about me
Full time electronics tech, part time student, all the time dancer. I've been studying dance for about 6 years and now I'm to a point that I can't imagine life without bellydancing. I'm interested in all forms, from all regions, and love to know more about where they came from as well as who and why they did it. I am an SCA member and enjoy participating in SCA events. I'm a geek who loves to read and watch the history/discovery/sci-fi channels. I'm way too busy for myself, but I can't stand to not be... If I slow down I'll just sleep ALL the time. I love my family and my friends and really enjoy spending time with them! I love to go out and just dance for hours, until my body is just moving all on its own..

C.A.R.D. Grand Opening Open House and Jalsah! (events » live music) Saturday, February 21, 2009 - 4:00 PM 2 RSVPs Charlottesville Area Rhythm and Dance is opening a new studio on the historic downtown mall in Charlottesville, Virginia!

We will be continuing to offer classes in Drumming and Dancing in several different forms in our new space, and more new classes will probably be popping onto the radar soon.

In honor of our new space, which we love, we are holding an open house from 4pm to 6pm with people there from all of C.A.R.D.'s affiliated groups, such as Drum Call, Chihamba, Min el-Jbal el-Zarr'a, and Moua Vahine. Teachers from the drum classes will be available to answer questions and chat! There may even be dancers there doing their thing.

At 7pm, we are hosting a Jalsah! Bring your drum, bring your hipscarf, bring your instrument, but most importantly, bring yourself!!! Come join us and jam a while. This is a great way to meet other local musicians and just jam and let the music go where it will. For dancers this is an awesome opportunity to dance to live music! No pressure, no performing, just fun!

We are now located on the downtown mall; near 4th street, the Nook, Twisted Branch, and many more awesome places! You will find our door between Eppies and the Men and Boys shop, come on in and head down the stairs! Follow the drums and jingles!
Jalsah Richmond (events » community) Friday, September 25, 2009 - 7:00 PM Art6 and Charlottesville Area Rhythm and Dance (CARD) are hosting a monthly ‘Jalsah’, a gathering based on the Middle-Eastern tradition of joining together to share dance, live music, food, and socializing. This is open to all who would like to participate by playing an instrument (yes, this includes drums!) or dancing, or both. Even though the tradition is a Middle-Eastern one, everyone is welcome to attend and to bring some kind of music to play or a dance to share...or to simply experience this educational and cultural event. Instructional seminars (taught by members of the bellydance troupe min el-Jbal el-Zarr'a) on how to drum for dancers and on improvisational belly dancing to live music will take place from 7:00-7:45 (pre-registration is requested). This event will be held on Friday evenings from 7:00-9:30pm at art6 Gallery, 6 E. Broad St., on Sept. 25. A $5.00 donation is suggested.

Streams of consciousness....

Hello everyone, sorry I've been so quiet... I've been over on FB and MS because tribe just crashes on me all the time....

Anyway, Journey Down the Silk Road will be on June 20th this year, at Heavenly Acres Campground, just north of Charlottesville... I thought that having the option to camp would give people a chance to stay the night if the evening's drumming and dancing lasted really late, which it usually does!

This is an open call to any and everyone who would like to teach or g... read more

I just watched the sun slip below the horizon from the roof of our technology building, sucky day to be at work, but beautiful sights to go with it.

My brother just called, he wants to invite my mom over to his house for Thanksgiving dinner.

I just got my nails done today, and although they are WAAAAAAAY too pale pink for me, they are the perfect backdrop for glitter.

Lots to do at work this evening, but I can turn the radio up and get my groove on while I'm working!

its a beautif... read more

I didn't bribe them, really...

Jennifer *is* dance. She is that voiceless expression of emotion that we all recgonize.

She is a beautiful person and a good friend. I met her at our first Pennsic, and she's one of the reasons we'd never miss it.

I love the way she embraces life--- both the joy and tragedy of it--- and then turns it on its head.

Jennifer is the most fun, friendly, open girl of the world. You can always have some laughs with her. She puts all her heart in the things she likes (i.e., and most important of them, SCA and belly dance). Can you believe all her choreographies are improvised? On the stage, she always make people cheer and clap. I wonder how she does it...
