Faeries Out(reaching) and About

September 15th 2007 once again the Faeries of Zuni took the Wise Fool Cabaret by storm. Hityrus aka munk, Guava Soliel (of Santa Fe), Huilo Marvovia, Sahki, and Bashi pulled it together to land one fabulous show together with The Gender Benders of Wise Fool. Bringing these things to our universe out side of sanctuary is one of the many wonderful things we as faeries can to to enrich our environment within and without our immediate community's. Thank Spirit for such a colorful and wonderful sisterbrother hood to do this with! I have deep honor and thankfulness to my ancestors who gave me this opportunity to give back what I hold most dear to my heart: art music and the spirit to give. As i head out into the world for a spell I want to thank all of you within and without sanctuary for the support through spirit. Support that we all deserve to put on this grand show, which is so real at times. I call for continual growth in our ability's to shine and plug in where we plug in best, even if at times you need to find out what that is. We share a space of creativity with massive potential. If we are willing to support each other though this process of continual growth, even when it seems to be rough. When this process is shared together on sanctuary it furthers our possiblitys of finding ways to individually make things happen for the better on a larger scale. Bringing smiles and joy through out reaching with our....."faerieness"... is a great way in helping to co create this process . And oh what fun! Once again a big round of applause for each and every one of us who is apart of making things brighter through what they love doing! Love & Blessings!!

what a whirl wind!! shamans gathering .......its over a week later and im just catching my breath. first off a HUGE and FABULOUS thanks to every one who attended!! we here at zms all feel that this years gathering was a big success and i am already excited about next year! many lessons and much success from this year. we will be striving to be even more organized and implementing suggestions as we can. ok big blessings and love to all! and stay tuned for next year!!!! blessed be!!

Lughnasadh

Ancient celebration Lughnasadh was one of the four main festivals of the medieval Irish calendar: Imbolc at the beginning of February, Beltane on the first of May, Lughnasadh in August and Samhain in October. The early Celtic calendar was based on the lunar, solar, and vegetative cycles, so the actual calendar date was variable. Lughnasadh marked the beginning of the harvest season, the ripening of first fruits, and was traditionally a time of community gatherings, market festivals, horse races and reunions with distant family and friends. Among the Irish it was a favored time for handfastings - trial marriages that would generally last a year and a day, with the option of ending the contract before the new year, or later formalizing it as a more permanent marriage.[1][2][3] In Celtic mythology, the Lughnasadh festival is said to have been begun by the god Lugh, as a funeral feast and games commemorating his foster-mother, Tailtiu, who died of exhaustion after clearing the plains of Ireland for agriculture. The first location of the Áenach Tailteann was at the site of modern Teltown, located between Navan and Kells. Historically, the Áenach Tailteann gathering was a time for contests of strength and skill, and a favored time for contracting marriages and winter lodgings. A peace was declared at the festival, and religious celebrations were also held. A similar Lughnasadh festival was held at Carmun (whose exact location is under dispute). Carmun is also believed to have been a goddess of the Celts, perhaps one with a similar story as Tailtiu.[3][4] A festival corresponding to Lughnasadh may have been observed by the Gauls at least up to the 1st century (see Coligny calendar); the same date was later adopted for the meeting of all the representatives of Gaul at the Condate Altar in Gallo-Roman times. During the reign of Augustus Caesar the Romans instituted a celebration on August 1 to the genius of the emperor in Lyon, a place believed to have also been named for the Celtic god Lugh.
