It's interesting when the Reno area starts kicking in.

Daaaaayum, Friday night was trippy. Jeff was almost killed when a large heavy bowling pin fell from a shelf above the piano and narrowly missed cracking his head open. Instead, it fell on the tip jar and smashed it into a billion pieces -- right in front of his face!! It's unreal that none went into his eyes!!

As for me, I was home getting ready for bed when it hit. I ran into the closet doorway. But remembered the next day that the BEST place thing to do during an earthquake is to lay on the floor next to your bed covered by a blanket or pillow. If the ceiling falls, the bed will break it's fall and leave a little cozy area for you to shake and cry in. ;O)

So glad (understatement of the year) that Jeff is alright. Whew.

On the USGS site have you gone to the "did you feel it" link? Great way for all of us armchair geologists to let the real ones know what we experienced.

At least you went to a closet. I just sat at my desk and thought, hmmmm. I'm not very bright. But fortunately most of the stuff on my walls is soft (scarves, hats, posters not in frames). And My bowling pin is in the closet... so maybe I'm brighter than I thought! :)

rodeo couch
we were on the couch when it hit.
we sat there stunned riding the couch
it was my first pretty big one
trains rumbling thru gerlach doesn't compare.
the big difference is that dizzy feeling afterward.
that's really disorienting. and the quake
was much louder than i imagined.
earth isn't pregnant with more dinosaurs is she?

We were in Harrah's and we had just seen "Greg London's Icons." As the earthquake hit I thought to myself, God this would suck if the last thing I saw on this earth was "Greg London's Icons!"

I'm glad Jeff is alright. Tell him he should wear a helmet from now on.

Mike, Jeff brought a bike helmet to work the next night and put it on when he went up on stage. tee-hee
He said he would have been SOOOOO BUMMED if he had died at the hands of a bowling pin -- he really hates bowling. The ONLY time he's ever gone bowling with me in the past 10 years he slipped and fell after throwing the FIRST ball. Instantly I thought "Oh, crap. Well, I guess we won't be coming bowling again anytime soon." Oh, and then I went to help him up. ;o)

How WAS Greg London's icons? I'm sort of sick of seeing his face on a billboard every single solitary time I get on the freeway -- I mean, he's been up there for like MONTHS!!!

Ginger, I felt that icky dizzy feeling too. Yuck.

Glad we're all okay. I've always said I wanted to experience an Earthquake as long as nobody gets hurt. Looks like my wish has come true twice in my life now.
