<div>Ann Wilson of Heart. The Pipes. The Power. The Range. The Rock n Roll Soul. She's still got it ALL!!!!

I just got back from seeing Heart at The Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix. Poor little theater. It no longer has a roof. Heart blew it to bits!

They were AWESOME! Sounded as good as they did 10, 20, however many years ago. They played not only our fave songs, but since they are Led Zeppelin fans themselves, they played 2 Zep songs. I'm sorry, Robert, but Ann can sing a better Plant than YOU can!!! FUCK YEA!! The screaching in Immigrant Song... sorry Bobby-boy, that song now belongs to HER! Go play around with boring, stiff, little-miss-bluegrass all you want. I think Page should approach ANN WILSON about going on a tour! Screw him, get HER!

I'm on a Heart-induced high right now. I'm going to have to hit myself on the head with a brick so I can fall asleep. I'm sure I'll hear that voice swirling around in my head as I sleep. If I can sleep. </div>

YAY for Times Square!!!

<div>Times Square getting its first 'green' billboard

Sun Nov 16, 12:11 am ETNEW YORK – This winter, New Year's Eve revelers will have a close-up view of Times Square's first environmentally friendly billboard powered entirely by wind and sun.

But the billboard might not be quite as dazzling as some of its high-powered neighbors along the Great White Way.

Construction on the 35,000-pound sign advertising Ricoh Americas Corp. is to begin this month across the avenue from the building where the ball drops on New Year's Eve.

Powered by 16 wind turbines and 64 solar panels, the sign is expected to save $12,000 to $15,000 per month in electricity costs. Ricoh, an office equipment and document storage supplier, estimates the sign will also keep 18 tons of carbon out of the environment.

The billboard will be lit by floodlights rather than light-emitting diodes. It won't have a backup generator, so it could go dark during a long period with little wind or sun.

But Ricoh spokesman Ron Potesky said the sign's turbines will probably be able to keep the billboard lit even after four days without breezes or bright sun.

"The point is that there are ways of being environmentally friendly to the planet, even on a billboard," Potesky said.

A lighting ceremony for the 126-foot wide, 47-foot tall sign is scheduled for Dec. 4.

<div>Uh.... no... not THAT army! The Army of Women!

Dr. Susan Love is looking for a million women who do NOT have breast cancer for research as part of the Love/Avon Army of Women project. We need more research in the differences between women who have gotten breast cancer and those who have not. Yes, we need to be able to treat those who get the disease, but wouldn't it be nice to if the medical community could figure out WHY women get it to begin with?

By registering with http://www.armyofwomen.org/, a medical researcher might contact me for some sort of testing (maybe a blood sample or something like that). I'm more than willing to help. I know too many people who have battled breast cancer (and, thankfully, kicked it's butt!) but it would be nice to not have to worry about it. I registered. I'll do my part. Will you do yours?

MEN: Please copy this and send it to your female family members and friends!!

For more info and to register, go here: http://www.armyofwomen.org/

Some talk the talk. Others walk the walk. Wanna walk with me?

<div>Aaaaaahhhhh.... Sting..... The Police....

***AWESOME*** show!

OK, so yes, rumor is true. Sting is sporting a beard. I honestly think he's grown it so he doesn't look too young next to his bandmates! Let's just say he's aging best of the three. The beard makes him look older, but any way you slice it, he's still HOT!

These guys rocked! Sting did appear, to my untrained ears, to have stuggled a couple of times with his voice. Those pesky high notes, you know. But overall, he still sounded great.

I have a whole new appreciation for Stuart Copeland. This is the first time I've seen him play (either live, or for a long time, on video) so I never realized he played with a traditional grip of the drumstick in his left hand. You don't see THAT every day! Every time I see a band nowadays I check out how the drummer is holding his stick (DRUM stick... get your minds out of the gutter). Stuart is the first rock drummer I've seen hold the left drumstick palm-up. Cooooooooool! OK, so I'm a little fixated on the drummer, but that's cuz I have an interest in playing them myself. Andy on guitar has still got game. It's amazing how much sound can come out just 3 guys!

OH... and I thought this was cool too. Elvis Costello opened up the show. OK, so I'm not a huge fan but I was curious to see what he sounded like. Not my personal cup of tea but he sounded fine. But what I thought was cool was that Sting just walked out on stage and sang Allison with Elvis. I love that stuff.

Hee hee hee.... and I called it. Roxanne was the first song of the encore. Am I good or am I good? Why can't I pick winning powerball numbers?

<div>I just danced my last gig for a while. One tiny little 12-minute, 3-song set at a fave place of mine. It was a committment I made for a private party.

I have a great relationship with the owners of this place and I want to keep it. I had to tell them that I'll be sidelined for a while due to pending surgery. They are awesome. Very understanding. Wishing me the best... and to let them know as soon as I'm available again.

My foot hurts. One 12-minute set and that damned foot hurts. I didn't even inclue a drum solo!! I hope I can walk on it tomorrow.

<div>How sadistic does one have to be to have come up with a device that beeps at a certain number of beeps per minute, with which one practices a musical instrument? Was this invented to shatter any sense of "I can do this!" innate in a baby-musician just trying to practice her rhythms?

OK, I see the need. I mean, drumming is all about timing, ya? So for one to play drums well one must be able to keep time steadily and consistently. But DAMN! I hate that little gadget! Something tells me I may be going through several of these as I'm currently fighting the urge to throw mine against the wall. I'd better keep an eye out for sales at Sam Ash!

Well, at least my triplets are improving already. But still... what a pain in the butt!! I hate that damned thing!

<div>Hi Mom,

I miss you terribly. Still. Even after 15.5 years since cancer took you away from me.

Dana and I had a little ice cream cake to celebrate your birthday. I tell her all about you. I think she misses you too even though she never met you. She certainly feels a little tug for me because you're gone. She senses that little empty hole where you used to be. Mom, she's growing up to be such an empathetic kid. I know you'd love her to bits if you ever had the chance to meet her. And she's made honor roll at school. I know you'd be doing handsprings for that if you could. Maybe you are. I just don't know.

Well, I love you. I miss you. Please keep looking out for us. If you see that I'm doing something stupid, feel free to smack me in the head. Coming from you, I'd be OK with it.

Luv u.

Your PC can cure a disease? You BET!!!

<div>Folks,

Read this. I signed up and downloaded the software and am running it now. Since my PC is alive even when I'm not at home or using it, it may as well be used to help find cures for diseases.

Read this and then PLEASE sign up if you possibly can. I think it's a hugely worthwhile project.

WORKSHOP ALERT: Make a coin costume with AZITA! (Phx)

<div>Note for Phoenix Area Dancers:

I don't have all the juicy details in front of me, but the ever-so-lovely Azita is putting on a 3-Mondays-in-a-row workshop on making your own coin costume!

Her workshop starts this coming Monday, 8/13 and continues on Monday, 8/20 and ends on Monday 8/27 (it's 3 nights to complete the workshop and finish the costume).

You need to bring a bra, some "cover" fabric, and any trims you'd like to use. She will be supplying the belt base plus all the coinage.

Please check out her website www.azitaimports.com for more details. She has a flyer there that explains it all.

I think it's a GREAT DEAL as you'll not only come away with a new costume to add to your wardrobe but also the smarts to do another one on your own.

I'll be there. Hope to see you there as well!

<div>My bestest friend in the whole world just had her 2nd child... a baby girl named Kayli Ann. Tonight, she called me from the hospital and asked me to be her Godmother!! WOO HOO!!! OF COURSE!!! So, sometime around September/October-ish, I'll be flying out to Wisconsin for the festivities. I can't wait!!! And I can't wait to hold that little girl! I fell in love with her older brother last year (I flew to see him when he was about a month old) and now he has a sister that I'm sure I'll be in love with as well.

Dontcha just love babies???

Stevie Nicks....

<div>What a phenomenal voice!

We went to see Stevie Nicks at the Dodge Theatre last night. Talk about a show that I didn't want to see end!

What is it about her that I dig so much? She has the most unique voice that has ever graced this planet. She has written so many incredible songs. And dammit... after all of these years, she still sounds the same way she did back in 1971. She still puts on a great show. She's so incredibly human too. She told stories about her being a waitress to pay the rent while working on music. Is there anything more humanizing than struggling to pay your rent?

She is the pride of Phoenix. She calls this place her home. It's cool that I do it too!

Next time she comes to your area, go see her if you haven't already. I already can't wait until her next tour!

<div>From Big Blue.

Today is my last day with Big Blue. I seek technical assylum!

Found a much greener pasture. I will miss all the iSeries/System i5 tech geeks I've worked with for the past nearly 9 years, but at least I'll have my sanity back.

YAY ME!!!

Now, for life as a citizen. Can't wait to start!

11 People

<div>I stole this from Nisha's blog....

Can You Name 11 people
Body: can you name 11 people?
DO NOT READ THE WHOLE BULLETIN!!! JUST QUICKLY COPY AND PASTE.... DON'T SPOIL IT... seriously dont spoil it.

Name 11 people you can think of right off the top of your head. Don't read the questions underneath until you write the names of all 11 real people. This is a lot funnier if you actually randomly list the names first.. No cheating!!!

1. Dana
2. Dale
3. Debi
4. Nice
5. Dave F.
6. Steve
7. Marissa
8. Lisa
9. Mahin
10. Fay
11. Ava

DON'T LOOK AHEAD UNLESS U FILLED UP THE TOP!

How did you meet number 4?
At a BD class.

Do you like anyone on here?
I like everyone on this list.

What would you do if you hadn't met number 2?
Wow...I dunno. Guess I'd be a whole lot more bored than I am now LOL!!!

What would you do if 1 and 2 were going out?
ACK!! Aside from being ILLEGAL, I think I'd have to kill him.

What do u think of number 7?
I think she's trying her best.

What would you do if 3 confessed their love for you?
In "that" way?? I wouldn't believe it! She's my best gal pal!

Where does 5 live?
Mesa-ish.

Is number 2 ur best friend?
Yes.

Whose 9's best friend?
I would guess Jazmin.

Have you ever ate around 6?
Of course! I used to be married to him!

Do you miss number 1?
YESSSS! Whenever she's not with me!

Whose 1 dating?
NOBODY! She's only 8 years old!!! Don't push her!!!

What is your opinion of number 5?
He's just the coolest cat in town!

What do you think about number 4?
I think she's too busy to ever pick up the phone and call me! Since she's in law school, I'll let it slide.

Who does 5 like?
WOMEN!!!

Do you have any special thing you do with 11?
YES! I get my ass kicked and my brain frazzled by her every Tuesday in her dance class!!

Have you ever been inside 9's house?
Nope... but I'd love an invitation sometime! ;o) I hear she can cook! Since I can eat, well, we complement each other!

Would you marry number 2?
Shhhhhh..... it's a little early to be discussing that! ;o)

Do you love number 8?
Yes, but it saddens me that I don't get to see her nearly as often as I'd like to!

Slept in the same room as any of the numbers?
Yes, but I won't tell you which... hee hee hee!

Do you trust them?
They wouldn't be on the list if I didn't trust them.

<div>Yes, from classic film "The Wizard of Oz"....

"If I Only Had a Brain"

I'm not sure why that song just became stuck in my head. I may have to put the movie on later to see if I can un-stick it.

Things that make you go hmmmmmm.....</div>
