about me
In 1984, I was a waitress attending a community college, with absolutely no direction. I had no plans, no ambition and I just went through my day trying to not feel like a total mouse next to my roommate. Then I discovered that someone was killing women with my name, going through the phone book and I was next.

The next twenty-four hours or so are a blur, it seems like they went by in about 108 minutes. The killer came after me, while I waited for the police to come get me. A man, Kyle Reese, came to my rescue, got me away but he was telling me crazy shit about my son being the savior of the human race after the machines took over, thanks to a computer called Skynet made by Cyberdyne. And that the killer WAS a machine called a Terminator. I knew it was insane, but then he did get up after being shot....

The police caught up with us, the killer who had been chasing us still had disappeared. I thought I was safe, while grief stricken over the murders of my roommate and her boyfriend. But the killer came to the police station and killed most of the officers, the "lunatic" again saved me.

I began to believe. I fell in love with him, yes, I know it was quick. He died so that I could live and I managed to destroy the machine. My life was shattered, so many in it were dead, including my mother, due to this machine.

I realized that if my son was going to fulfill his destiny I had to be able to teach him. Going south of the border I found survivalists to learn from, I had my baby, I raised him in various locations always learning, always getting stronger, smarter, more prepared.

I kept thinking about what my beloved Kyle had said at one point. That "the future is not set, there is no fate but what we make." So I went about trying to learn how the war with the machines got started. I had a lead about a computer factory, but my attempt to blow it up led me to get shot and arrested. I got to play with the same doctor that Kyle had to deal with when he was arrested 10 years before. My son was found and put into foster care.

Another, more advanced Terminator was sent to kill him while I was locked up. The Resistance sent, of all things, yet another Terminator, the same make and model that tried to kill me, to protect him. He was reprogrammed, but when they came while I was escaping from the psych prison I had trouble trusting him after all I'd been through before. We first were going to go back to some of my colleagues in Central and South America, but I remembered Kyle's words again and was determined I WOULD keep my son from having to live through Judgment Day.

I nearly killed the Miles Dyson who was to create Skynet, having nearly lost all sense of the value of human life. I stopped myself just before John and the Terminator arrived. Dyson was horrified by what he was going to do, he helped us go in to destroy all his work. The police shot him, but of course I have been blamed for his death. He bravely stayed behind to let us get out before detonating the explosives. We finally destroyed the T-1000 Terminator after us, the other one had me destroy him so that his components couldn't someday be found and used to start it all over again.

We succeeded at making our own fate at least for awhile, although now who knows what the future will bring. However, we were being pursued as terrorists for this because no one understands we saved their asses. At least for awhile, as I said. We made our way down to South America.

Then strange things began to happen. There were rumors that I died right after the date that Judgment day would have happened if we hadn't blown up Dyson's work at Cyberdyne. That my son became a whiny loser roaming the US and that he came to believe that Judgment Day came and was in hiding. We wondered if this was a plot by the Feds to get us out of hiding, but it made little sense. I mean, them believing this could only help us.

Now it seems that people think that we've both became skinny, whiny losers who then time traveled to this time, as our younger selves. That we'd lost all survival intelligence, that we stayed in the US, that we'd have used my beloved Reese's name as an alias (how STUPID! my records certainly name him!), that my taste in men declined severely. Again, is this some strange plot to get us out of hiding?

If it is, then I know that we only managed to delay things. I actually think that the Feds are more intelligent than this, it must be Skynet's warped concepts of how humans are. Anyway, if anyone thinks these two are us, then that's they're problem. We're still prepared, we're still strong and the names we use are not going to be easily figured out.

Sarah Connor Charm School

Shortly after blowing up Cyberdyne and preventing, or delaying, Judgment day, Sarah Connor and her son John returned to an undisclosed location in South America to avoid capture by the US Federal agents after them and to continue to prepare in case they hadn't stopped it totally. They worked with a small group of survivalists, who they knew would be the core of the Resistance if things did go that way.

At one point Sarah happened upon a small group of do-gooder hippies, with some Peace Corp knockoff that obviously was less well organized and careless, who had been taken prisoner with one of the less savory drug runners that I sometimes had to deal with. She and her people got them out. Most were ungrateful little twits, claiming the rag-tag group of survivalists were just as evil. But a couple realized that their pacifist ways were no good when confronted with those who would hurt them. They joined. One of the women, seeing that most of our group was male other than wives and daughters (who are as tough and prepared) talked Sarah into starting the The Sarah Connor Charm School, to use her Waitress-to-Warrior story to empower other women to become fighters too. While many such women have joined the group in South America, there are those who are keeping camps going in various secret locations throughout the Americas, and now beyond.

The women who do and have trained with the Sarah Connor Charm School come from a wide range of backgrounds. Some have previously been athletic, even warriors, others never imagined themselves to be. Some have even come from traumatic backgrounds, others had been victims to their own addictions, some just once thought that the world was a much safer place than it turned out to be, some lived lives of luxury and found it meaningless. Those already aware of their strength found a new purpose for it, those who never had any idea how strong they really were found that strength as well.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, the Sarah Connor Charm School could be described as a sort of art project. Initially, shortly after the film Terminator 2 it was to simply be an ad in a Pagan parody 'zine which never happened. The idea never completely died when the publication idea did, however, and over the years in evolved. In the past few years the idea was to do a website....which we're obviously finally getting around to. It will eventually feature before and after photos, some very much the real story of the women in the photos, some a bit exaggerated (Saigh was never THAT much of a hippy, really) and others completely fabricated characters created by the models. There has been one photo shoot for this, others are being discussed. Sadly, only one model has so far actually gotten photos ready for it, as we're letting the models get them to their liking themselves.

The project had gotten back-burnered repeatedly. It's fun, but not a priority with other things going on for those involved. So, yes, since word came down about That TV Show some have been a bit more inspired to do something here.

Sarah Connor has been an inspiration for many women, some of us NOT the victim type to begin with but we know some whose lives the character has transformed, to become stronger, fitter and more prepared. She has been a role model for many in both her physique and her survivalist savvy. Played by Linda Hamilton she evolved at the end of the first Terminator movie from just another Final Girl to a Warrior when it was clear she made the choice not only to survive but to transform herself into someone who could train another to fight. In the second movie, the results of that transformation were clear. Actress Linda Hamilton had trained hard both to build the muscle that a woman like her character would have worked for and to effectively portray fighting and weapon handling, just Hamilton's dedication is inspiring.

Over these past years she still remains our ultimate role model both those of us primarily interested in the physical feminist part and those of us who are, in fact, survivalists. We continue to strive to make sure no one forgets that Linda Hamilton's Sarah Connor is the REAL Sarah Connor. And to continue to promote physical feminism and survivalism in our icon's name.

For awhile after the movie came out, we saw fit women become showcased in the media far more than ever. It was a wonderful trend. We rage against the current message that emaciation is in. We rage against the pro-anorexia message just as much as we do against the pro-anorexia "support" groups that have flooded the internet.

We continue to strive to get the message across that women can be strong, powerful, capable and beautiful...that we are fighters and we will not be turned into frail tiny dolls!

Strength is beautiful!

First the bad. While I guess it's not official official until next month's announcement from FOX, it does appear That TV Show is getting a second season. The ratings were pretty high, especially for such a poorly done show...and pretty much everything new this past season sucked(Except for one as far as what I saw and we'll get to that in a moment). Despite the fact that it should have ended with T2 it's still a hot franchise...they'll ride it. Especially with the fourth movie set to come out next year (that in a moment too). Too bad they're not recasting the prime role AND promising to get in some actual writers. Variety article

On to T4...the female lead role has finally been cast after three prime male roles have long been. Moon Bloodgood will be playing "a no-nonsense and battle-hardened member of the resistance" ridden with guilt. She played Livia in the ONLY good new show of last season of all the ones I checked out (not Abrams, Carter or Whedon good..but well written, well directed and well acted which cannot be said for any others I got to see...so, of course, it's canceled) Journeyman. I sort of don't care about any of the future franchise at this point, as it really has stopped with T2 for me given how bad everything else has been since Hamilton and Cameron parted ways with the franchise. She WAS very good in Journeyman but it's the only thing I've seen her in, so I don't know if she can carry off what the article describes or not. I don't see it, but I could be wrong this time. I'm inspired by the previous post to include a page for honorary grads of The Sarah Connor Charm School. These would be real life women and girls who have kicked some righteous ass.

Nominations will be continually open and will be "semi" voted on. Basically if no one expresses a problem then I'd include the candidate in question. If, for some reason, someone doesn't feel someone should be included then they can open the floor for discussion as to why. No speaking up does imply you're okay with the nominee...because if I wait for everyone this will never get done as is the way of the intrawebz.

Right now I'm thinking the woman in the link above, the girls who took down a the pedophile who exposed himself to them Edit to ad link: http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/Northeast/10/31/cnna.catholicgirls/index.html and the "older" (I may well now be the age she was then LOL) woman who grabbed her would-be rapists genitals and "wrung them like a dishrag" if I can find anything about that (I saw her on TV sometime in the '90s I think...I think I remembered her name for years, but now forget...Google hasn't helped so far...ANYONE?! It's an awesome story). There should be others I could think of, but my brain has not recovered from the Zombie Virus from Hell(tm) apparently.

BTW, as there is no new content yet and I have a link on the old one, I failed to mention that the website has moved to http://cyberpict.net/sccs/ due to the annoying pop-ups on Envy.nu. There are rumors of some other new content coming soon. ~;)

A thief made the mistake of a lifetime recently. He broke into professional female boxer Derdre Rodriguez's house and tried to steal her PS3, PSP and videogames as she lay sleeping. She woke up, saw the robber climbing out of her window, chased him down, smashed his head in with an ice chipper, then, in the most awesome coupe-de-grace ever, the former pugilist forced the thief to pick up the stolen electronics he'd dropped during the chase (A PlayStation 3, a PSP, cell phones and videogames). She then made him wait in the house for the cops to show up and arrest him.

So, now that he is back to discuss the show after his self-imposed silence during the strike, Josh Friedman has issued a challenge:

"I would also like to mention that anyone who thinks Lena Headey isn't big enough or tough enough to play Sarah Connor has not had the unpleasant surprise of been punched by her. I have—and I can only hope that someday each and every one of her doubters can experience her qualifications in this very clear and personal way."

Now I'm all for it. The only thing is that I'll let her have one free punch, but I get to hit back. ~;) Of course, being fucking poor, someone out there will have to foot the bill for me to be in the same place AND for any wages lost during the time so that I don't have to waste my precious PTO.

Also, watch him try to back-peddle on the Endo-head going through the time displacement device. Claims it had flesh but it was being burned off. BUUUZZZ! Still doesn't even bother to explain why the clothing just disappeared and they went through without pain.

And yes, Friedman, we DO blame you for how suck ass this show is. Many of us who tried to sit through your muck up of War of the Worlds wouldn't expect anything more.

Also in That TV Show news: Seems that the writers took a potshot at Hamilton. Or did they? Whether it was meant or not, it seems like a really bad idea when they know that there are fans who are pissed as hells at the casting of this role and with remarks already made against Hamilton's fans who have spoken out. Seems a resistance fighter from the future told Headey's "Sarah" "You're prettier than in your picture." (there is a "big spoiler" in this...but does anyone reading this who didn't see it care?) Now I don't care how many times a photo of Headey is used to replace it to try to fix this, I think that's really fucked! If even those who think Headey's okay in the role saw it might be an attack? No, that was really seriously fucked. Of course, they may well think, likely rightly as if any of you were bothering you'd probably have posted about THIS, that none of us are watching anymore...but it still is fucked.

And, of course, absolutely not true. Not even remotely. I won't be so unkind to go further than that.

For those who don't know, my father is a film professor, whose studies often center in the area of propaganda through entertainment. Currently, he is working on a book (coauthored with my stepmother, a psychologist) on macho stereotypes in war movies: become a soldier, it'll make a man out of you!

He was working on a tangental section on women in science fiction movies: basically, that women are pretty much only allowed to be physically strong and tough in the future, though that has changed some in the past decade. (He was watching G.I. JANE when I dropped by a few days ago.)

He called to ask me if he was totally off-base in saying that the current crop of kickass movie heroines pretty much had their genesis in Sarah Conner of TERMINATOR 2 and Ellen Ripley of ALIENS. I thought that was a pretty fair assessment - it leaves out a ton, but those are probably the two that spring to mind first.

Am I nuts?

(Oh, and I suggested he could expound on this subject a great deal, but apparently it's only a five-paragraph sidebar to the main topic. He did, however, enjoy my ten-minute spiel on physical feminism and backlash. I loaned him my copy of BRAVE DAMES AND WIMPETTES, which I highly recommend.)
