about me
I'm a polytheist focused on Scottish Highland and Hebride culture, ban-fhiannaidh, Hillbilly survivalist, barbarian, writer, boss mare and all around raging, rabid, opinionated, savage alpha bitch. Any questions?
I am not the Celtic Reconstructionist you are looking for. In fact, by the current definition, I'm certainly not one at all. I also do not endorse any book about it you might see my name on or in and I certainly do not endorse anyone else whose names I might be linked to due to them. Warning: never, ever, collaborate. You're an idiot if you do....I speak as just such an idiot. Don't expect a lot of supa speshul mystical posts here. While I do ritual and ecstatic work, I don't discuss it a whole lot, tends to lend to people saying they worked with you and are part of your path when they aren't. This doesn't mean that I don't discuss aspects of my path and spirituality, just that I tend to talk more about the practical side of the warrior path than the mystical. So, yeah, when I talk about time with my horses, dogs, in the woods (even at work), working out and all sorts of "other" stuff, I'm actually also talking about my spirituality. Because everything ties in. If you think it doesn't, you're a fucking hobbiest. I really sort of do make my living as a ban-fhiannaidh, as well as professional fire-tender in the winter. ~;) In modern terms this is called nightwatch at a wilderness youth camp. Before that I was a reporter and photographer for a local paper, before that various other things...including my first career as a photojournalist long, long ago at a larger paper. My various interests, well, I guess you can see from my interest list and from the sites and communities here and elsewhere that I run. My mate and I have been taking steps into homesteading, but work does get in the way of doing this as far as we would like. We have a Greyhound, used to have three, an Aussie/Border Collie cross who is our trusty farm dog and we used to have an elderly Arabian horse who made an amazing recovery from his past abuse. We have now welcomed a new PMU filly into our lives, and inherited four Mini Horses, two of which already followed my father into the next world. We raise chickens, for meat as well as eggs so if you have a problem that..... We live in some of the most beautiful woods in the world in northern New Hampshire.

So I've not used this in months. I stopped mirroring my LiveJournal here and on MySpace about, well, what ever the last post is I guess. I have posted there a lot. I have posted on Championing Ourselves caithream.blogspot.com a good bit. Things have been busy. Firearms training, then lots of over time....and writing. The overtime helps with that as my online access is pretty bleak at work...no networks, no email, but I can hit some research sites and can buy books. So I'm back on the p...

When Gleann and I went for our walk around the pond there were tracks filling with the soft, fluffy snow. From the shape and pattern, I thought maybe they were coywolves, but couldn't be sure. Obviously, there were three.

After getting back for awhile, doing some of the chores I'm going to the house and Aaron's heading to give water to Saorsa, in her barn. Saorsa is in her pasture near the pond, looking intently across the pond. I go over asking what she's looking at and, indeed, there ar... read more

Other than that I had a horrible dream I might eventually post about. Maybe. Don't want to right now. But getting ready for tomorrow's celebration and otherwise taking it easy this weekend. As easy as I can after that dream. Got to see about preparing the lamb, Aaron will cook it in the afternoon along with his shortbread. Ritual will be me... read more
We got a bit of a thaw the past couple of days. Monday it was in the single digits (Fahrenheit) only for it to be 30 on Tuesday night then never going below a couple degrees less than 40 Wednesday. With rain. Drizzle.

On Thursday morning around 3:30 as I was walking up the long hill to the furthest camp I heard some distance in the woods, a "pop" or "crack" like you do when it's subzero and trees pop. But, you know, 40 above, that doesn't happen at 40 above. Then two caws of a crow. At 3:... read more
Yes, folks, that's my big news from this weekend. In reality it was a rather unproductive weekend, filled with some time with my animals and TV watching. But I feel like I accomplished something, even if my actual work was minor, in that this project I've been trying to get actually launched for so long is now, well, launched.
