listening to creeping death from metallica's ride the lightning album while reading the words "your bright shining light will give everyone around you the permission and inspiration to shine more brightly."

nice.

wow. is it possible that after all this time I could crush on moontribe again? this gathering was special.

i was asked to ponder my gratitude for moontribe - to consider what kind of impact this group of freaks has had on my life. i never really had a laundry list of things come to my mind but one thing was clear. my life would not be what it is today if it were not for moontribe. period. so i decided to take the intention of gratitude with me to the gathering and as it turned out - so did a lot of other people.

i'm not sure where to even start - the location - the music - my door shift - priceless vibrator advice - sunrise 1 and sunrise 2 - coffee and the communal kitchen - the communal shower (hello?) - the art - the flow - the love and magic that was available at every turn - the people that showed up after having not been to a gathering for 5 + years - the people that drove over 10 hours to make it - pancakes - mimosas - the kid parade - the mirror that was constantantly being put in front of my face to see who i am - i could go on and on and on.....

was it you? was it me? something was different about this gathering.....i can't put my finger on it exactly but i can say that i am all glowing and happy inside. uh oh...i am going to have to bust out in song and dance!

thanks all for such a funky time!

PS - TO ALL THAT DID NOT MAKE IT OUT - YOU WERE MISSED!

So I'm working on this series of faces that will be first photographed together in various compositions and then I'll have at each of them individually.

John's was my 5th pouring using plaster of paris and I've learned something each and every time I've done one. I knew his was going to need a lot of plaster because well, John's head is larger than one might guess. I ended up not adding enough water to the mixture and the damn stuff was starting to harden too fast. I panicked and just squashed some into his face hoping that it made it down into his nose. By then, the mixture was almost completely useless so what did I do? I panicked more of course! I just started shoving bunches of it into the mold with my hands and the result is actually quite perfect!

One of the best and most confusing things I've learned this past year is that sometimes, mistakes produce highly desirable results. Of course, sometimes they do not but that is an entirely different entry all together.

Update: John has since corrected me. It's not that he has a large head per se, it's that he has a large face and I agree actually

The past year, I have been driving a lot around the streets of Los Angeles for my job. As a result, I have come across many broken traffic lights and have become fascinated with the traffic cops. Has anyone noticed that there is a standard language with which the traffic cop directs traffic? The motioning of their hands is somewhat reminiscent of the Miss USA wave but by FAR better. I've seen everything from the guy who just can not bring himself to direct with the flare that is clearly part of the traffic cops training (having something to do with the wrist) to the absolute opposite extreme.

I can only hope that you get a chance to witness the traffic cop waltz KING. This is the guy who you know is dancing his ass off in the cage on the weekend and LOVES his job. If there was a traffic cop waltz contest, this guy would win it hands down. I've seen him!!! I couldn't help but start giggling with glee at the spectacle I was witnessing. At that moment the king looks over to me with a look on his face that said “but wait, there's MORE!" He released the most dramatic and graceful whole body swooshing gesture directing me to turn left. I’ve never seen anything like it and I love it when someone goes the extra mile! I'm thinking about starting a fan club...seriously.
