There might also be some merit in the DVD drive heating issue. I'll check. Thanks!

Well I've been having fun making ringtones out of my non-DRM music and thought I'd share with any of you who have iPhones (I'm sure they could easily be converted to work with other phones as well). Just some tunes I thought worked w... read more

All of this sitting around waiting for the end of the world of fossil fuels hasn't been sitting right with me. And while I've wanted to ride my bike to work for a long time, the truth was that I didn't want to show up to work all sweaty and in need of a full change of clothes and a shower. What an American. Whatever. So for my 47th B-Day I got my bike (that has gotten about 50 miles on it in the past three years) converted to a front wheel electric hub motor ... read more

The documentary Who Killed the Electric Car comes to a number of conclusions. On the encouraging side, the EV1 proved an electric car could be reliable fun to drive, and very well liked (one might say loved) by its owners. The car was clean, performed admirably, and a tune-up consisted of rotating the tires and topping up the windshield fluid compartment.. On the disturbing side, the documentary points ... read more

Re: Mac Mini shutting itself down

I think I will go with this method. My mini is an Intel and the sleep function is always turned off on my computers %^).

Mac Mini shutting itself down
(in Mac OS X)
Long time no post, but glad that you are all still here. I have a Mac Mini that has been shutting itself down occasionally (usually on hot days, but sometimes not) and almost always lately when trying to use Handbrake to rip a DVD.
I am using ... read more discussion post on Sun, October 4, 2009 - 11:24 AM

Shawn is one cool guy. He's a bank of information on many different subjects- a guru, if you will.
He's very opinionated, but also willing to listen to your take. He's been through a lot, and learned even more from it. I take his advice very seriously, as he is very intelligent and experienced. He's a great friend, travel companion, and dancefloor spinner. November 24, 2004
What can I say about this guy other than he is a major freeker and one of the coolest people in the world. This is why I love him so much :-)
