Tagged! My 8 things

<div>SInce Amy tagged me, here we go:

1. I was born and raised in PA Dutch country, my first girlfriend and first love were both Mennonite girls.

2. I hate lima beans, I just can't stand the taste or texture of them, gross!

3. I love cartoons (which drives my wife nuts), especially The Farily Odd Parents, Jimmy Neutron and most things on Adult Swim.

4. I was a boy scout for a long time, I also served as an adult leader up until I was about 19.

5. I have weird toes, my pinky toes are smaller proportionally than they should be according to the rest of my toes.

6. When it comes to entertainment regarding movies or music, I am filled with useless trivia knowledge. If a Bugs Bunny cartoon is on TV, I can tell you what they'll say and what will happen next by just hearing the sound without seeing the picture. And don't even get me started on Lord of the Rings, I've seen all 3 countless times and have done several sessions of watching all 3 extended versions back-to-back.

7. I started my first job in media as a DJ at an oldies radio station in Palmyra, PA when I was 17. I worked mainly on Sunday mornings and was known as the "God Squad" because my shift started off with Christian programming.

8. My first band was called Snyper (I know, it's really cheesey). Bonus - Our first "big" gig was at the Lebanon Area Fair and they misspelled our name in the paper as "Snyder".

I tag - Erik, Hedy, Nick, Max, Bob The Builder, Maura, Tacoboy, and Tall Tom
If you've never been tagged - you need to list 8 things your friends may not know about you and then tag eight other people, no tag backs!

This is NOT a blog entry, this is a SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION

<div>I just wanted to share my first movie trailer, so I thought I'd do it blog style...

I'm in the process of finishing my first feature-length independent movie and have posted the trailer for it on my website. The movie is called Disturbing Images. If you'd like to see the trailer, go to http://www.cinema-alliance.com and look in the current projects section and you'll see the link for it.

Thanks for reading my shameless self promotion.

We now return to your regularly scheduled web surfing...

An experiment...

<div>As you know, I've been on this honesty kick lately...

So, I'm conducting a little experiment. The main reason for this experiment is my own evolution and to work on becoming a better man. Jeannine and I are talking about having kids and I want to be the best man I can possibly be for myself and for my family.

The other reason for this experiment is from a socially experimental standpoint where I just want to see if people will react and how.

So here it is:

What I want is the OPPOSITE of a testimonial. The testimonials here on Tribe mostly point out good things, which I think is cool, there's nothing wrong with celebrating the good things about yourself.

However, I want to know the bad things about me as that will help me to recognize my weak points which will aid me in my quest to evolve.

What I would like people to do is list what they think are things that aren't so cool about me. Am I arrogant? Am I selfish? Is this whole experiment thing pretentious? Did I disappoint you somehow? Why / how?

This will not affect anyone by the way in terms of our friendship or how I feel about you. Some things I'll agree with, some things I won't.

If you're not comfortable putting this on my blog, then send me a message with your comment.

Don't be shy and don't worry about hurting my feelings, you won't.

Thanks for your time and participation if you choose to post or send me a message.

honesty...

<div>Why is it so hard sometimes to be honest with people? It seems especially hard to be honest with people that are close to you because you don't want to hurt them.

But is it beneficial to anyone to only say what they want to hear instead of saying what you really think? I know in some cases that's the best course, but it seems to be almost a rule of thumb overall.

Do our own egos that play into this? Do we fear some sort of backlash or rejection from being honest?

I think more honesty would lead to much more clear communication instead of one person having to interpret another. I also think that we shouldn't worry so much about what other people think, especially the people that we don't even know.</div>

<div>(in no particular order)

My wife (Jeannine works her ass off, you have no idea. Full time job, bellydancing - performing and teaching, amazing.)

My mom (also works her ass off, full time job and is back in school working towards her bachelor's degree. My stepdad had a stroke and doesn't work, so she's the bread-winner and also takes care of most of the stuff around the house.)

Steven Spielberg

George Lucas

Robert Rodriquez (writes, directs, shoots, edits, he does it all)

Lance Armstrong

Willie Nelson (helluva guy, he even has his own line of fuel - Bio-Willie - it's a bio-diesal product, no shit)

Quentin Tarantino

Kevin Smith

Trey Parker and Matt Stone (you HAVE to see Team America, these guys are self-made too)

There's more, I just am blogged out now...

Everyone's so damn busy...

<div>It seems like everyone I know (or at least most people in my circle of family and friends) is EXTREMELY busy. I mean more than usual.

Of course everyone's busy with the usual job, family, home stuff. But in addition to that, it seems like people have a lot of extra stuff going on.

Why is that? Is everyone super amibitious? Is it some cosmic thing?

Personally, I want to get to a point where I can run my own movie production company and be financially independant. I'd rather not have to kill myself in order to work a job that I'm not happy with to pay the bills and still have to find time for the things that are truly important to me.

I'd rather not have to leave my financial future in someone else's hands. I would rather just do the things I love to do for a living and have more time for my family, my home and my friends.

I'd like to be able to have more time for my loved ones and to better myself, exercise more, meditate more, read more books, explore more.

I know what I want, now I just have to get it.

<div>This is a strange phenomenon but I thought I'd just put down a thought regarding blogs.

I think blogs are interesting but I'm not compelled to post anything. I guess it's somewhat cathartic to just post random thoughts, but otherwise, I'm not sure why I should post in my blog.

For me, I guess I just don't think anyone would give a damn about my random thoughts, so why bother?</div>
