Entrenched interests use despair, confusion and apathy to prevent change. They encourage modes of thinking which lead us to believe that problems are insolvable, that nothing we do can matter, that the issue is too complex to present even the opportunity for change. It is a long-standing political art to sow the seeds of mistrust between those you would rule over: as Machiavelli said, tyrants do not care if they are hated, so long as those under... read more

After a lot of years of devastating setbacks in the fight for marriage equality, it seems like we're finally moving in the right direction. With same-sex marriage legal in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont and Maine, and the fights going strong in New Hampshire, New York and California, this movement is gaining more momentum every day, and I'm excited to be a part of it. To that end, I wanted to let you know that CREDO Action is giving away some awesome stickers ab... read more

This morning I read an Earth Day article that was intelligent, succinct, and inspiring. Here’s the link: www.worldchanging.com/archive...74.html. It gave a vision of how our planet could be. It reminded me of who I am and what I came here to life for and on behalf of. My soul has always whispered that I am here to make a difference on this beautiful planet. In my heart, I’ve always wanted my life to mean something. I’ve learned that when I contribute something positive ... read more

This is a program from KQED public radio called Forum. They say there is an epidemic of children being sexually exploited and held in captivity, in Oakland. Please listen and pass this along. It's not just happening in Oakland. It's a global problem. It's going to take a real public outcry to stop this. It's part of the global criminal network and is generating $20 to 30 BILLION a year for the global mafia.... read more
Here is Terry Gross of NPR interviewing David Cay Johnston, Pulitzer-prize-winning investigative journalist, on his new book, Free Lunch. It's about all the ways our government makes it possible THROUGH OUR TAXES, among other ways, of syphoning off our prosperity to only the wealthiest few. Check it out. It only takes about 30 minutes to hear the whole interview. Here's the link:

about me
I'm single--divorced. I never had kids because I didn't particularly want to. I think this beautiful planet is entirely overpopulated. I really appreciate humor and can certainly laugh but I'm not great at generating it. My friends say I'm fun and playful, so that's cool. I am fascinated by people! I love browsing you guys' profiles and photos, and reading what you've written!
I work as an Admin Asst. to three groups of applied mathematicians who supply algorithms for astrophysics, fluid mechanics, and all kinds of other research, and some high performance computer wizards at a national laboratory. I love to dabble in lots of stuff. I'm a certified Master Gardener who's never had a garden! LOL! I was certified as a Kalos health practitioner. I've taken sailing lessons on the Bay and was on an all-girl racing team for one season--albeit as a "grinder." I took 18 wks of French cooking lessons and 9 wks of Indian vegetarian cooking lessons. I'm now learning beading. I'm an intermediate dancer--learned all the ballroom dances, Latin dances, Argentine tango, and both West and East Coast swing. I was in toastmasters for awhile and gave speeches to the County Board of Supes, the Red Cross at the hospital in Stockton, an Episcopalian Men's Group, the Calaveras Co. Chamber of Commerce, etc. in a major fundraising effort in which we raised $500K to qualify for a state grant to build a new library bldg. That's my biggest accomplishment. I did it as a volunteer. I've rappeled off a mountain, showed my horse at the Idaho State Fair, had a major enlightenment experience, danced East Coast swing on TV once. My pirate name: Mad Anne Bonney Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. You can be a little bit unpredictable, but a pirate's life is far from full of certainties, so that fits in pretty well. Arr!
