I am so proud of my troupe, Danza della Luna! We just got back from Austin and placed first in the Medium Troupe category and won Overall Troupe Champions at the 2009 Choreography Project in Austin! Out prize is that we get to create an instructional DVD featuring our winning choreography! That'll be ready in a few months! Go team! The event was hosted by Rick Fink and Z-Helene. “Sa’diyya and the Danza della Luna Performance Company” is an Award-Winning dance troupe based in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area, directed by professional dancer and instructor, Sa’diyya, aka Elizabeth Parr. “Danza della Luna” is Italian for “Dance of the Moon,” referring to the age-old comparison of a woman’s beauty to the beauty of the moon in Middle Eastern cultures. Danza della Luna specializes in unique Bellydance presentations that showcase the more modern styles of Bellydance, as their repertoire runs the gamut from world-fusion dances to flashy “Las Vegas” style dances to the authentic dances of the Middle East. Sa’diyya and the Danza della Luna Performance Company was founded in March of 2007 by Sa’diyya, the Artistic Director, Dance Coach and Visionary for this group of hard-working dancers who share the same enthusiasm and vision as Sa’diyya. Most of the members have only been studying Bellydance for 3-5 years, but their drive to be their personal-best, as well as their strong backgrounds in other dance forms like Modern, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Flamenco, Salsa and Lyrical, have supplemented their Bellydance studies with Sa’diyya and other master instructors of Bellydance. Danza della Luna has performed all around Texas at festivals, gala dance shows, private parties, restaurants, competitions and more! The goal of the company is to bring Bellydance to a higher level of skill and production, with exciting and entertaining performances that leave lasting impressions on audience members, all the while keeping true to the roots of Middle Eastern dance with continued, intensive study on the part of the company members and Sa’diyya.
