Everything just went later than hoped for, but that's no really unexpected. The fires burned well, the omens were good. I did mess up on not doing a usual personal offering and therefore it was, um, taken instead....I got a nice second degree burn...

Bealtuinn!
(blog entry)
We'll be celebrating in a few hours, I need to make shortbread, Aaron will put the chicken in to roast for lunch/supper (early/late) when he gets up. At sunrise I'll go up the hill for dew and to burn off the Winter fire, before Aaron comes up and...

Re: Very cool bareback
(in Horses)
Roxy is a mare, right? Many mares wring their tales almost constantly, especially during parts of their cycle. It almost looks like she does it when ever she was being cued...which I've seen in a lot of very happily cooperative mares who seem to s...

No, this isn't about the TV show.
Or is it?
Seriously, it's just about a chicken.
Tuesday I let the chickens free-range. Uh, okay, that wasn't the plan, because we were still debating trying to promote brooding and try to get more chicks,...

Horse as sports equipment
(blog entry)
The recent horse deaths in both racing and eventing have been weighing in my mind heavily. I've always had a problem with all types of horse "sports" as it is. With the mentality that a horse is just a piece of equipment to be used and cast aside....

about me
I'm a polytheist focused on Scottish Highland and Hebride culture, ban-fhiannaidh, Hillbilly survivalist, barbarian, writer, boss mare and all around raging, rabid, opinionated, savage alpha bitch. Any questions?
Rumor has it that I got that whole Celtic Reconstructionist thing going, being the first to actually publicly use the term to describe a spiritual path back in '92. However, I no longer identify with the term as it is now used for something different than what I meant. I in no way endorse any CR claims by anyone. Yes, I am credited on the CR FAQ but I wrote little except for most of the women warrior thing...I couldn't let them say that women were commonly warriors because it just wasn't so as much as we might wish it. Other than that, please, no, just forget any mention of me at all. I have a BA in Celtic and Women's Studies which brought about the idea that I needed something based on the actual culture and mythology than what I had been practicing, I just never should have labeled it, that seems to cause movements and I don't like movements. Someday I might go to graduate school, but life is in the way right now and at this point I'd just rather become an EMT and a horse trainer. Should the Shit Hit The Fan, these skills will be more important than knowing Old Irish...and as it is I may be forced to learn French and Spanish soon anyway (you do NOT want to know why) and all other language skills may have to be on hold.
I really sort of do make my living as a ban-fhiannaidh as well as professional fire-tender. ~;) My mate and I have been taking steps into homesteading, but work does get in the way of doing this as far as we would like. We have two Greyhounds, used to have three, an Aussie/Border Collie cross and, until recently, an elderly Arabian horse who made an amazing recovery from his past abuse. We live in some of the most beautiful woods in the world in northern New Hampshire.
Everything just went later than hoped for, but that's no really unexpected. The fires burned well, the omens were good. I did mess up on not doing a usual personal offering and therefore it was, um, taken instead....I got a nice second degree burn on my hand. Poo! on those who claim to work with a certain Goddess and talk about what a loving and kind "Mommy" She is. *snerk*
It was strange not having any living canines with us, although Bran and Irony's presence was strong. I think it was ...

At sunrise I'll go up the hill for dew and to burn off the Winter fire, before Aaron comes up and we light the Summer fire and do offerings. Still not sure about the pups. Scolaighe is having a bad day, didn't eat much...barely at all. Then bring fire/smoke down to bless the horses, chickens and house...and the dogs if they don't come up to walk...

Tuesday I let the chickens free-range. Uh, okay, that wasn't the plan, because we were still debating trying to promote brooding and try to get more chicks, which means keeping the breeding birds away from the others for a couple of weeks. But we have been feeling like we've got a bit much on our plate to take on more chickens, even if right now the 7 girls (actually 6 as the Old Clucker isn't laying an...

The recent horse deaths in both racing and eventing have been weighing in my mind heavily. I've always had a problem with all types of horse "sports" as it is. With the mentality that a horse is just a piece of equipment to be used and cast aside. Of course, I have friends who compete, and I admit I "don't get it" but those who are my friends also do so as a sort of "aside" activity with their horses, none are going for high levels, none are making the competition their lives. But there are t...

Just before I was planning to get up, Aaron and Gleann were doing chores. Gleann decided this included barking at Saorsa. While this hasn't been a problem, as she's not really frightened of him, running only when she feels like playing, which given her youth is often, stopping when she's tired of it if he doesn't lose interest first, and he's kept reasonable distance to protect himself..and he has that amazing ducking ability that his heritage offers...this time he was just plain stupid and I...
