Happiness is...
I love doing yoga, and I really recommend it to everyone because not only does it help increase your flexibility, but it allows to you slow down and have 'me' time. At least that is how I see it. The first time I did yoga I felt so light and... happy is the only word to describe the feeling. And I've come to a gradual epiphany over the last year of doing yoga. I have had moments of great sadness and moments of contentment, but when asked if I've been happy I have never been able to answer in the affirmative until recently, and I've discovered why.Happiness must come from within.
No matter how many boyfriends I've had, or new shoes, or cool friends, I've always felt restless and not-quite altogether, until now, because I've realized that no matter what happens in your life, to be truly happy, you have to find it within yourself. Look within and fall in love with yourself. Deal with your demons and accept yourself and you will find happiness waiting on the other side. There will always be things I want to improve about myself, like being better about money, or shedding those 10 stubborn pounds, but as I work to attain those goals for myself I still have to appreciate and love the person that I am in the moment. And that is happiness.
DISASTER!
I met Gordan of Heidrun Meadery in Arcata yesterday, and after talking with him for an hour and a half and seeing how his operation works for sparkling mead, I decided that I needed to stop talking and make some more mead before I drank all of what I have left of my first batch.I went to farmer's market in Arcata for the first time and bought a gallon of local wildflower honey for $36, the other honey booth was $46!!! I decided I wanted to make a spiced mead like the one described in Prophecy, the second book in the Rhapsody series by Elizabeth Haydon, with hibiscus, orange, cinnamon and cloves.
So I have my honey and I put it in the passenger seat and drive the 15 minutes back home. I pull in the driveway, shut the car off, and reach over to get my big tub'o'honey to discover that... The lid had come off and my passenger seat and floor were covered in honey! *CRYSOB*
I've scraped it up as best as I can, I'm going to have to scrub my upolstery and try to strain out all the crap that's in the honey now, and I'm short about a 1/3 of a gallon... and I didn't want to brew today... it's really funny, but it's really upsetting at the same time. :/
First day of Fall 05
Back to school after a crazy, work-filled summer. It's good to be back, I have a lot of the same people in my classes, which is a first now! I've been looking forward to having the same classes with people, but as the same time I'm getting to the point where school is... well it's a lot of time and I want to be working and making money for toys! And I miss my friends in the bay area.Dan came to visit me for exactly 18 hours, 6 of which were spent in class. It was so nice to have him home finally, and I know he liked sleeping in an actual bed instead of the couch at his parent's, but he's got to do what he's got to do. It's going to be weird going to school without him though.
I am going to miss the second week of school so I can go work the check station at Camp Roberts, where Dan and I met. It will also be our 3 year anniversary and we are going to spend it at the Pleasanton games. I was going to make a clan beer for judging, but with work I haven't had time to brew at all and it makes me sad. And our local brewstore just closed last month, so I will have to make a special stop at More Beer to pick up some supplies. I want to make 6 original beers for a kind of beer "resume' in hopes I can get a job at a brewery up here. I also need to have some beer on hand for parties coming up this fall, and for competitions if I'm going to start entering.
Wow, I've written a lot.... until tomorrow or whenever then!
My first Blog!
I've been wanting to do this for a while, and now I can! I am not on the computer everyday though, so I won't be posting that regularly. And I'm not quite sure what a blog is either, is it an online diary? I can do that.I went to the fabric store to try to find inspiration for some more 'natural' pieces of garb, and to find some stuff to use for my pirate outfit. I'm still debating on what colors, but I know green will be predominant, just don't know how much brown I'll be able to get in there. I want to start sewing this week, I have a few projects to get done and a few to start before I make it to Faire for the last three weekends. And I'm looking for something to do for favours... I haven't ever given out favours and I'm not sure I can get something that will just say "ME" in a symbol.
