about me
One quote rings true and constant to me;
Art is Life and Life is Art.

I am passionate, creative, intense (or so I'm told), fun and driven.
I make Art everyday & I prefer to surround myself with only creatives.
I write poetry, and short essays in my journal,
I have directed a TV commercial, and had photographs
that I shot run as billboards and full page in
Rolling Stone, Cosmopolitin, TV Guide, Glamour , and People Magazines.

I have more female friends than male,
I am cooperative rather than competitive and the people in my life tend to be the same. You'll never find us "watching the game", more often we're making our own game up.

I was a photographer in the U.S. Navy and had a "Top Secret" clearance for 10 years.
I've travelled extensively throught the Orient.

I love theatre and have played the lead in over 15 plays and musicals, both profesionally and semi-profesionally.
I have written and am currently producing a full length multimedia theatrical piece on the Death Penalty, entitled "Assuming Room Temperature".

I recently co-founded The Black Rock East Arts Collective. A Live-in arts collective located in Baltimore MD.

Although I'm no longer married, I love children, and have 2 of my own in whose lives I am deeply involved, Jacob 8 & Caroline 6.

My right arm is covered in tattoos and I will get many more.

When it's over, I want to say-

"All my life, I was a bride married to amazement.
I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms.
When it is over, I don't want to wonder
if I have made of my life something particular, and real.
I don't want to find myself sighing and frightened,
or full of argument.
I don't want to end up simply having visited this world."

I LOVE the way kilts look on women.

Money pisses me off.
Selfishness pisses me off.
Boring people piss me off.
Playing safe makes me sick.

I believe that....
"The intensity of the experience determines its worth."

Just How I See Things

This water tower sits directly outside my bedroom window. As photographers have done since the very first images were captured, I've decided to do a photographic study of it. This first series of images were all shot hand held, while standing in the rain on my fire escape.

This is my choice for the cover of Avacado Happy Hour's newest CD. After much discussion, they elected to go with another image that I didn't like nearly as much. Oh well, That's why it's commercial art and not Fine Art. I still like this one.

Just How I See It- A daily (or so) Blog

I've fallen in love with this water tower that sits outside my bedroom window. Recently I photographed a series of images of it during one of our summer electrical storms. These are just a few. All shot handheld standing in the rain on my fire escape. Good times!

I shot this while sitting in a hot tub in Dallas. It's very reminiscent of some images I shot when I was 19 or 20.
It's funny.......everything changes yet it always stays the same.

Some of you may have already heard but in case you haven't here's the official PORN&EGGS report from Wickerman this weekend.

A Weekend of Harassment, Intimidation and Fear At 4 Quarters Farm.

I have been actively involved in the Burning Man community for over 7 years and In short, this past weekend at Wicker man turned out to be one of the LEAST tolerant, and accepting events I have EVER attended, and I would caution any other Burner to strongly reconsider any decision to support 4 ... read more

My Testimonials

March 3, 2008
Mine

Why do I love you? You always ask.
Perhaps its for your words, the beautiful eloquence that makes me sigh,
Maybe it’s because of the veins on your arms that hold me so tight.
But I suppose those will someday fade as all beauty.
Maybe it’s because you can sing me to sleep with a cabaret tune.
Or dance across the stage, rat-rat-a-tat rat-rat-a-tat.
Do I love you because you’re as broken as I,
Most likely. But our broken hearts make one far greater than the parts.
How many times today will I kiss your face,
And how many more will I need before it’s enough?
Why do I love you? You ask once again,
Because you make me laugh harder than I’ve laughed before.
We giggle and paw like lovesick school children,
But if these things must someday fade.
Why do I still need to hold your hand down every street?
Why do I still get butterflies when I hear you coming home from work?
Why do I lay up waiting for the sound of the elevator door to know you’re safetly home to me?
Because at nine months I love you more each day than the last,
Because I see myself in you and am willing to learn.
Because you want to move to France with me to raise a family.
Because we promised we’ll grow up together but never get old.
Because we can take care of each other forever if we want to and never grow tired.
Because you leave love notes on pink hearts for me to find.
Why do I love you? You always ask.
I think it’s because of the way your cheek wrinkles next to your mouth when you kiss my face.
Or perhaps, how I hold you to my breast when you have a bad dream and cover you in my love.
I know that I love you because you’re my other half.
I know that I love you because you cherish me.
I know that I love you because of the way your skin feels.
I know that I love you because no one could ever match this completely.
Why do I love you? You always ask.
I guess I don’t really know, I suppose I just do.

Doug is real. Doug is like the realest of the real. Someone else put surreal and that's the truth.

He's an intense human being who lives life, making no apologies for it. He is LIFE!
He's a beautiful human being and I am thankful to have crossed paths with him.

Did I mention he's a good looking artist?

Absolutely a great dude, a lifesaver, at the last minute he loaned me his photo equipment without hesitation, I would do the same in the future for him.

Doug you are the best. Thank you.
