Saira is...
poetry in motion. a force to be reckoned with. as inspiring and talented as she is beautiful. one of the best friends and greatest dance partners a girl could ever ask for. Thank you for keeping me on track, thank you for keeping me motivated, thank you for your dedication, hard work, and perserverance. None of this would be possible without you! Thank you for all you have done for Raqs Sayyal!

about me
I am a fledgling belly dancer with about 3years of study under my fringe. I have been interested in all forms of dance since I was quite young. I started with ballet and jazz at the age of 13ish and when mother nature decided I was not ballet material my teacher tried to gently tell me my figure was too curvy? Since my dreams of dancing on broadway were dashed at that point, I gave up to persue other things that are irrelevant at this point. I have always been facinated with Middle Eastern culture and would enjoy many a night at a local Greek/Turkish restaurant in Santa Barbara CA every week to see belly dancing and the infamous table dance done by the owner.
I began taking Belly dance classes in the late summer of 2005 and haven't stopped!! It has changed my life and I have met some of the most amazing men and women from all over the country! I hope I never stop learning or dancing~The facination continues! I have been happily married for almost 7 years, have 2 beautiful step daughters, the cutest grand daughter ever, a 10 year old Border Collie who is my joy and a family I consider the greatest blessing in my life. I am sure I have been babbling on and on but I look forward to having my belly dance family grow as well. Blessed be

So many emotions running through my brain last night as I was coming home from the last day of workshops for SFCCo! When you help put together an event, (this was my first time) you run on constant adrenaline for months and then when it's over you feel this sort of pit in your stomach that corresponds with a slight feeling of depression that it's over, but at the same time are happy that all the hard work paid off! It's just weird.............All that aside, it was a fun filled weekend of lau...
