A Prayerforming Playshop and Presentation
w/ Augustus Keala Young

What is the nature of tension? Is it ever a good thing?

We will answer those questions and set the Field to explore the implications and energetic dynamics of Buckminster Fuller's Tensegrity in the context of our human bodies through contact yoga, sacred geometry, and the natural challenges and opportunities of working with others. Through exercises of building trust and coordination we will glimpse and co-create with the intelligence of living systems from a fractal holographic perspective.

We will also open these questions at this pivotal moment in time that we are sharing:

Where do we want to go from here?

What's next for the season, for the ReGen Project?

What is your vision and how might we support each other on the Journey?

Thanks for coming out to play!

Permaculture for Transition Workshop
with Permaculture Teacher Tom Ward
Saturday, June 13th, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
at Peace House, 543 S. Mountain Ave., Ashland.
To register, contact Melanie Mindlin, 482-7909, sassetta@mind.net

Transition Town Ashland presents a workshop on Permaculture for Transition, Saturday June 13th, with renowned Permaculture teacher Tom Ward. The workshop will explore how the principles of Permaculture can provide guidance to make a local transition to a way of life in balance with nature, through knowledge of whole systems design. Tom will focus on strategies for making the community transition to a locally resilient, low-energy, low-carbon future. The workshop includes Ecological Constraints and Opportunities of the upper Bear Creek Basin, Permaculture Roots of the international Transition Town Movement, and a pro-active Community Dialog.

Transition Town Ashland is the local affiliate of the international movement of Transition Towns, catalyzing creative energy to form a positive vision of a resilient local community that addresses the combined issues of Climate Change, Peak Oil, and global economic instability. The workshop will be held at Peace House and runs from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Pre-registration tuition is $25 ($15 for students) and includes a vegetarian lunch. Registration at the door is $30. Information and registration: sassetta@mind.net, 541-482-7909.

Tom Ward, an expert ethnobotanist, eco-forester, and Permaculture designer with extensive multi-cultural experience in the U.S. and overseas, is the author of Greenward Ho! Herbal Home Remedies: An Ecological Approach to Sustainable Health. He has taught Permaculture Design courses for over twenty years and specializes in the Southern Oregon and Northern California region. For the June 13th Permaculture for Transition workshop, Tom will present two informational sessions. The first is Local Ecological Constraints &amp; Opportunities, focusing on the local limits of soil, water, agricultural space and air-shed of the upper Bear Creek Drainage. “Although we have more population now than the potential food production carrying capacity, much food and medicine can be grown in yards, neighborhood community gardens, and extensive valley-bottom tree crops,” explains Tom.

The second session of the one-day workshop focuses on the Transition Town movement’s roots in Permaculture design. Permaculture is “the purposeful design of human inhabitation patterns that mimic the resilience and complexity of natural eco-systems,” says Tom. “Based in the perspective that all issues of sustainability are ultimately biological, the workshop will explore Permaculture principles and patterns for design methodologies. We have the opportunity to do a realistic ‘assessment of place’ that will generate a whole-systems plan for indefinite inhabitation.” The two instructive sessions will be followed by lunch and a community dialog, including a sharing of resources and ideas for moving forward in the transition to a more sustainable future.

Tom Ward holds degrees in Forestry and Botany, and developed curricula for Permaculture at Laney College and D-Q University in California. He teaches the 72-hour Permaculture Design Course and the Teachers Training Course several times each year at locations throughout the region and beyond. Since 1971, Tom has helped over 200 farms and homesteads with ecological design. Tom is presently advising local farms and developing a social forestry project in the Little Applegate Valley, where he is demonstrating natural building, fuel hazard materials utilization, multiple products woods-crafting, wildlife enhancement and desert forest water management.

Transition Town Ashland was formed in 2008 and offers an introductory session on the Transition Town movement the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at Peace House in Ashland. TTA holds an Action Planning Meeting every third Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Gresham Room of the Ashland Library for the public to join and network with TTA Working Groups.

Cornflower is a vocal-instrumentalist who lives for the moment. His music is a mix of many styles and genres, yet it is unique and is too elusive to label. Most importantly, his music has a purpose... like a time capsule from the future, here to help bridge the gap between our world and what is to come.

Cornflower's music emerges intuitively through an 'accapella scat' that is very familiar and tribalistic. He uses 'vocal-percussion' aka Beat-boxing that is not meant for spectacle but to serve as a foundation to his soaring melodies and atmospheric sound effects that bring a depth and richness to the sound wanting to be birthed. Last, but not least, he uses a Loop station that allows him to layer these many vocal-instrumentations into a symphony that if your eyes were closed, you wouldn't believe it was being created solely using his mouth.
Cornflower has collaborated and appeared with many artists, musicians &amp; luminaries including: Bobby McFerrin, Victor Wooten, Kenny Loggins, Jeff Pevar, Chris Deckker, Wisdom, Dubconscious, Freebo, Scott Huckabay, Bohemian Soul, The Rogue Suspects, James Twyman, Elemental Harmonics, Phillip Daniel, Amy Steinberg, +Elijah- &amp; the Band of Light, K.J. and Quetzatl.

Cornflower has studied with ten-time Grammy Winner, Bobby McFerrin and was a guest leader at the annual 12-hour Circlesinging event called “Singing for your Life 2005” with members of SoVoSo.

Cornflower creates memorable musical grooves and inspirational mantras that lift you up while getting down!</div>

The ReGeneration Project is pleased to introduce the next evolutionary stage of our program offerings, taking the principles and patterns of regenerative conscious culture we have been cultivating over the past 2 years of weekly dialogues, heart circles and intergenerational events, and putting them into pragmatic and inspired action.

The Regenerative Action Learning Series is an ongoing series of hands-on educational events, trainings and projects, developing practical skills and relationships inspired by the patterns of regeneration and resiliency found in living systems. Emphasizing what the Transition Town movement calls reskilling, and what the emergent generation calls newskooling, we will nurture the embodiment of patterns and practices that adhere to regenerative design principles, encompassing and expanding the practices of permaculture.

These experiential educational offerings will enhance local self-sufficiency, support the development of essential skills for thriving in changing times, and naturally foster the emergence of regenerative cultural patterns. The programs will create dynamic spaces for the practical experiences and empowering mentoring needed to cultivate a value-based economy and healthy local community.

An initial core layer of our offerings this season will be an educational garden on Oak Street at the home of Jeff Golden. Educational modules spanning the full arc of the growing season will be offered by Scott "Hawkeye" McGuire, allowing for an experiential foundation of the core patterns of a full growing cycle to be experienced by the participants. We will also be expanding on these core patterns through action learning at other locations including program offerings at the Village Farm , at Hawkeye's "White Sage Gardens ," at the Wilderness Charter School, with Neighborhood Harvest , and with other friends and allies in the local community.

Along the way we will be seizing the personal and collective growth opportunities presented through our works together, re-integrating ourselves with the natural cycles of life, and weaving our lives together as a regenerative community of practice. Through these practical applications we will be deepening our commitment to our personal evolution while cultivating new paradigm patterns from leaderships skills and cocreative group dynamics to Awakening as embodied Consciousness in an intelligent and living universe. We'll be growing whole conscious humans and community as we learn to grow food, feeding ourselves and each other, body and soul.

We are ready to begin the first module of the season at Jeff Golden's garden and so with this email we are both announcing the new program, and also requesting that those of you who are interested in participating help us to bring this program forth. The first question we have for you is a simple question of "When is good for you?" We will be having teaching modules spread throughout the season, as well as the daily and weekly tasks needed to maintain the garden. The teaching modules will most likely occur on Sunday's, late morning through mid-day, with similar modules at other times and locations throughout the week. We want you to be able to participate, so we'd like to know when your schedule would allow you to join us in the garden.

This link: http://whenisgood.net/ReGenAction will take you to a chart of a generalized full week, allowing you to select whichever blocks of time work best for you. This will allow us to get a composite view of people's availabilities and we'll try and schedule the programs accordingly. Please disregard the specific dates on this chart, and focus on what blocks of time will generally work well for you.

Please join us next Sunday, May 3rd, for the first action learning module at the Oak Street Garden, exploring soil preparation and making garden beds.

Sunday May 3rd from 10:00am - 2:00pm

Navigating Transitions
Sharing Our Wisdom &amp; Empowering Each Other

w/ Dominic Allamano

It seems like most everything is changing right now. The season is obviously in transition with the most convincingly Spring days we've yet seen occurring this week. Whereas just a few days ago it was snowing, today its 85 degrees. Sometimes these transitions, like moving into Spring, are joyful and met with ease. At other times these deep transitions - like that occurring economically right now - can stretch us, body and soul, to near our breaking point. These kind of rapid shifts from one reality into another can challenge our capacity to stay rooted in our core, yet be resilient and fluid with "what is."

Over the course of the coming weeks and months the probability of events occurring on the global and national stage which will necessitate all of us moving and grooving with these transformations forces is almost inevitable. The system as we have long known it is in process of dis-integrating, with a new healthier system, reconfiguring from simple and ecologically sound wisdom, seeking to emerge from amidst the chaos.

As these energies wind down an era and catalyze the emergence of a new one, we will all be feeling similar energies and patterns in our personal lives and community in ways which will stretch us, challenge us and call forth a brand new upgraded, super resilient version of ourselves. We're being called to let go of our old patterns, integrate the wisdom they offer us, and bring forth a self that is ready to rise to the call of this era and shine.

This week we're going to draw forth from each other the wisdom to resource ourselves in this transition. We're all experiencing it right now it seems, so we'll look at the challenges and opportunities, how we're responding to them, and what new wisdom we can bring forth from our collective intelligence to assist us in navigating this transition beautifully.

Share an evening of positive perspectives about what's going on in the higher dimensions with visionary artist Grace Mantle.

A continuation of the March 5 group. Do you have some questions about multi-dimensional experiences? Either your own or those shared already in the first talk? Grace will do her best to answer them from her perspective.

Do you have some wisdom you've been given that you would like to share? Have the trees given you a teaching, or the wind brought you a message? Share your story in a supportive environment so that we can all learn together.

Grace is eager to provide a safe and fun environment for us to grow and play together in our awareness of all dimensions of life. It is important for us to have positive support for our whole Being-ness, and bringing out our stories in a group will hopefully give us all more faith and more comfort in trusting our own experiences. Let's play!

Seasonal Alignment
Grounding Our New Growth Into The Seasonal and Systemic Present Moment

with Dominic Allamano

Spring is upon us, with the familiar signs of the cyclical renewal of life in evidence in their many wondrous and beautiful ways. Yet, though familiar natural elements are all around reflecting their enduring truths, this is not a Spring like any we've ever known before. The civilized world as we knew it last year and the years before, is fundamentally and irrevocably changed, and the change looks to be accelerating rapidly, thrusting us into the unknown.

A key element of the ReGeneration Dialogues has always been an exploration of the emerging culture - with ourselves as part of the emerging generation with it - with a primary emphasis upon developing a nuanced and functional appreciation of the cultural context into which we find ourselves emerging. Obviously today the economic dimension of our local, nation and global culture has become a key contextual layer of our shared experience, with implications rapidly cascading into every facet of our lives.

Two weeks ago, we explored consciousness in creative group dynamics. Last week we joined in action planning with the Ashland Transition Town, and this coming weekend, we'll be offering Permaculture For Renters, the first element of our new ReGenerative Action Learning Series. Through these events we're continuing to nurture our creative capacity together while developing and refining our skills, so that we can start to bring forth regenerative actions together in our community.

In order to develop a finely tuned aim for our actions, and our lives more generally, this week we'll check back in with the situation and unfolding dynamics and patterns in the economic, political, social and related realms of our shared experience. We'll link these events and patterns back into the cyclical and seasonal dynamics of life, finding ourselves together in awareness of the vastness and complexity of this present moment, and orienting ourselves in simple and wise ways to help us realize the possibilities and potentials within us, and before us.

Transition Town Ashland
Action Planning Meeting

This week we go on a field trip to weave our energy and community into one of Ashland's key emerging networks of creative and empowered local response to the national and global challenges we all face in this era of transition. Building on last week's event, which focused on the continued development of greater group creative capacity, we'll be taking that community capacity to a meeting of Ashland Transition Town where action groups are forming to move from community dialogue and vision development into creative and pragmatic action. Please come to the Peace House and bring your energy, gifts and readiness for action to this vital community network. As we weave our energy into this network and others, we'll continue to carve our the specific creative spaces that we want to inhabit and offer back to the community. With the ReGeneration Action Learning Series about to begin, and the cultural imperative for inspired and pragmatic action growing ever louder, we will continue to create opportunities for you to show up and get invovled in meaningful ways which empower your personal spiritual development while serving the local community and Earth.

Transition Town Ashland -- Action Planning Meeting

You are invited to attend the next Action Planning Meeting, hosted by Transition Town Ashland.
Our Action Planning meetings are held on the Third Thursday of each month.
This month, it will be held on Thursday, March 19, at 7 p.m., at Peace House,
at 543 S. Mountain, just above SOU in Ashland.

Last month's Action Planning meeting went well. Several Task Groups were formed:
Food, Community, Environment, Transportation, and Youth &amp; Education.

On the 19th, we'll hear from members of those Groups, to find out what they've been doing.

People who come to the meeting will have the opportunity to join existing Task Groups.
Also, if there is new energy to form a uniquely new Task Group, you will have an opportunity to do so at this meeting.

One of the tasks for Groups is to find out who else in the Valley is working on their issue. It is one of the purposes of Transition Towns to research different areas, contact people, learn about what is being done already and try to engage others in networking and contributing to the collective wisdom of the community.

There are a number of ways to find information about people working on your issue: asking friends, Web searches, etc.

One resource is the Sustainability Inventory created by Melanie Mindlin for the Ashland Planning Commission.
You can view it on the Files Page of TTABroadcast, the Google Group that serves Transition Town Ashland:
http://groups.google.com/group/ttabroadcast/files
Here's the direct Link to the file: Sustainability Inventory.html
It's also available on the City of Ashland Website, at
http://www.ashland.or.us/files/2009-01-27_PC_Packet_Web.pdf
(Requires Acrobat Reader.) The Inventory starts on Page 80 of the report.

You and your Group may have other good ideas on researching existing projects.
If so, you can share them with the rest of us at the meeting on the 19th.

Also on the Files Page of TTABroadcast -- http://groups.google.com/group/ttabroadcast/files --
you'll find a file with ideas about forming and running Task Groups.
It's called TTA Group Guidelines, and you'll find it in Word and PDF formats.
Here are the direct Links to the files: TTA Group Guidelines.doc / TTA Group Guidelines.pdf

Transition Town Ashland also hosts Intro Meetings -- to introduce people to the principles of the Transition Towns movement -- on the First Thursday of every month, at 7 p.m. at Peace House.

You can contact us at ttacontact@gmail.com.

Please Forward this email to friends and associates who are interested in local sustainability.
Thank you.</div>

The ReGeneration Dialogues

Are You Ready For Action?

with Dominic Allamano

From it's inception, a primary intention of the ReGeneration Dialogues, and
the broader ReGeneration Project, has been to midwife the emergence in
the local community of a dynamic and creative peer group of inspired
young adults, capable of putting their awakening consciousness into
action in ecologically and socially responsive ways. After over
one-and-a-half years of weekly dialogues, 10 cycles of 8-week Heart
Circles, and our participation in a wide array of community dialogues,
The Regeneration Project is now preparing to launch our next
evolutionary layer which will provide opportunities to put our
consciousness and skills into action. The Action Learning Series
debuts at the end of this month with the 2 day “Permaculture For
Renters” workshop. Projects, trainings, workparties and other action
learning events will soon follow.

In response to the ecological, economic and social volatility being
felt globally, there is a wide array of conversations occurring
at all levels, exploring and developing inspired
responses to the incredibly complex situation in which we find
ourselves. A local version of a global response has come forth with
the formulation of the “Ashland Transition Town” group over the course
of the past many months. They too are now ready for action groups to
form, and so next week we will be weaving our community together with
theirs for their monthly action group meetings at the Ashland Library.

So, since it seems that ready or not, the dynamics of the times in
which we live say it is time for action, this week’s ReGeneration
Dialogue will be an experiential exploration of the dynamics and
challenges of creating together in groups. It’s one thing to talk
about consciousness, and a whole other thing to maintain the high
principles and ideas when weaving ourselves together as small groups
capable of really creating together in the midst of potentially
challenging circumstances. Come ready to learn through group creative
action and from the reflections and wisdom we generate from how we
choose to organize ourselves, communicate, lead, learn and do the work
that must be done.

Have you had other-dimensional experiences? Or talked with light beings? Seen any gnomes or fairies? We are going to briefly explore our own experiences with the deep and multi-dimensional world around us, and then go into some basic education and tools for transformation. Grace will share with you some inspiring messages from the great beyond about what's happening on earth right now that will lift your heart, give you hope, and hopefully give you a more enlightened understanding. Together we will explore ways to access our inner connection with Source and become aware of our Spirit guides. We will learn some tools to speed up our own healing process, and that of the world. Service prayers are powerful, and together we will offer one up for our planet. This introductory class may open up your own doors of perception, inspiring you to become comfortable and companionable with the awesome multidimensional field around us. Let's explore and have some fun!

Wondering how you can participate in land-based solutions to social and environmental crisis, without owning property? Confused about where to start?

For all of those folks who have thought or said "I want to practice Permaculture, but I don't have any land," Permaculture for Renters will provide a packed toolbox of strategies and methods that can be used anywhere: on balconies, while traveling, in tiny sideyards, indoors, on rooftops, and more!

Over the two day workshop, participants will come together with diverse members of their community to engage their heads, hearts, and hands in learning a wide-range of useful concepts and techniques that they can integrate into their lives no matter who they are or where they live.

This is a great opportunity for anyone searching for a way to be more effective in creating a more ecologically and social just world. Students, couchsurfers, renters, travelers, and even landlords will come away from the weekend feeling inspired and empowered.

Some of the topics covered in the course include:

    * The Ethics and Principles of Permaculture, and how non-Land-Holders can Live By Them

Resonance Field Awareness

with Zac Fairbanks

In an age where many people are shifting their relationships out of a paradigm of isolation and fierce competition, and into one more focused upon cooperation and group resonance, how can we grow individually and collectively? As we explore group endeavors, intentional communities, shared life styles, and group resonant fields, we tend to find that our desire for cooperation and our actions toward it are not always, or sometimes ever, reconciled.

What are we actually doing then? What is co-operation? What is
resonance and harmony? Are they valuable in and of themselves?

What values and ideas do we place on these concepts? How does one find their own sense of personal responsibility and relational clarity amidst this whirlwind of experiential insights and intellectual concepts?

How can one integrate the seemingly paradoxical relationship between the individual and communal aspects of Life? "We are all in this together, by ourselves,"
as Lilly Tomlin puts it.

Come and participate in exercises designed to deepen your
understanding of how to more fully embody your self-mastery, how this effects your awareness in resonant fields, and how these practices forge you as an invaluable member of your community.

Zach Fairbanks is a 27-year-old transplant from Bethel Alaska.
Growing up with a large family in isolated western Alaska - where
people's need for each other to survive can be quite apparent at times -
has given Zach a unique perspective on community living. After
receiving a BSc in Biology from Oregon State University he began an
intensive exploration of self-mastery, initiated by beginning a
masters degree program with Gaia University. During a nine month
Permaculture and Eco-village internship with Lost Valley Education
Center he gained a deeper understanding of communal living. Zach is a
trained Heart circle facilitator and has learned a significant amount
about resonant fields using this modality.
Currently Zach lives in Ashland Oregon where he enjoys practicing
Aikido, Zen meditation, building community and Wilderness
Awareness/Ecology studies.</div>

The ReGeneration Dialogues

Your Life as The Heroes Journey

Shedding the stories that stalk us by authoring our own epic tale of becoming

Who am I? What do I want? Do I belong? Do I have value? Am I loved? Why am I here? How do we live in harmony together? What does living in right relation to myself and all my relations really mean? These are some of the most fundamental questions we face as human beings, and yet how often have any of us been sincerely asked any of these questions and been afforded the lovingly held, non-judgmental space to deeply and authentically explore and discover those truths only revealed to us from within.

Without this solid ground of an internally referenced identity we are seduced by fear and desperation or by promises of joy, fulfillment and enlightenment, and source our purpose and sense of possibility from without. The answer to "who am I?" becomes nothing more than the stories we've written consciously, and very often unconsciously, in order to describe and explain what we've experienced.

We become increasingly dependent on other's validating and accepting the many roles and characters we play in these stories in order to give our lives meaning. Scripted by limiting and often sabotaging beliefs born of trauma, these stories subtly and insidiously call for a re-enactment of the same themes and patterns again and again and again, as we doom ourselves to the suffering written into the drama.

Enough!!! Let's consciously create our lives and the world we most prefer to live in, empowered by the awareness of choice that is kept fecund and vital by our ability to consciously author our own story of meaning, purpose and becoming. Let's move from Victim to Hero.

During this evening of the ReGen Dialogues we will explore:

    * An ancient perspective of who we are kept alive for centuries in the high Andes of Peru, untouched by the patriarchal influences of the European Conquest.

    * The Nature of the Story and how we construct our reality

    * How do our stories stalk us? Imprinting and Resonant Wounding

    * Why we cling to our stories

    * Why it serves us and the planet to let the stories go

    * The archetypal characters within all of our stories and stepping off of the Triangle of Dis-empowerment

    * The Shadow, Projection and tools to dis-identify from the story

    * Authoring our own Epic and Mythic tale.

    * Practices from the Hero's Journey to ensure that you remain the author of your story

    * Suggestions for solo ceremony at home to support your Hero's Journey

Facilitator's Bio:

Toby Quinn

Toby's spiral journey has been that of the archetypal Wounded Healer. His soul contracts have led him through many challenges and years of solitude, through which he has learned much of the art of transmutation, transformation and how to harvest the blessings from the persistent and often harsh teachers that stalked him for 25 years through the stories of addiction and mental illness. Finding solace, awe and wonder in nature and his connection to our Earth Mother early in life, Toby weathered his difficult childhood and adolescence and discovered his innate talent and passion for drumming.

He holds a BA in Psychology, is a Reiki practitioner, has survived the good intentions, yet often misguided practices of western Psychotherapy and has been sober for almost 15years.

Following his inner rhythm and guidance, Toby was lead to move from Philadelphia, where he had lived for many years apprenticing in the way of the Sweat Lodge, working for social and racial justice, drumming his heart into the many bands he played with and delving into Deep Ecological perspectives and practice with Joanna Macy. His journey led him to the awe inspiring landscapes of Alaska where he found a home at the White Raven Healing Center and continued his deep explorations of his inner landscapes with a Tlinglit Native and his wife as his beloved mentors, friends and guides.

For five years in Alaska he supported himself as a professional drummer, playing in many bands, most notably the popular Photons, as well as through his ongoing shamanic trainings and practice, facilitating healing workshops at the White Raven Center and working as a counselor and family advocate for 7th and 8th grade Native Alaskan students and their families.

Now in Ashland for 2 ½ years, Toby continues to step into and share his powerful gifts as a counselor, guide, mediator, drummer and Shamanic practitioner while continuing to refine his empathic, intuitive and claircognizant awarenesses.

Toby continues his life-long learning along the shamanic path through recent initiations into the Peruvian lineage of Shaman referred to as the Laika or Earthkeepers. Toby is honored to humbly offer his services as Shaman and Energy Medicine practitioner to the community through individual client sessions, ceremony and teaching to those who feel the call. Toby is also passionately involved with local sustainability and social resiliency efforts as a Heart Circle Facilitator and member of the co-operative Village Farm. Toby's passion for integrity, truth and moving closer to source is evident to all who have shared time with him in Sacred Space.</div>

Dominic has an uncommon ability to hold laser focus while staying in the space of total acceptance. He is connected and caring with his entire being. ~~ Had

I was especially impressed with the ease at which you facilitated our circle, dancing magically between the masculine and feminine aspects of facilitation, knowing when to hold back and allow the group space, and when to confront and encourage us to look closer at the heart of the matter. ~~ Liz

My Experience with my Heart Circle was deeply nourishing and uplifting. I left each meeting feeling inspired, exhilarated, and re-born. Dominic's facilitation brought great presence and authenticity to our circle. He is a master at allowing others to simple "be". ~~ Celia

Dominic brings his heart and also his expansive knowledge of building communities and sustainable living to guide each heart circle. Joining the ReGeneration Heart Circle was one of the best decisions I could have made! ~~ Hannah

The Purpose of Heart Circles:

Looking at what you are feeling and wanting opens your heart and provides you with guidance towards feeling happier and manifesting what you want in life.

Doing this with others creates open hearted resonant relationships that become the foundation for strong families, friendships, communities, and businesses.

These resonant, loving relationships then expand, support and amplify your capacity to look at what you are feeling and wanting so that you become more heart directed and even more able to manifest what you want in life.

Heart Circles are a place to deliberately explore this with people you care for and trust.

Language of the ReGeneration
w/ A. Keala Young

A playshop exploring the evolutionary capacity of language in the Now Age

Language is code, code can be a rule of conduct, a veiled communication or a method for programming . . . what's the difference? is it the same thing?

With a brief drop on the state of the Art, Keala will lead us through some of the mythstory of language interspersed with integrateful small group and journal sessions playing with the currency and capacity of our linguistic programs and patterning in the context of our emergent generation. Play done in smaller groups will be re:woven into an offering to the co:here:in:it whole with a focus on functional applications.

A few things we will explore:

    * the power of attention
    * tuning into how we're being heard as much as what we're saying
    * the context of linguistic evolution and memes
    * telepathic aspects of communication- how do we understand each other?
    * applications for evolving the language beyond duality with "no mind left behind"
    * increasing our capacity to open to our evolutionary intelligence as a group
    * identifying functional applications for ReGenerative Language, Now!

Please bring a journal and something to write with, a smile and your naturally opening mind!

Ashland talks sustainability
Mayor, councilors join about 200 locals in brainstorming

By Vickie Aldous
Ashland Daily Tidings
January 30, 2009

About 200 local residents came together Thursday night to brainstorm ways for Ashland to become more sustainable and to find out what efforts are already underway.

The Sustainable Community Leaders Dialogue at the Elks building downtown gave the public a chance to share ideas with each other and Mayor John Stromberg, several City Councilors and a number of city staff and members of city commissions. Stromberg took office this month after campaigning on a platform of sustainability.

Local author Jeff Golden said one of the simplest definitions of sustainability he's heard is to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

"What most people need is workable, real-world examples of other ways of doing things," he said.

Dominic Allamano, who helped organize the night's event, told audience members that they would not have to sit quietly and listen to experts, but would instead flesh out ideas with each other.

"You're what we need right now," he said before turning people loose to gather at tables in small groups.

<div>WHO: Ashland Citizens and Ashland Candidates

WHAT: Ashland Dialogue with Candidates

WHERE: Ashland Elks Lodge, 255 E. Main St., Ashland

WHEN: Wednesday, October 15, 6:30-9:30 (doors open 6:15), Dialogue
with Mayoral Candidates
Thursday, October 16, 6:30-9:30 (doors open 6:15), Dialogue with City
Council Candidates

NOTE: Capacity 150. $5 suggested donation.

____________ _________ _____

Just prior to marking your ballots in late October, please join us for
a unique opportunity for citizen empowerment!

For three hours on two evenings -- the first night with Mayoral
candidates and the second night with City Council candidates --
citizens from Ashland will have chance to engage in a world cafe
dialogue about the issues they care most about. No one has set the
agenda in advance The questions people have and the topics people want
to talk will emerge from the process (the conveners are simply
responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, neutral space for
authentic, civil conversation) . Candidates join citizens as neighbors
in conversation at the cafe tables for the first half of the evening.
During the second half, candidates form a small council, ground rules
of listening and respectful inquiry are established, and people get a
chance to listen to candidates talk about the issues they've heard.

These two dialogues with candidates emerge from a series of open,
informal gatherings called the Sustainable Community Leaders Dialogue
held on a monthly basis since May at the Ashland Public Library. This
dialogue series has been intended to weave together various sectors of
the community such that participants can begin to envision "whole
system"/transpartis an solutions to the sustainability challenges
facing our community. The dialogue has been organized around a 12
sector wheel. In the wheel every area of social need and activity is
encompassed — energy, food, water, security, communications, arts,
culture, spirituality, etc. By arranging the sectors according to a
wheel allows for a "hub" in the middle to serve as a connecting point
between sectors. Sustainable solutions are found when ideas and
projects begin linking-up across sectors.

In the spirit of learning, inquiry, reconciliation and integration,
our informal host committee looks forward to welcoming you to this
important set of community dialogues.

Sincerely,

Your dialogue hosts:

Time to BAIL OUT OF Wall Street - bring your money home!

<div>http://solari.com/blog/?p=1648

WHAT ACTIONS CAN WE TAKE TO BAIL OUT OF WALL STREET?

The time has come to purge these people from our lives. How do we do it? Since our readers had such great ideas on the bumper stickers brainstorm (yes, we are making some!), we thought we would invite ideas on what to do now that Congress has given Wall Street another trillion dollars and a get out of jail free card.

By Catherine Austin Fitts and Carolyn Betts, Esq.

Here are ten ideas that we wrote up to get us started. Sound off with actions you think we can take!

(1) Vote with your feet and our money in your personal banking affairs. Take all the money you control out of big money-center, tapeworm banks and financial institutions and put it in local credit unions, thrift institutions, savings banks and state chartered banks.

(2) Take control over your retirement savings. Listen to our audio seminar, Positioning Your Assets for Growth in Uncertain Times and use what you learn to protect your assets. Look for more ways to use your investments to increase self-sufficiency for you, your family and your community. Look into the requirements for self-directed IRAs, which will allow you to invest in such things as precious metals, commodities, real estate, local small businesses and offshore investments that are not publicly traded or otherwise on the usual lists available to small investors. If you are limited in your investment options because your retirement funds are in your employer’s 401K, research the list of permitted investments and purge your portfolio as much as possible of tapeworm companies. While you’re at it, talk to the investment folks at your company and urge them to adopt anti-tapeworm investment strategies.

(3) Support state legislative efforts to amend state securities and tax laws to facilitate investing in loans and equity in community businesses by middle-class investors. Remember that safeguards to protect investors from unscrupulous snake-oil, penny stock and chinchilla salesmen are good, but in the name of protecting “unsophisticated” investors without substantial holdings ($200K annual income and $1MM net worth excluding residence), federal and state securities laws have effectively forced the “little guys” to invest in the tapeworm. Why is it easy for people of moderate means to lose money in the lottery, but almost impossible to invest in each other’s businesses? (The answer is Wall Street does not want us to be able to invest in each other – they want us to go through them.)

(4) Use your influence to urge institutions and governments you deal with to vote with their feet and the money they control. Urge others to do the same. Make a list of these institutions and governmental and quasi-governmental units and write letters, go to meetings and otherwise get involved in the processes by which they make decisions about where they deposit and invest their cash. Here’s a list to get your creativity flowing:

a. Everyone who asks you to contribute money: charities, college and private school endowments and churches
b. State, local and union pension funds
c. City and county governments and government-related entities (e.g., water company, school board, county general fund, bond reserves)

For more ideas on pools of capital in your community, see http://solari.com/blog/?p=1214.

Another thing to keep in mind is that big pools of money like huge charities or charitable pools (e.g., United Way, Red Cross, etc.) and college endowments (e.g., Harvard, with its $30 billion endowment) are usually controlled by members of the tapeworm. This money generally is deposited and invested in the tapeworm. Boards of directors of these institutions are loaded with the good ole boys who may be put in their places to bolster the prestige of their employers and garner social acceptance for institutions whose activities you and I might not approve of (e.g., consider the motives of Archer Daniels Midland in sponsoring public television shows). Reconsider your options so that you invest in causes where you know your contributions are not used this way.

(4) Spend money locally and reduce dependence on big box stores. Make a list of family expenditures over the last year and categorize them in terms of whether they are local or “tapeworm” oriented and whether they are discretionary or non-discretionary. Look at the discretionary category and the money you spent at “tapeworm” restaurants, big box stores, chain stores and similar outfits. Then identify a local alternative for each one, keeping in mind that some big names are franchises owned by local small businesspeople who need our support. If you don’t know, go to your local stores and ask who owns them. Also remember that while local grocery stores may be preferable to chains, even at chains you may have the option to choose locally-grown and organic foodstuffs, which both support local and regional farmers and contribute to your family’s health and well-being.

When you make out your Christmas list or school shopping list, see how many items you can identify that can be purchased through non-tapeworm sources. Of course, while you’re at it, remember that you’ll get a “two-fer” in heaven, or more bang for your buck, if your spending decisions favor goods that are produced (a) in this country or at least a country that supports fair labor standards, (b) using green technologies or packaged in recyclable materials, (c) by companies whose employment policies, community contributions, garbage, trash and toxic waste disposition policies, business dealings, production methods and other policies are “net energy plus” and have a positive return on investment to the community.

(4) Prepare for more power outages, cash shortfalls and other emergency situations. More central controls leads to more unstable systems. We need to protect ourselves from the risk of relying on unstable systems. Since inflation in the costs of real goods are here to stay, at least for the foreseeable future, and who knows what kind of shortages we may be subject to for whatever reason (market manipulations, weather-related catastrophes, break-downs in neglected infrastructure, etc.), investment in the following makes both economic and strategic sense:

(a) household systems that contribute to lower energy costs and better health (geothermal, solar and wind systems, water storage tanks and wells, electronic air and water cleaners and filters),

(b) staples like toilet paper, non-perishable ingredients and foodstuffs,

(c) canned goods and bottled water,

(c) propane generators and other back-up systems,

(d) community or personal vegetable and herb gardens or local CSAs

(e) locally-slaughtered and packed sides of beef, port and lamb (preferably combine with back-up generating capacity, although homeowners’ policy riders for food spoilage are available for as little as $10/year).

(5) Find or Establish a Local Barter Network. Maybe you can’t get the credit you need to operate your small business, or take out an equity line of credit to make improvements to your home. But remember, you aren’t in this alone. Your neighbors are in the same position. Maybe your local home improvement contractor or lumber yard owner or small business supplier would like to find a way to afford piano lessons or math tutoring for his child, a professionally drafted contract or will or a new website that you could provide. Take a stand in proving that Wall Street cannot bring down our local economy and local businesses if we do not channel our money through Wall Street and the Fed and if we support each other. Used in conjunction with the local currency (see below), this is a powerful way to (a) reduce your exposure to losses from the falling dollar and the forces of inflation, (b) get new customers for your small business, (c) earn extra value in addition to your stagnating salary to help make ends meet and (d) support the local economy so that your customers and neighbors can pay their mortgages and other bills.

(6) Consider a Local Currency. Local currencies aren’t subject to devaluation when the Fed makes bad monetary decisions or Treasury invests taxpayer dollars in useless derivatives, and you don’t have to worry about FDIC insurance coverage. One way to start is to use precious metals within trusted networks. To help you get started, see our silver and gold exchange calculator, www.silverandgoldaremoney.com.

(7) Start a local version of Kiva or Solari Circle for group education, action and investing in local small businesses. Get together with friends and family to decide on what the actions are that can best serve you and take them together. Turn off your TVs, simplify, start a food purchasing club, study options for sustainability and help each other with money management and savings. Many established and stable local businesses are having trouble maintaining their working capital lines of credit to keep their operations going. At the same time, there are many local people who want to take their money out of the control of Wall Street, but don’t know where to put it. Look for local leaders who are knowledgeable at angel, venture and local investment. Perhaps there is a way for you to participate with them.

(8) Let your congressperson know you won’t take this any more. Find out how your congressman/senators voted on the bail-out legislation. If they voted “no,” thank them and send a campaign contribution. For those who voted ”yes,” check out the opponent and let them know why you are doing that (see 10 Reasons Not to Bail Out Wall Street).

(9) Educate yourself and your children about what you really need to know in the future. Urge local public and private schools, community colleges, technical schools and sources of adult education (e.g., community centers, churches and retirement homes and centers) to adopt curricula to teach both children and adults about:

(a) Community self sufficiency and community organizing.
(b) Economics and how the money REALLY works,
(c) What the US Constitution stands for and civic values,
(d) How to fix things: cars, washing machines, plumbing systems, etc. and
(e) The history of our currency (the Federal Reserve, fiat currency, abandoning the gold standard, etc.), NAFTA, the Great Depression and American stock market crashes, financial scandals and crises and what were the causes and solutions.

(10) Start a local solar energy panel franchise, geothermal drilling company or other green business. Retire from your tapeworm job or take the opportunity after a job loss or cut-back to get off the tapeworm job grid. Do business with people you know you can trust. Contribute to a positive return on investment in your community.

Community Dialogues at Peace Village Festival

<div>Hello Everyone,

I will be hosting a series of six community dialogs at the Peace Village Festival this weekend, with three dialogs held Saturday and Sunday from noon until 6pm in the Casbah Tent. Tej Steiner, Crystal Arnold, Robin Noll and Jeff Golden will be hosting specific sessions during the weekend as well.

The sessions will each be uniquely designed utilizing elements of Heart Circle, World Cafe, Open Space and other dialog formats which empower collective intelligence and wisdom to emerge.

The design emphasis and intention of the dialogue series is to build the social soils - the capacity of our community to create and sustain healthy culture together - by encouraging the creation of diverse and generative relationships amongst participants while exploring questions meaningful and relevant to our lives. From these soils will emerge our harvest of community insight and wisdom.

I invite your presence and participation in any or all of these dialogues. They will be an collective expression of those who are present. I would be delighted if you were one of them!

Imagine........ a village birthed from our shared visions, deepest longings, and ancestral memories of what could be, holding a resonance of peace that informs, inspires, and activates all who enter. This village is being conceived and built on the cornerstones of peace, sustainability, community, and re-localization. For one weekend in mid-August, Jackson Wellsprings will be transformed into a Peace Village.

There will be neighborhoods in Peace Village, where groups and individuals with affinity for each other will congregate. Peace House is stewarding the Peace Circle neighborhood, inviting all their sister Peace and Social Justice groups in the area to come, have a booth, network, discuss, outreach, and sew some metaphorical stitches in our regional quilt of peace. Other neighborhoods include Kid Village, our Healing Sanctuary, Sustainable Way, an amazing Artisan’s Market, and our Om Dome of Visionary Art. Each will have stewards and an identity. Sustainability organizations will congregate at Sustainable Way. And with the motto of Peace through Health, the Healing Sanctuary will be a place to come and experience various modalities of the healing arts.

The invitation is to all people of good will, to all organizations here for the common good, to come together to co-create Peace Village, to bring your piece, to bring your passion. Share in the vision and join in the co-creation of a living model of peaceful, sustainable living in these changing times.

Do you know the story of stone soup? Well, we like to think of Peace Village Festival as Stone Soup for the Soul. It’s like this. We have a big pot, we have some water, and we have some stones. We’ve got a fire going under the pot. The water’s starting to boil, and we are putting in the stones. This is going to be some good soup! And it will be better still with more ingredients. We invite you to come and bring your carrots, potatoes, greens, peas, or celery... maybe you have some scallions, garlic, cayenne, or salt. Someone will bring parsley, rosemary, and certainly sage. That way we will have a very delicious and nourishing soup. A whole is made up of its parts. A village is made of its people, groups, and organizations, seasoned with a diversity of ages, backgrounds, genders, races, ethnicities, spiritual paths, lifestyles, and ideas. Each of us carries some unique part of this. Each of us has something to share. Come join in this endeavor, in this metaphorical soup. Bring your peace! For through us, Peace Prevails, and ripples forth in all directions.
