returned my ID with the rest of my property. I found another quick ride towards the jail and made friends with the driver. He said he doesnât really pick up hitch-hikers and had pulled over before he even had a chance to think about it. MANIFEST! So he offered a ride back to Rainbow, and we got my ID and headed out. I saw family on the road and managed to call them and get a ride with them, and let the nice fellow in Rock Springs get back home. What an ordeal for a bull-shit charge anyway.
Rainbow was really incredible (check out the Slideshow) other than that, and it was for me maybe a blessing to get locked up at first, because it made the rest of the gathering so special. I was so thankful to be out on the land, living tribal, on the beautiful land we call America, which I love so much. Turtle Island perhaps. And relating that to the jail experience, It was so incredibly easy to see the dark in the system, and the light in the land and those who live with it, or desire to, and work towards that goal. But the system doesnt want it that way, and thats why they crack down on Rainbow so hard. Free thinking and sustainability are major threats to power and profit.
Also later in the gathering the police (L.E.O.s) came in to antagonize, and eventually brutally attacked a peaceful crowd. On July 3rd, during main food circle, L.E.Os opened fire, with pepper spray like powder rubber bullets, on a crowd of Rainbows at the Childrens area, Kiddie Village They did so without warning or clear explanation of what type of rounds were being fired, or any regard to the safety of the Children. Many individuals running away with their kids were shot with the chemical warfare devices. Also many Rainbows thought that live rounds were being fired, and people were being killed, creating a very dangerous psychological scenario. Scary! The police claim that the Rainbows were attacking them. Not So! It started when one older rainbow, apparently with a warrant, got up and ran away. Please Check it out on the web, and on youtube, And share it with your friends. Rainbow does not deserve torture from Federal officers. U.S. Out Of Rainbow!
Anywho.. Enough of all that.
I was delighted to spend the gathering with a wonderful lady, Amber, whom I met in San Francisco on the way back up here, shortly before Rainbow. I was headed north, home (Humboldt), from Lightning in a Bottle, and got delayed in San Francisco for a few days on business. I finally got all that done, and posted a ride to Arcata from the Bay area on Craigslist.org. I got a few flakes, and met a nice guy on the Haight who needed a ride, and this girl Amber. We dropped bro off in Santa Rosa and headed North to Dylan and Ginaâs place outside of Willits. Amber and I snugged, and in the morning talked for hours and started the connection. Wow. Didnt know it was gonna be like that. So were still diggin each other a lot, and have a real deep connection. She knows how to have fun, and is a good communicator, 2 crucial elements for a girl of my fancy. Plus, we dont need each other. A HUGE plus. She is really talented, as a jewelry maker, and glass blower, and seems to be good at whatever she wants to do. I love it! Amber is from New York, a favorite spot of mine, and sheâll be going back there this weekend I think. Shes got some ends to wrap up there, and then plans to move out west to Nor-Cal, to live it up. Sounds like a good time and I hope to be present in that. We shall see, but it looks good. Great actually. Mwwa to you Amber. All Love.
Amongst other good news, after the last few weeks of living out of my car, I found a great living situation in Trinidad. No rent. Just care-taking. Im really close to Strawberry Rock and a short distance to the beach as well.
Super stoked!
So Thats about it. Oh yeah. Check out Lightning in a Bottle if you havent allready. One of the best festivals Ive ever been to in 11 Years of Festy hopping! And Im bummed I missed Shambhala Music Festival in BC this last week. I know its a great one too. Ill try harder next year. But I WILL be making it to Burning Man. Anyone Else? Give a holla!
