SambaDá is AfroBraziLatinSambaFunk - a unique, creative fusion of powerful music flowing from the roots of afro-brazilian samba and incorporating elements of reggae, funk, salsa, jazz and hip hop. SambaDá is dedicated to making people dance! A crowd favorite wherever they go, SambaDá serves up non-stop percussion-driven dance music, with infectious enthusiasm! As they sing, drum and dance, Brazilian lead vocalists Papiba Godinho and Dandha da Hora transmit their profound joy, knowledge and respect for the roots of Brazilian music. This spirit inspires the music of SambaDá, and the band reflects the wealth of musical backgrounds of its other members as well, which come together to create an unforgettable, original and highly danceable sound! Currently, SambaDá is very excited to be hard at work on a new album, collaborating with 2-time Grammy nominated producer Greg Landau. The new CD, the first with vocalist Dandha da Hora, is due out early in 2006! It will feature the high-energy original sound SambaDá is known for, as well as exploring exciting new musical territory for the band. SambaDá performs regularly at venues all over CA, and has toured in OR, WA, CO, and AZ. SambaDá has been fortunate share the stage with esteemed artists such as; Olodum, Ile Aiye, Ozomatli, Dori Cayime and Joyce, Sound Tribe Sector 9, Claudia Villela, Vinyl, The Motet, Cabaret Diosa, Ricardo Lemvo, Quetzal, Delta Nove, Bat Makumba, Sam Mangwana, Los Mocosos to name a few. SambaDá has performed at festivals such as; the Oregon Country Fair, High Sierra Music Festival, Jazz Aspen Snomass Festival, Afribbean Festival, SF North Beach Festival, Baja Bash, San Francisco Carnaval, San Diego Carnaval and was a featured band at the ‘99 Intl. Women’s World Cup Soccer Tournament which appeared on ESPN. The mission of SambaDá is evident everytime they play: to create peace and inspiration through music, happiness from dancing, and empowerment and change from strong roots and open hearts!
