My CD is completed! (blog entry) Very excited to announce that I finished my originals ~ soon to be coming "Perhaps I'm A Raincloud" ~ It was a JOY to write, sing and play with such talented musicians on this new venture of mine!

about me
I began dance at age 16 with the Cobblestone Arts Center of Farmington under the direction of Lorene Flora-Benson. Years of ballet and focusing on my forte ~ Martha Graham Modern style ~ I also explored other techniques with Pamela Trowcanski of the Black Crow Flying Dance Theatre back in the 80's ~ with the focus on Afro-Caribean Dance.
I recently was honored to meet "Babarah" at a Sahara Shimmer event. She is a master belly dancer and also performed with my brother "Mustafa" back in the 70's that included Omar Faruk Tekbilek. She recently just gave me the name "Shadiyah" which I am honored to accept!
Just finished recording my CD of original music with my love Steve Lowden and best friend Walt O'Brien ~ two amazing musicians! Soon to be coming "Perhaps I'm A Raincloud"!

Enchanting News

Looking for a space to teach my own "style"

Rochester has NO WHERE to go for tribal, and I would love to introduce this style, along with modern dance to the community!

Tribal here I come!
I was honored just recently by getting offered to be a guest teacher at my original dance studio of long ago. I would like to thank my mentor, Lori Flora Benson of the Cobblestone Arts Center, for the opportunity to introduce this lovely dance to the studio ~ I am planning on incorporating my forte, Martha Graham Modern with Tribal belly dance to create a new and exciting dance genre ~
