Toys for Girls

   Fri, December 16, 2005 - 11:14 AM
Little girls are so hard to buy for these days. My nieces, Katie and Jennie, are 4 and 5. They're girly girls. There is a wealth of cool toys for boys.

Most dolls today are either Barbie or Bratz. The girls have Barbie's but at their age they're too hard to dress in those little clothes. You can pay a ton of money to have a doll made to look like them (eww) (see My Twinn). When I was little I had normal size dolls- my mom even made clothes for them.

Other than dolls- things seem to be mostly about shopping and fashion. And I'm so tired of the Disney Princesses or Barbie Princess.

Any good ideas?

How about some old school ideas like Shrinky Dinks, EZ Bake Oven or LightBright?

On second thought, that may be playing with fire. When I was a kid, nobody gave a darn if our toys were dangerous!

Girly slumber party kits and dress up stuff is always fun.

A dollhouse? I love dollhouses. When I was that age I always wanted one of those hippity hop things. Litebrite is cool. E-Z bake oven is cool.

They have a dollhouse and I think they have something similar to a litebrite. I loved my lite brite!

I never had an EZ bake oven. But always wanted one. Their parents gave them a big play kitchen last year. (The iron makes sounds!)
I think I'll make them each a necklace and maybe a game of some sort. A slumber party kit sounds interesting- I haven't seen those. I don't think they gone to a slumber party yet. Shrinky dinks would be fun too.

Oh and they do have some dress up stuff they love- although they may be grown out of it.

chauffer
from the looks of it...they'd probably like the car in back of them and a chauffer !!! that is..until they can finally reach the pedals !!
