Composure

I'm just loving yesterday's and today's "365 Tao" pages and feel inclined to share. I guess for yesterdays, buy the book. ;)
Enjoy,
A
_____

"Composure"

Although they may have to kill
Or suffer themselves to be killed,
A person of composure remains dispassionate.
Nothing is ever destroyed,
Nothing is ever created.
All is infinity.
__

For most people, killing is abhorrence. If they had to kill, they would be horrified and their emotions would be uncontrollable. Likewise, if they were being threatened with death, they would be afraid and would struggle to keep alive.

Both these situations involve extreme attachment to what we know and how we wish to remain. Both situations indicate a fundamentally limited view of the world. We assume that we are truly destroying someone. But though his body may be slain, the soul cannot be slain. Every soul is but a part of an infinite, cosmic soul.

You could subtract numerous souls from the world, and the number of souls would not be diminished. Numerous souls could be born, and the number of souls would not be augmented. Nothing is truly destroyed, and nothing is truly born. Only appearances change.

Therefore, people of composure view the transformations of the world calmly. They do not become alarmed with the different permutations of phenomena. They know that these are all merely outer manifestations of an indefinable, unlimited, and infinite reality.

Spring is here and so is Mother Eagle's new site. :)

Dear friends and allies,

What a wonderful day, this. Spring is here. My favorite time of year. I could think of no better day or time (4:44 AM PST - the official time of our breach into Spring) to share with you a gift I've been working on for a while. It is modest, but I enjoy it.

From my heart, I present to you www.mothereagle.com

Please take a look around and, if you are so inclined, please sign up on the e-mail list on the new site (in the left column). If you don't, this will probably be the last message you receive from Mother Eagle, as I cannot import my list there. Remember that I will be sending out coupons...oh, like this one...

Enter the code "SPRING444" when you are checking out and you will receive 15% off your entire purchase. It is valid until May 1st. My gift to you. :)

About the new site:

I decided to start out simply with a small product line, focusing on my specialty products; the kits. I will continually add products over the next several months and it may be a bit of a surprise to you what the final product line looks like. Perhaps me, too. I am very happy with the new kit configurations and I feel like they will be successful. Regardless of how the kits or the site are received, I feel content knowing that I have followed my dream and passion this far, and that I am not giving up any time soon. Speaking of which...

(by no means is this next section mandatory reading. ;) :

I'd like to take this opportunity to share with you a little of my philosophy around that dreaded and aesthetically insensitive word and concept, "preparedness." What a drag it is, right? Who, but a stick in the mud, would involve their thoughts with such a dreary fantasy? I wish I knew a better word to sum up what it is I'm up to. Perhaps you can help me find one. I see what I'm doing more as a celebration; of life, of polarity, of the dance of creation and destruction. Do you feel the beat? Do you feel the rhythm? In every moment gravity is pulling your blood down to your feet. What a drag. But your feet don't swell and your head doesn't shrink, because your heart enjoys living and feeling and seeing through your eyes. So without question it beats and it pumps and it doesn't ever stop pushing and countering the force of gravity. And we take this for granted. For good reason. It is what nature does. At every moment the atmosphere pushes in on us, 14.7 pounds per square inch, but we do not collapse to the center because we generate an equal amount of resistance. In fact, without that 14.7 psi pushing in on us, we would explode and wouldn't even have the opportunity to exist in these bodies. But we don't think about generating energy or pumping our heart. We do it effortlessly. When a tiny seed sprouts under several inches of earth, it pushes and pushes and resists seemingly insurmountable force, alone in the dark, collecting the smallest amounts of moisture and reaching with all its might till it breaches the surface and feels its first rays of sun warming its two little leaves. It would never grow into a mighty tree, or your next meal if it weren't for the darkness it endured and resisted under the soil. Even through the seasons, nature prepares. Bears get fat for their hibernation. Squirrels stock up. Whales eat for their offspring. And I prepare not because I'm afraid of dying or suffering, but because I love living (and secretly love dying) and love playing this silly game of black and white, all the while knowing we are truly a rainbow. There are many levels on which we can experience life. The realization of ultimate oneness does not preclude us from the scorching sun or the aching belly or the quaking earth. We are Earth beings and Earth is dark half the day. Tomorrow I may suffer for not sleeping tonight (or last night). But for now I am pushing, because I love life and growing into whatever form I seem to be.

Much love to you all,

Even though

there ain't much going on on Tribe these days, it's still really cool to see some of your little orange lights on and to know that, even though Facebook has mostly taken over your social networking lives, you still have a place in your heart for Tribe. Tribe really is getting better. There's still the occasional downtime... I really think that if they just added status updates it would be more attractive again to all you who are using Facebook. Am I wrong? Would you really miss all the little apps? Does tagging people in photos and making albums really matter? What else would it take to get some of you to come back here as your primary social networking site? I really think that is what Tribe should be focusing on - getting people back from Facebook.

Anyway. Just good to see some old Tribe crew on here. I love you, always.
