big huge fucking thanks to Resynthesize who helped me wipe that crappy vista shit off of my laptop and getting XP pro working on it.

Apparently HP doesn't even have drivers for XP on their website for this one so we had to find some user community where they had figured out a solution... it involved a couple of tricky steps but nothing we couldn't handle on a few beers each.
