By weaving together a rich blend of Mythology, History and Fantasy, Alyra transports the observer to other times and secret landscapes where people can lose themselves in heady dreams of mystery, opulence and splendor. Utilizing her extensive classical education in Philosophy, Literature and Art with her diverse dance training, Alyra endeavors to express the endless reaches of the human imagination in her complex union of music, drama and dance.

Alyra is a professional dancer and an enthusiastic instructor. Her range of talent extends form spirited zills compositions and haunting veil variations to dramatic and powerful sword routines that captivate and mesmerize her viewers. Alyra is a full supporter of all forms of Bellydance. From traditional Egyptian and Turkish Cabaret to Tribal and the more modern Gothic Fusion and Contemporary practices, she strives to find a place in her craft for all of them by melding the best of each into her own unique style.

She has been blessed with many opportunities to perform in a diverse array of venues and has been featured by numerous television programs and newspaper articles. She writes extensively on the subject of bellydance and under the guise of her alter ego, Laura Cooper, she wrote the definitive instruction book on basic bellydance performance technique.
