My stay in Oklahoma was fabulous. Thank goodness for some good things about the military, I got an awesome discount at the Marriot. I felt so under dress walking up in there with the bellboy carrying my ugly bags. I was getting that, 'who is that?' Many people were gawking at my baby, the stang, so I just this girl from Cali can still cause an eye brow to raise once in a while. My room was so awesome that when I walked in, I gasped, and said 'wow' before I knew it, so much for trying to act cool and bad ass woman in front of the bellboy. I tipped him, slammed the door, locked in securely took off my clothes and proceeded to rolled around on some of the softess sheets I ever felt. I felt like Pretty Woman (minus the hooker part) when she first arrived in the penthouse. All I could say was that room was Bangin'. I washed my baby (my car), got a schlotszky's and watch 'Night in the Museum' (freaking hilarious) .Tried to get on the internet, but they wanted 10 freaking dollars, hell no, at least in the Holiday Inn it's free. I loved Oklahoma City, everyone was really nice, and such a clean place, definitely major kudos. One incident, got lost looking for a walmart, while having to pee really bad, and the phone ringing off the hook.

Lonoke, Arkansas, Wow, another small town, but with some gripes. Went to Mickey D's for a salad and the service was awful, but something happened in my presence which made me understand. While this girl was taking my order, i can hear the manager talking in a real stern voice to some of the employess, and boy was she pissed. All the employees looked like they got their asses handed to them on platter, so now with the wild woman behind the counter, it was distracting on how the service for my order would be. First, my salad was ready, but the girl getting my order was dragged aside to be yelled at, so i sat there for about 2 min before someone else came over and put it in the bag. Second, I asked, hey, where's my salad dressing, she handed it to me. Third, I asked, hey, where's my fork and knife, and my bottle of water while your at it. Everyone behind the counter was so on edge and distracted by the mad manager, they were forgetting to make sure my order was complete. Talk about drama in Mickey D's in Lonoke, Arkansas, it happens every where.

Taking a bubble bath in Santa Rosa, New Mexico..

Yup, that's where I'm at right now. Santa Rosa is a small desert town. When I arrived, I had just missed the summer rain storm, but with the heat, there was no evidence that any water was ever on the ground. I drove through the town, and most of the buildings are vacated and boarded up. The only thing that's keeping this town barely alive is the local hotels, gas stations, and restaurants that cater to travelers such as myself passing through. I could see how this town was booming back in the day, with the city hall fountain, now crumbling; the local high school fountain shop, now boarded up; the jail house, now with rusting bars, and the police station is a crumbling mobile home. What happened to this town? I went to one of the restaurants to order food, all the employees were older folks, and seemed sad, so I joked around and hung out a bit longer just to hopefully show that I care and want to make their day. I hope there will be a day when this town will come alive again, I can tell it has so remarkable memories. I see it as a very lovely town that I would love to visit again one day.

Next stop, Oklahoma city. I have to take these breaks since I haven't been sleeping very well without my sweetie by my side. Love you all. Sanity

I love you Jetta.

I had to put Jetta to sleep today, and it's been a very difficult time. Here I will tell you a story on how Jetta and I came full circle:

I was living in Alameda and decided that I wanted an animal companion. I went to the animal shelter and had set my heart on a female Rott named Angel. Well, Angel turned out to be a bit agressive when I took her for a walk, so when I return to the shelter I was ready to leave when I saw this beautiful black dog, with white paws and white chest jumping up and down and wagging her tail like crazy. I then realized this was the dog I actually came in for. I took her out and she was so loving and full of personality, I couldn't wait to get her home. When I got her home, she immediately bonded with my youngest kitty jade (check out the 'strange love' pic).

After two months of getting to know each other, I decided to work at Oakland Vet Hospital. I started talking about my wonderful Jetta, and showed the vets and staff her picture. They all said they remember seeing her somewhere, then one girl said that Jetta was the dog they found running down MacArthur (very busy street) one hot day. They tried to find her owners to no avail, so when they ran out of room in their kennel, the doctors decided to put Jetta in the animal shelter instead of a couple of other dogs since her awesome disposition, she would have a better chance at finding a home. they called the Oakland shelter and they said since Jetta has some pitbull in her, they were going to put her to sleep immediately. So the doctors decided to pick a street in Alameda, and then took her to the Alameda shelter since they have an almost no kill policy. They also were keeping tabs on Jetta in case they needed to rush in to save her. Now after a total of four months, she's back and happy as ever. I didn't know taking the job at the hospital i would come full circle with my wonderful Jetta.

Jetta was with me during Ren Faires, South Cali, Mississippi, and wild hiking trips. She would place her beautiful head on my tummy when I was pregnant to be close to our wonderful baby. And she would comfort me when I was sad with a huge lick on my face. She was the fastest dog in the dog park, and the most popular since she loved when the other dogs would chase her. She would let you know when she wanted out or in the back door, it wasn't barking, it was talking, I called it Jettanese.

For the past few months she has been in pain due to surgery she had to help her hip dipslaysia about 7 years ago. The socket in her hip has now deteriorated, and she had trouble climbing the stairs. Despite the meds I was giving her, she began to cry a lot due to pain and discomfort, and her back legs would give way underneath her. Last night I almost had to take her to the emergency hospital because she was crying so much. I had to double up her meds to make her sleep, which didn't happen until 1:30am, but caused her to vomit when she woke up, and she was still in pain. I then decided to go through with it since I didn't want her to suffer anymore. I got to hold her while the doctor gave her the injection. She was looking me in the eyes as usual, then slowly she lower her head down onto my arm like she always does when she goes to sleep. I placed my teary cheek upon her head, and hugged her. I placed my hand over her face and shut her eyes. For a half and hour, I stroked her head, while humming and thanking her for all the love she bestowed on me. I told her that now she can run, eat whatever she wants, and feel no pain, I told her she was now free. Jetta was gone, my sweet girl.

I miss her so much, 12 years of happiness, comfort, and companionship. I love my baby Jetta, and I miss her dearly. As I sit her typing I wait for the moment when she pushed the door open and hustles into my room with tongue hanging, with her ears up at attention, looks me in the eyes and barks...my response to reach out and rub her ears, but now, no more. My heart is aching, but I know Jetta would want me to be happy. And I will since she has taught me unconditional love, and she will be in my heart forever.

RIP my girl, until the day we meet again...
Love,

Yes, I'm a married woman now, and never been happier. We didn't tell anyone when we took off to Reno to get hitch. Kevin and I have been together over a year and a half and never once took a trip by ourselves. It was awesome, it was the best time ever. We plan on going back there on our one year anniversary that is if I'm not out on the boat cruisin the Carribean. Yes, I still have to leave everyone behind, so i'm bumming about that, but we can make it work. We believe everything happens for a reason.

We are still have our special day ceremony with family and our closest friends since we still have the condos at Lake Tahoe. We're just going to go through the special moments of vows with our children, family, and friends since we are all now connected together through marriage.

Love you all,

Yes, it’s definite, I’m going to sea, and I’m bummed because I have to leave my family here in California since the CGC Forward is homeported in Portsmouth Virginia. It sucks since I really have some home issues with my son which I’m needed here. I’ll try to make the best of it though, especially since I can make YNC off the ship, and hopefully retire as a CWO in a few years.

I’m also going to miss Kevin terribly since we won’t have much time as husband and wife before I head out. I’m also going to have to sell my horse (tough, tough decision), but I just can’t be there for Seeker like I want to be, he deserve more than that. Most of all I’m going to miss my boys, Skyler and Justin. Those two are my joy, and they brings smiles to my face every single day. I love them so much. And I’m going to miss my dear friends, I love you all so much.

So if you have time, let’s do something fun before I leave... the crazier the better.

Smooches,

Thinking about what to do today, then suddenly I find myself running down San Rafael freeway...

Yes, you read right. I was coming back from the hospital this morning since I'm having a little complications with my incision sites, and when Kevin and I were pulling off the freeway towards Central San Rafael to eat, we drove by a dog coming up the ramp onto the freeway. Kevin quickly pulled over onto the almost non-existant shoulder and proceeded to call the CHP. I on the other hand jump out of the car and started running up the ramp onto the freeway to save the doggie. I was running through debris, puddles, and waving my arms so people can see me while trying to catch up with the wayward pooch. Despite the pain from my surgery I continued to run determined to save this poor animal, and also scanning the cars coming towards me in case I needed to make a dive over the barrier. Thank goodness motorists saw the doggie, and slowed, but upon see a frantic black woman running on the freeway, they move over then finally some people put their flashers on and stopped all traffic in that lane. In the second line of cars, I noticed a young boy jump out of the passenger side of a truck and scoop the pooch into the front seat, then with the first car with hazards flashing, the truck second with the pooch safely inside and another car with hazards flashing behind it, they pulled over and picked me up. I graciously jumped into the back of the truck and they followed Kevin who was beside himself with worry to a parking lot.

All of us strangers became friends in that moment. Hugs went around and the doggie (Maggie) was the one who brought it all together. Even the salesmen at the parking lot brought out water for the wayward Maggie. She had a collar on (her name and phone number stitched on) and we called the owner. He rushed over and was almost in tears when he realized Maggie was found on the busy freeway. With hugs and handshakes and Maggie playing tug of war with the leash I held, I finally bent down one on knee, and gave her a parting hug. I knew I loved that pooch at first sight, and now in a matter of 20 minutes of first meeting and parting, this was thelast goodbye. She licked my face, and I scratched her ears and hug her shaken owner and told them both to watch over each other and Happy New Year.

My fiance took me out to eat labeling me a 'hero', he says I risked my life for a dog. I said 'no', I'm just someone who wanted to help a lost pooch and reunite her with her owner. It was the right thing to do... With that, he told me he was proud of me and gave me a huge kiss, and I felt good, actually more than good....

Yesterday I attended the Oakland Black Cowboys parade since I've in thinking about having my horse kinda do some parades here and there. I met up with one of my friends named Gilda. She was very excited about being around the horses, but when they got near she ran for cover behind me. After the exciting event, she followed me and my family back to Petaluma because she wanted to see my new horse Seeker, yes, I had to give up Star, but now I have a new baby. We arrive at the house he's staying at and when I pulled up my friend who's taking care of Seeker, Barbara came out with her two dogs. One is an Irish Setter, and the other is a Chihuahua, and Gilda was afraid to get out of my car. I got out and started playing with the dogs, Barbara asked Gilda if she wanted her to put the dogs in the house, you can tell Gilda was trying to be brave, so she replied no, that she would have to get use to being around animals, so she put on her brave face and got out the car. Barbara said, well in that case, I'll let out the big one. Next thing I know I see Gilda climbing into the back of Barbara's truck bed, as this tiniest Chihuahua, smaller than the first came running out the house. I'm telling Gilda to look, but she was too scared and continued to climb into the truck. When she was finally up in the truck and felt safe, she turned around to see this little dog looking up at her. The look on her face was priceless, wished I had my video camera, I need $10,000.

Two Pots

An elderly woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream.
I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."
The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?
That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.
For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.
Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty grace in the house."

Each of us has our own unique flaw.
But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.
Take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

To all of my crackpot friends and family, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers, on your side of the path. Love ya, and Happy Easter.

My best friend is getting married next year and has asked me to marry her and her fiance together. It's scary to me since I know this will be a very special moment in their lives, and I hope not to screw it up. I'm going to perform the ceremony since I love her very much, and she has told me that it wouldn't feel right if it was done any other way. Well, I have until May to get it right.

Thanks again to all my friends, tribe friends included, out there who I love very much. I know we all get busy with life and at times are not in touch with each other as much as we like, but I want you all to know, I do think about you everyday, which brings a smile to my face knowing that I have wonderful friends like you. Have an awesome Sunday, and I'll be in touch.

I'm going to be down for almost a week, most drug induced, but I'm a bit scared. So if you send me a message, I won't be able to respond most likely until the weekend, and I also want to apologize for not staying in touch lately, just a lot of work and trying to prepare for this.

I was still jumpy from the Oklahoma City incident, so when we arrived in Albuquerque, NM, I begged the Front Desk for a room in the front of the hotel so I could sleep without worrying about my car. I had the weirdest dreams that I was still in Mississippi, so I was waking up pissed thinking I still had an extra long drive to make. Must have been that Margarita Wine cooler before bed.

Made it to the Grand Canyon, $20 just to get in. Check into our camp site first, Sky was very excited about camping out, my mom on the other hand was less than enthused. So we went to check out the Canyon at sunset and it was awesome, beautiful, magnificent, hell, you'll just have to see it for yourself, no words can discribe it. I actually got dizzy looking down into the huge crevice, and can see hikers as little ants trekking towards the Colorado river, like I said, ya just have to see it for yourself. Our last night there, everything that's a force of nature happened except for snowing; it lightening, thundered, then rained, and a wind storm wrapped it all up for the night. Almost lost Jetta (mom almost let her out of the tent without her leash) with the all the going ons with Mother Nature, we were able to comfort her through the night, my poor baby. Sky on the other hand slept through it all.

Vegas here we come, left Grand Canyon, and we stopped at the Hoover Dam for some pics. I was glad that the weather wasn't as bad as before, so Jetta had a good ride this time. Had a few hairy incidents on the road in Arizona, cars playing chicken with Campers, hmmmm, who do you think would win that one, but I'm sure everyone was screaming at the top of their lungs, and watching their lives flash before their eyes. Scared the crap out of me, had to pull off one exit just to catch my breath.

Arrived in Vegas, Vivaaaaa Las Vegas!!! Checked into our room, all is well. After dinner, I went and made my donation to the state of Nevada. No, it's not gambling, it's a donation. I was good though, lost only $60.

Leaving Vegas, long long long drive home. We left at 9am, arrived in Petaluma at 7:30pm. That is the last freakin long long ass drive I'm ever doing unless it's one way. It was a fabulous trip all in all, and my son got to experience the vast land this county has. In New Mexico, we even chatted with a Veteran Native American Navajo Indian, hell a cool guy. It was great seeing the land and being a part of a stranger's life even for a few seconds, it was wonderful.

Jetta had to be treated at the vet today due to some allergy she picked up at the Grand Canyon, so she's knocked out on Antihisames, and has yucky gook on her elbows to keep her from licking her wounds. She is doing better than she did over the weekend. It was great seeing most of you at the Faire yesterday, it was great being back, I really missed you all. See you soon, and thanks again for staying connected with me on my travels.
