</a>
										<div> i just wanted to say hi and check in. I feel very far away right now and am resting after a long day at work. Hawaii has been interesting this trip to say the least, but it's been a different kind of adventure. It's been very slow and subtle. I work hard while I'm here, and have to stay in that full work mode to often just sit all day and find ways to pass time until clients walk through the door. So i've been writing a lot, and fixing my machines and drawing drawing drawing.

Honolulu was a lot of hurry up and wait as far as work goes, often frustrating for this Sagittarian, but I made a few new friends and enjoyed being around really quality artists...so I'm I'm learning this mantra...patience....patience....patience.....
Patience for my back injury as well. I have been really working out a lot of blockages as I nurse my back to health. It has taken so much of me to just focus on this these last few months. I have been recieving the most incredible (and often painful) acupuncture to my torn ligaments and lower spine. Apparently I also have deficient Kidney Yang Chi which is the subtle reasons behind how my back became so out of balance.
So I have been trying to be still and pay attention to subtle shifts, life patterns, and how I contribute to my own ill health.
Now I am struggling with quitting coffee. And eating healthy food at regular times. Strengthening my core so my back isn't doing all the work all the time. Breathing more.
Now I am on the mysterious island of Maui amidst a shop in deep change and I have to move even slower and stay in balance, Pono is the Hawaiian word for it.
Walking in Pono.
This place changes me every time I am blessed to come here. We have a strange relationship, not all pretty sweet smelling tropical. She humbles me and teaches me about many things.
I miss home. Beautiful Portland. I will return just as the Daylight Savings Time changes. Stevee says the crocuses are blooming.

Oh my GOD/DESS
I just realized I never answered Ampersand's 10 Facts About Myself Tag......
All right Amper I'll just do it.....

1. I have deficient kidney yang chi

2. When I was 7 or 8 years old (I'm not sure of the year, but Billy Joel's "Go Ahead With Your Own Life Leave Me Alone was on the radio) I had a vision/dream that the Virgin Mary showed me the Earth all exploded with nuclear bombs and everyone on the planet dead and told me that it could happen and I had to pray hard for her.

3. I still pray to her.

4. My Birthday is the Feast Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe.

5. When I was 13 I invented a superhero character named Dewey Duckhammer that was basically the Norse God of Ducks. I liked ducks.

6. I have restless leg syndrome. Often when I lie down to go to sleep at night, my right leg will kick and keep me awake for hours.

7. In my life, at one time or another or maybe still (or maybe not) I have seriously wanted to be: a skydiver, an actor, a stage technician, a reporter, a private detective, a botanist, a tattoo artist, a singer, a puppeteer, a porn star, a comic book writer, a cartoonist, a poet, a survivalist, a wilderness EMT, a high school teacher, a father and a worthy lover.

8. I have only ever ridden a horse once in my life and only recently. horses mystify and baffle me.

9.My first memory is pulling my self up a stair and looking waaaay up at my Grandmother and Mother from down on the floor near their shoes.

10. Every time I'm on a long road trip at some point during the trip I have to hear Paradise by the Dashboard light by Meatloaf, and Origin of Love from Hedwig.

Verbal Abuse Magazine Presents Tom Spanbauer
Free Admission

Verbal Abuse Magazine was a literary quarterly for the culturally jaded, published in print from 1993-1995. Begun as a reading series in 1990, a late-night alternative to New York's insular poetry scene by Jackie 60 club producer and poet Chi Chi Valenti, Verbal Abuse presented arts &amp; letters of a distinctly different stripe, embracing sexual themes and other material often unpublishable elsewhere. The first issue of Verbal Abuse Magazine was a veritable greatest hits of the reading series and an instant collector's item - only 1,000 were printed. A tiny, dedicated editorial collective, including DJ-turned-graphic designer Johnny Dynell (Art Director), author Terence Sellers (Submissions Editor), and photographer Michael James O'Brien (Editor at Large), assembled each themed issue with Valenti. The magazine blossomed, but became too expensive to print after issue 4. Happily, that has changed with the advent of print-on-demand, which means a new fifth issue will be coming later this year, after a twelve-year hiatus. Join Rapture Café &amp; Books in celebrating Verbal's impending return with our good friend and literary lion, author Tom Spanbauer.

Tom Spanbauer is a Pulitzer Nominated author and the founder of Dangerous Writing. As a writer he has explored issues of race, of sexual identity, of how we make a family for ourselves in order to surmount the limitations of the families into which we are born. His three published novels Faraway Places, The Man Who Fell In Love With The Moon, In The City Of Shy Hunters, and Now Is the Hour, are notable for their combination of a fresh and lyrical prose style with solid storytelling.

<div>GlobalOrgasm.org Mission Statement

The mission of the Global Orgasm is to effect change in the energy field
of the Earth through input of the largest possible surge of human energy.
Now that there are two more US fleets heading for the Persian Gulf with
anti- submarine equipment that can only be for use against Iran, the time
to change Earths energy is NOW! Read more about the fleet buildup here.

The intent is that the participants concentrate any thoughts during and
after orgasm on peace. The combination of high- energy orgasmic energy
combined with mindful intention may have a much greater effect than
previous mass meditations and prayers.

The goal is to add so much concentrated and high-energy positive input
into the energy field of the Earth that it will reduce the current
dangerous levels of aggression and violence throughout the world.

Global Orgasm is an experiment open to everyone in the world.

We hope the results will register on the worldwide monitor system of the
Global Consciousness Project.

This is the First Annual Solstice Synchronized Global Orgasm for Peace,
leading up to the December Solstice of 2012, when the Mayan Calendar ends
with a new beginning.

    </a>
										<div>Okay so this is more of an ad really, to let everyone know and hopefully fill up my appointment book for my trip to the East Bay and San Fran. I will be coming down sometime in the next couple weeks and staying for a week or so. I'll know for sure over the next few days.
I've been planning a Bay Area trip for a while now, but since my car is de-commissioned (argh) I have had to try and plan around other people. So I will be in the East Bay for 4 days or so, then the city for another few days. I probably wont be able to get down to Santa Cruz so hopefully the Santa Cruz contingent can make it up to the city for a day (hint hint).....
So as of right now, my schedule is pretty open...let me know what you're thinking....

Falling in Portland

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/sagetattoo/blog/f5c85d24-f183-47b0-9700-4a29c353f2b4">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/417/095/4170956a-4d0f-4018-82cb-34ae544edc22.thumb" width="65" height="48" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>It's been a while since I blogged, and only then to post travel times.....sigh...where did the summer go?
When fall hit last month, that first gray day, it's like the whole world shifted. I wound up going through a pretty stressed out time, very OLD feelings of anxiety and stuckedness bubbling back up to the surface. Add that onto a sudden slowdown in business (needed really-it happens every year at this time as summer begins to flee, and people return to school and travel for work, the last thing on peoples minds for a while seems to be tattoos) and a finanical audit by the state to see if I was WORTHY enough to keep my medical insurance (yikes--mortality AND self-esteem) and a car accident in which I hit a very nice young dude on his motorcycle. I decided the best course of action for a while was to regroup and look back over the last 6 months or so.
And I came up with....Im pretty goddamned blessed to be in Portland.
yeah business is slow right now, but even as I type this its picking up already, and I was able to plan for the slow down this year, so though things are tight, Im using the time to not go out as much and live simpler. And really, the support of my friends and all my new clients since I opened in March made me realize that this is in many ways the beginning of a new chapter for me and my artwork.
A couple other things have been happening. This year so far has been big about boundries for me, professional and personal. I moved in with my lover, well sort of. i told myself I never wanted to live with a lover again, didnt want to lose myself blah blah....so Im lving in my own apartment in the same house. own entrance. own bathroom. Own kitchen. The rent is higher (yikes again) but its worth it. Its been all about not setting expectations over what we are 'supposed' to be doing, but sharing as we see the need and feel the desire to share....its been so....respectful. i never thought I could actually be so clear about my emotional life with someone.
Its had other effects too. I've been clearer with my boundries with friends and at work. Its cost me too. My stopping myself from allowing myself to be a projection screen and doormat for others had led to some surprising losses and gains. I have lost some friends. Some dramatically and others quietly. That's been hard. To feel mispercieved, and not listened too. I feel like Ive been getting my life together and in a couple cases was actually resented by "friends". In one case, the issues someone was having with a thrid friend were transferred onto me and the other two are still friends while Im out of the picture. Another old friend I realized was never quite the friend I thought he was, I kept hoping he would be as close to me as I wanted, but I was just an ego boost and a quiet enabler. When I stopped enabling, i was a villain. But it has deepend some friendships too, in surprising ways, feelings and expressions of love and respect from people I never was receptive to.
there it is, something Ive been trying to reach with myself. To have genuine disagreement with someone(s) and not turn them into a villain, to still see them as loving and loved and to still actually love them, but to be able to release them to their own path, without my expectation on what they need to be... then to do the same with people I am already in harmony with. To see people just as they are. I do have faith in peoples hearts, but realize that people need different things from each other and thats all right. I don't need to demonize anyone, but I don't need to participate in something that goes against my own internal code either.
So, like I said. I love this town, the different writing/art/tattoo/faerie/friend/teaching/theatre/music communities I am part of. We have something special here, a place to heal and make art. What's next?</div>

Tattoo Artist in Portland Oregon

    </a>
										<div>Hi Everybody
I want to thank EVERYBODY for their well-wishes and support of my tattoo vision. It has been a long time of dreaming and traveling and building clientele, working with all the amazing people all over the world who I’ve had the great good fortune of knowing and tattooing. My last call for pre-paid clients to raise money to open a shop in Portland Oregon has been successful and I put the deposit on my space.
I am open for business on March 23rd and am already booked two weeks out.
So here’s the deal:
I am a queer Tattoo Artist with 9 years experience who works one-on-one with my diverse clentele to produce quality bodyart in a clean and safe environment.
I am state licensed and have a new space in SE Portland in the Woodstock area that is appointment only (no walk-ins)
If you might be interested in my work, I always suggest you check out my website
www.sage-ink.com
and get in touch with me. I like to meet for coffee, go over my portfolio and talk about whatever work you are interested in.
Thanks and Peace.

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/sagetattoo/blog/a3b637aa-ad10-4dfd-85c9-de59cb70a97e">  						          <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/65f/d37/65fd378e-47a6-48b9-99c6-46ca4c4fb9aa.thumb" width="58" height="78" alt="" />
    </a>
										<div>Hi everybody,
As many of you know you know, I have been planning on opening my tattoo shop in Portland Oregon and have been fundraising since November by asking for pre-paid clients at my old rates of $100.00 per hour. Many people have expressed interest in this really good deal, and I’m sending this email to let you know that if you were considering pre-paying any amount of tattoo time, large or small, now would be a good time to do it.
I have found a space to sub-lease within an existing shop in SE Portland out near Woodstock but I need funds to move in and get the equipment I need and also to advertise. I need to move fast now, my first payment is due Friday to put a deposit down and will move in on March 20th.
Here’s a repeat of the offer:

I am seeking clients to pre-pay hours at my current rate of $100.00 per hour. Once my shop opens, my rates will increase for the first time in 5 years to $125.00 per hour. Buying in now will keep my lower rates for your pre-paid time.
I have also come up with some incentives for those who wish to pre-pay larger blocks of time:
Pre-Paying over $1000 will give you the lower hourly rate for your pre-paid time plus 3 free hours of tattoo time per $1000.00 plus 4 free hours of private writing instruction (I am also a writer and writing insructor).
All hours will be fully transferable to whomever you wish.

I wish to thank you for your friendship and all the support that has already been given me over these last transitional months/years. I invite you to join me in this exciting new project.
Please email me thru tribe or my website me with any questions, feedback, or concerns.
Love
Sage
