about me
In 1984, I was a waitress attending a community college, with absolutely no direction. I had no plans, no ambition and I just went through my day trying to not feel like a total mouse next to my roommate. Then I discovered that someone was killing women with my name, going through the phone book and I was next.
The next twenty-four hours or so are a blur, it seems like they went by in about 108 minutes. The killer came after me, while I waited for the police to come get me. A man, Kyle Reese, came to my rescue, got me away but he was telling me crazy shit about my son being the savior of the human race after the machines took over, thanks to a computer called Skynet made by Cyberdyne. And that the killer WAS a machine called a Terminator. I knew it was insane, but then he did get up after being shot.... The police caught up with us, the killer who had been chasing us still had disappeared. I thought I was safe, while grief stricken over the murders of my roommate and her boyfriend. But the killer came to the police station and killed most of the officers, the "lunatic" again saved me. I began to believe. I fell in love with him, yes, I know it was quick. He died so that I could live and I managed to destroy the machine. My life was shattered, so many in it were dead, including my mother, due to this machine. I realized that if my son was going to fulfill his destiny I had to be able to teach him. Going south of the border I found survivalists to learn from, I had my baby, I raised him in various locations always learning, always getting stronger, smarter, more prepared. I kept thinking about what my beloved Kyle had said at one point. That "the future is not set, there is no fate but what we make." So I went about trying to learn how the war with the machines got started. I had a lead about a computer factory, but my attempt to blow it up led me to get shot and arrested. I got to play with the same doctor that Kyle had to deal with when he was arrested 10 years before. My son was found and put into foster care. Another, more advanced Terminator was sent to kill him while I was locked up. The Resistance sent, of all things, yet another Terminator, the same make and model that tried to kill me, to protect him. He was reprogrammed, but when they came while I was escaping from the psych prison I had trouble trusting him after all I'd been through before. We first were going to go back to some of my colleagues in Central and South America, but I remembered Kyle's words again and was determined I WOULD keep my son from having to live through Judgment Day. I nearly killed the Miles Dyson who was to create Skynet, having nearly lost all sense of the value of human life. I stopped myself just before John and the Terminator arrived. Dyson was horrified by what he was going to do, he helped us go in to destroy all his work. The police shot him, but of course I have been blamed for his death. He bravely stayed behind to let us get out before detonating the explosives. We finally destroyed the T-1000 Terminator after us, the other one had me destroy him so that his components couldn't someday be found and used to start it all over again. We succeeded at making our own fate at least for awhile, although now who knows what the future will bring. However, we were being pursued as terrorists for this because no one understands we saved their asses. At least for awhile, as I said. We made our way down to South America. Then strange things began to happen. There were rumors that I died right after the date that Judgment day would have happened if we hadn't blown up Dyson's work at Cyberdyne. That my son became a whiny loser roaming the US and that he came to believe that Judgment Day came and was in hiding. We wondered if this was a plot by the Feds to get us out of hiding, but it made little sense. I mean, them believing this could only help us. Now it seems that people think that we've both became skinny, whiny losers who then time traveled to this time, as our younger selves. That we'd lost all survival intelligence, that we stayed in the US, that we'd have used my beloved Reese's name as an alias (how STUPID! my records certainly name him!), that my taste in men declined severely. Again, is this some strange plot to get us out of hiding? If it is, then I know that we only managed to delay things. I actually think that the Feds are more intelligent than this, it must be Skynet's warped concepts of how humans are. Anyway, if anyone thinks these two are us, then that's they're problem. We're still prepared, we're still strong and the names we use are not going to be easily figured out.

Shortly after blowing up Cyberdyne and preventing, or delaying, Judgment day, Sarah Connor and her son John returned to an undisclosed location in South America to avoid capture by the US Federal agents after them and to continue to prepare in case they hadn't stopped it totally. They worked with a small group of survivalists, who they knew would be the core of the Resistance if things did go that way.

I love that she brings up it having been the era of low-fat and that that probably screwed her brain up a bit. It also shows how genetically gifted she is, because low-fat/high-carb diets are actually really hard to build muscle on (low-carb diets have actually been popular with bodybuilders since at least the '70s). At one point it seemed she was not happy about being the fitness icon she is, seems at the time of this interview she is. ~:D I, however, think that the judges must be lacking fat in their own brains for not putting her higher.
Yes! We finally have profiles up on The Sarah Connor Charm School site! Please check it out! I know you can find the link. And another First Line of Defense, well, two if you count the lazy ass who just has photos of her animals at this point (that would be me).

I still want to tweak a bit, do some captions. And I so want to do some new photos and find a real "hippy" before photo for me that really works. Now it sucks I was so damn camera shy back then. And why was I? I certainly am not now. I also will probably be doing some workout photos next weekend and in about a month should have some range ones. Maybe. Which is a reminder to those considering this, it can indeed be an ongoing project, you are not going to be committed to the first stuff you send me. Have only one or two photos you like right now, send them along! You can add more later. Or replace as well. Any women who want to join us with their story please join the Yahoo! group. Of course, those who don't want to do a full profile (or at least not yet) are always welcome to send photos for the curriculum, What Is, and other pages. Or you can just do a pet page. Come on! Now that I have some real content I am hungry for more! Over the weekend we got free weights. I got two 8 lb weights and the hubz got two 15 lb weights. I have been doing calisthenics twice a week now - on Tuesday and Thursday nights, and so last night we added a bit of free weights to the routine of crunches, push ups, leg lifts, butt lifts and stretching. We did squats, lunges, and several different arm, shoulder and back exercises. We didn't overdo it, and even though I felt tired this AM upon waking, there was no pain. We spent the morning at the range, about 2 hours.
The owners got me a 3D deer target (I think my husband and I are the only ones who do archery there) and so we got to play with that for about an hour today. It was fun. I felt pretty cool because a bunch of people were watching as we were setting it up and one guy was asking me "how can you shot your bow with a hat and glasses on? It gets in the way..." I took my first shot and got it right in the heart, and the owner was like "I guess like that!".
Then we also did some shooting - my husband's Springfiled DX sub compact and our latest addition, the Mossberg 500 Cruiser .
I am making a buffalo stew for dinner tonight with carrots, potatoes, mushrooms, sauerkraut and tomatoes. It smells awesome right now, and I think is just the ticket for this cold night. I think I am gonna freeze when I do my offering to Wuldor tonight...but you know what, He's worth it. ;)

I want to apologize to everyone. I have become a tyrant. I okayed these without putting them out there for everyone. But then again, most of you have been pretty quiet. So, I"m going to hold on to some of my tyrannical power and I'm going to put include a "professional warrior" category and include these two links, unless someone makes a strong case against it and you all tell me to take them down. Not sure it's going to be an issue, but, of course, this is something that should be true of all nominations...you can oppose them, if you see reason. But you will have to convince enough others to really get them off. At this point, because I don't want to just wait for votes on these thing, it's just how it's going to work. Of course, revolution is allowed, if anyone wants to take power. ~;p

If you wish to nominate a candidate for an Honorary Degree from The Sarah Connor Charm School, any woman who has displayed bravery, skill and resourcefulness in the face of confrontation...documentation please (that means please submit a link to the news story) you may do so in this post. Thank you! We all know that some of the most important parts of the SCCS curriculum includes training of various kinds, like weight lifting, running, hiking, weapons training and martial arts. There is also a thread of survivalism that runs through the membership as well. So I thought it would be interesting to open a discussion about what we do to keep our bodies strong, in terms of diet and supplements to do the training necessary to get ready for the coming of the Terminators. We can learn a lot by sharing different diets various members eat to prepare for the possibility of no grocery stores or restaurants after civilization as we know it is over....
(cut for length)
For myself I take a few daily supplements: Multivitamin, Carnitine, Glutamine and Cod Liver Oil. These all support my immune system, brain function and energy levels. I also have a medicine closet full of various homepathics for immue support and general health as well as vitamin C and herbal formulas for when we get sick. Very rarely do we need to go to the doctor when we get sick, as we can usually take care of the problem with what we already have at home.
Diet: My diet consists of mostly vegetables, dairy, lean meats and legumes, as well as fruit and nuts.
Breakfast: I generally have some kind of protein - whether it be eggs or peanut butter or various kinds of cheese. I have also been known to eat smoked fish (wild salmon or mackerel) or maybe even buffalo patties. I usually have a slice of toast as well. Sometimes it will just be toast with cheese on top. I always have some kind of seasonal fruit and usually kefir (cultured milk) or a green smoothie (full of green veggies, fruits, seaweed and algae) and of course coffee.
Lunch: It depends a lot on the time of year. In colder weather I enjoy something hot like soup, or a warm bean dish. In the summer, I love a salad full of veggies, cheese, nuts, sunflower seeds, maybe even raisins or craisins if I am feeling really bold. I also like to make homemade dressings to put on top. Sometimes, if I am not feeling adventurous, I will make a hummus sandwich with veggies and cheese. Salami and cheese with pickles is also a big favorite. Sometimes I might just do an antipasto plate with whatever is lying about.
Dinner: Dinner is usually when I have some kind of meat - be it fish, or grassfed beef, buffalo, or free range chicken. I love sauteed greens like swiss chard, kale, or beet greens. Right now I am also into roasted root veggies and mushrooms. I am a big fan of potatoes too, so those are featured in many meals.
I make all our bread at home, and we have started a small garden - we live in a condo right now, with a teeny tiny porch, but we have several tomato plants, herbs, 2 varieties of peppers and strawberries. We try to eat as seasonally as possible and buy most of our produce local from the farmers market. We also make our own ice cream. I am hoping to start canning this year and learning how to make cheese and yogurt. We have plans to buy land in the next year and then we can start a proper garden and raise some animals too, making us even less dependent on grocery stores.
So what about everyone else? What do you do to keep your body healthy and prepare for the possibility of finding alternate food sources?
Seems that McG is saying he's courting Linda Hamilton but only for her voice. He apparently wants her to do voice overs, in the manner of the tapes she was doing at the end of Terminator and the voice overs in Terminator 2. Also not a done deal, however, so we'll see. If she does it, it might get me to to rent the DVD. Not liking anything else I'm hearing, although I will say that Bale isn't as bad as the other two who followed Furlong in the role of John.

Another, very late, bit of franchise news is that The Terminator was among the 2008 selections for the National Film Registry. The full list is here. Hello. I thought I would start by posting a quick intro. I was told about this community by my lj friend (pics also X-posted to my LJ)
I have always had a goal of working towards having "Linda Hamilton Arms". Her character has always been a big motivation for any physical training I have done in the past from martial arts, to weight lifting and certainly now, archery and the survival skills I am learning about.
We are also making plans and studying about homesteading, sustainability and survival skills, so that we can be as self sufficient as possible when the terminators do eventually come. We live with our first lines of defense, our dog - a very keen chihuahua/Italian greyhound mix, named Pepino and our black cat, Nimue.
*edited to add picture of nimue
Okay, this was too fun, so I'm posting here, as well as submitting to the SCCS page. Enjoy.

Lur* the Rabbit I'll probably never know Lur's origin story, why or how he escaped from his previous human companions, or what he may have learned about or experienced of Terminators in his early life, or why he was chasing that orange cat. What I do know is that he was seen by several persons patrolling the neighborhood for over a month in late summer 2008. He apparently had a route, stopping briefly in selected yards along the way. On several occasions he spent a little more time in my yard, visiting my guinea pigs, who like to spend warm days eating the lawn, enclosed in a fence. Rabbit would run laps around their corral and stop to sniff noses. He seemed friendly and not really afraid of me, but wouldn't let me get close enough to touch. By the end of September it was starting to get cold, and even though he seemed quite happy with his independent lifestyle when I saw him, I was beginning to get concerned about him (not to mention impressed that he hadn't been a casualty of hawks, cars, dogs, terminators, stupid kids, or cats - though it appears he has no fear of cats). I decided I would try to catch him. So on one warm day, the pigs were out doing their mowing duties; Rabbit showed up. It was easy enough to catch him - I just opened one side of the fence, he did his laps and of course went inside. I had me a rabbit. I did some reconnaissance (er, talked to the neighbors) shortly after catching him and found out that the people who owned him were less than desirable humans (a sad story about a sick dog they never took to the vet) and my neighbors bluntly told me I should keep him and not return him to these people. At first Lur wasn't too thrilled about being captive. He seemed healthy, had a flea or two, which was easily taken care of. He ended up getting neutered, so that he could be a free range rabbit in my house (after rabbit-proofing) without worries of spraying behavior - he had immediately proved he was litter trained the first night he moved in. In addition to having run of the place, he spends a little time most days outside (even in winter - he's doesn't mind cold too much) in the fence. He likes to train (play) by being "scared" with various pieces of dirty or clean laundry being waved over him, which makes him run away under the bed, returning about 2 seconds later to be "chased" again. Lur provides protection services much in the same way as "watch dog" except that he makes no vocal warning; rather, his ears will reveal the presence of friends or foes approaching our home. He also gives warning by stomping his foot if something is truly scaring him. I can tell he'd still like to take off some days (who knows what he used to do out there in "the wild"), but he seems pretty happy in his new home too. *My brother informs me that "Lur" is a character on the animated tv show Futurama. The origin of Rabbit's name was totally independent, and any resemblance to any other animals, humans, aliens, machines, machines or aliens disguised as humans or animals, fictional or otherwise, is purely coincidental. Rabbit at the ready, protecting home. Relaxing after long session of being chased by faux evil dirty laundry phantasms. originally published at Sarah Connor Charm School
We finally have two projects up, as well as new animal pages and photos scattered about. The site is getting tweaked at least once a week right now and hopefully that will continue.
