well, here it comes. at long last. 15 years past I heard about this cool party in the desert, and now I get to sign the rediculously populated "i'm going to BM '08!! I know a few of us are going this year, and It is my honour to say that I would love to collaborate with some folks for travel down there. I will be attempting a very zen and light journey. So anyone with suggestions, anecdotes etc, relating how this is possible I would like to hear. I am very very excited to be taking this on. Going to burning man will be the biggest adventure of my life thus far, Since I have never been so far in distance, or really away for so long!! and this is burning man... a tremendous journey once you GET there. So wOOt!!!!! and let the games begin!!!

I would like to invite folks to come hang out on Christmas hill for the eclipse. My house is just a short wamder from the summit of this underappreciated little look-out. so if you care to , make your way to 850 Mckenzie Ave.. thats the next driveway on your right past St Andrews school its a sharp corner so be careful, you might want to put your signal on when you see the school.. its also a twisty turny driveway so honk if you want to if you are on bus, please take the #6 or #26, get off at mckenzie and head left down Mckenzie. otherwise if you know your way up Christmas hill we will be up there around 6:30 till 7:30 warm drinks will be on hand!

I want someone who already goes, or Really wants to go.. who would be willing to join forces in going all the time.. like every time sort of thing.. i really like the idea of doing tai chi... so if thats something someone might be into... i am having an effervescent moment and wanted to share it with you... Life is so amazing That we are AT ALL is enough to make me cry sometimes, let alone all the things we are capable of. and for it all to have come to this... Our world is beyond debate spinning in a strange direction.. and sometimes i wonder if our leaders will see the true dangers in time. Despite this truth there are so many people who dream and love and reach, one can not ignore the hope that instills. Moments that i have experienced while in the arms of our community have warmed my soul and inspired my mind. there is so much abundance of the truest wealth and prosperity in every directon. The variety of skills possessed by the collective being of which we are all expressions shall preserve us in the face of any disaster. Not to mention the tremendous talent that is present in the "good times". the boys and girls that throw their hearts bodies and souls into bring us together in celebration in a safe and cohesive way.. truly a blessing.. I love you all and our acceptance and appreciation of one another is an act of natural beauty and devine creation.. where ever we are in the world right now and whatever is in our minds eye... blessed be

So, I must finally admit to myself first, then to everyone else, that Burning Man is just not in the cards right now.... I have so many other things that i need to do, that i have been unsuccessfully trying to ignore. I needs must put away childish things for the now and focus on my well being. I would rather start planning now for burning man '08 and get there in good physical and mental shape, than get into a frenzy going there this year and not feel good about it. I feel that some of my motivations for going have not been authentic or altogether wholesome. For certain I wish to go and experience the awe and celebration of the festival, but there is an element of pride and prestige that i am covetous of and i am not pleased by this. I am also known to get into the state of I wanna go cause all my friends are going.. and though this is not in and of itself a bad thing, It is not healthy to want to put all of my life on hold to satisfy it, in fact a wonderful quote that i always try to apply to such matters goes: Is it better to satisfy a thousand desires or to resist just one. In any case, the more i think about it the more turmoil is brought about but everytime i come to the place of "its ok, it'll be there next year, i am filled with relief and peace. so that about does it. I am sad to miss yet another year of this amazing earthshaking, earthshaping phenomenon... but I will live.

Hello my friends. so, home i am.. and soo glad. what an adventure Denny Island has been. I am so greatful to the universe for that experience. but now I must look into the future and decide what my course shall be, at least, as much as we can ever decide. yesterday was my 30th birthday,and i can't help but feel as if something is going on inside of me.. a change of sorts, I want to find a system, or pattern to put into action! we shall see how it all works out.. I hope to see everyone soon

Finally, after the weeks of endless grey and cold and wet,,,, it has finally decided to shine and bask us in merciful warmth. how i love the dear old sun. I hope this continues, and i am glad to hear reports from some of you about nice weather at home.. i cant wait!!! I shall be kissing the earth of my wonderful home around the 19th.. just in time for me b-day!! I am officially homeless now i think, so if any of you have crash space or house-sitting or available rooms etc. please keep me informed. As always, i love and miss you all

Life in the wilds

So, tragedy has struck in our little communtiy. Over the last week or so there has been a sudden surge of bear activity in town, at least two young males have been frequenting the rubish bins around town and had started to linger on porches and at the doors of homes etc. and at 3:30 am last night conservations officers were forced to shoot down both of these beautiful lost critters. I ask all of you my friends to say a little prayer for our two furry cousins. Sigh.

Hi folks Thanks for looking in on me I just wanted to say that life is great here in Shearwater, it is everything that a village of 120 people on an undeveloped island 4 times the size of saltspring in the middle of the north coast should be! it is quiet, nice people, no traffic, 3 stop signs, plenty of frighteningly fresh bear poop, lots of beer drinkin, and on the few clear nights i have seen LOTS of Stars... I recomend anyone who can muster the courage to come up here. its a bit of a trick finding your way but BC Ferries and Pacific Coastal Airlines have ways up here. In fact the ferry terminal is right outside my back door!!! I really miss everyone and almost everything in Victoria but I will be here untill end of sept at least! so write me an E-mail or even better some real mail My addy is as follows Ryan Hentges General Delivery Denny Island BC V0T 1B0 I look forward to any word from you my lovely friends. well kindred, I am at my fathers house, safe and sound. Tomorrow is my big day!! flying up to Shearwater to try this new gig. I really want to thank everyone who has helped me out over the last few weeks this is the craziest thing I have ever done. I am so excited i am almost peeing my pants I love you all so much, and i will think of my home and family often and fondly. and thanks for making my going away party a truly special time.
