Sick :-(

I have had the yuckiest weekend ever. Friday night I was a little sniffly....no big deal - just a spring cold, right? Wrong! Saturday I felt horrible - I couldn't swallow...I couldn't stop sneezing. I was in hell. On top of it, I was on call and I kept getting paged. My damn internet was down - so I had to use my cell for everrrrything. I was NOT happy. I missed Unmata. :-( Last night I started getting these shooting pains down my side on through my stomach. I hadn't eaten anything terribly unusual...but I tried to ignore it. I was up all night with pains - and this morning it was worse. I went to the walk-in clinic at 11;30 - stayed until TWO THIRTY before seeing someone....only to be told it was "a gas pocket" and I should be fine in a few days. WHAT?! Unreal. The pains have subsided slightly...but now the sniffly nose is back. OY VEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! I just want to go to sleep, wake up and be fine.

Dropping the Dance Name....

I've decided Nastasia doesn't work for me. Half the time I forget it. The other half the time I have to correct people on pronouncing it, or spell it 5 times. *sigh* I need a dance name that starts with an S so I can sigh my emails *S like I normally do. I need it to not sound stripperish (the guys at work started jokingly calling me nasty Nastasia. AHHHHH). I also need it to fit me. So for now, it's back to *Samantha....or *S...or Sam (if I like you). Haha.

...my dad just called from the vets. She had to be put to sleep. I can't stop bawling (which is making typing this very hard!). She was so sweet. But, she had a thyroid problem, and heart problems -- the vet insisted she would not last more than a few weeks and she would be in pain. So, I'd rather see her go, then stay and be in pain just for my sake. I thought, somehow, at 25 this would be easier...it's not. I love her more than I love most people! So, RIP my sweet little girl. Love you.

Well, Shimmies for a Cure is over. In one way I'm sad to see it over, it was a nice distraction during work! ;-) But, the event was AMAZING! I was so impressed by both the sheer talent (and the GPA!) in the room...so many SMART women in this field...I love it!!! We had a great turnout -- 2 workshops were sold out, the other 2 were filled but manageable, which was perfect. The set was amazing -- the energy in the room was so positive, it left me on cloud 9! Our workshops teachers were such sweeties....all of them showed up early, kept asking to help etc. Love it!! Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and the food was a nice touch! I got to see some old friends, and made lots of new ones! Miss Luminara was the big winner of the evening! She won 2 raffles -- the Snake Dance package (Zehara GC and an autographed copy of Snake Hips) AND the Balance (scimitar from Moondance and private with Lilya). The funny thing was -- I didn't know her real name! So I'm like "Who is this Ela?! LOL. Erzulie was a big winner too....the Totally Tribal package + something else....Erzulie what was it?? Garabed was amazing....so put together - so nice! He saved a day a few times...! :-) I'm still beaming.....thank you all so much for your hard work!!!!!! XXOO

I've reached a new level with my dancing.... Today I shimmied to rap in front of my brothers friends -- and a work I showed the Director of Finance how to hip circle...! I'm crazy... Did I mention I work for a Fortune 500 company and this woman is supposedly a "heartless bitch"?? I think not! She came up and said she say my car (SHIMMY plate - Bellydancer bumper sticker) and wanted to see some moves since she's Greek. Haha!! Even if you're not into rap...check out the song "Need a Boss" by Shareefa and Ludacris....great shimmies!!!!

....Eye Kandy!!! My kit came today.... OMG I was in heaven! 48 glorious colors -- all so equally gorgeous! :-) I've pretty much been playing with them for the last 2 hours.... :-X I've assembled a bunch of little kits, labeled my bait box (a hand traveling case!) - put everything in numerical order - can we say ANAL? Haha. I'm hoping Sardis still has a spot for the 11th - Tripping the Hips - it sounds like a fun place to vend. I'm so excited!!! My nana, who's 77 was so cute - we told her about it (my mom and I) and she goes "My Samantha is a born sparkle" ;-)

NYC Recap

Soooooo exhautsed! NYC kicked my ass! I'm officially 25 now....woooooo! Had a great, great time visiting Julie. Saw a bellydance show in Brooklyn - it was terrible! Boston dancers are sooo much more professional. This woman did not make eye contact, hardly smiled and had a terrible costume. In addition she STOPPED during her set to wave and scream "CHICKIIIIIIIIIE!" to some woman who walked in. Oy vey! I was rolling my eyes to Julie. I clapped, zahgareeted and showed my support, but man was I mad. Not professional behavior for someone that the band said has been dancing for 15 yrs!!! I was so proud of myself - we walked 9.2 miles total, I only drank 2 martinis the whole time, and I stayed within my points range everyday. I was so good!! I'm expecting a loss at WW - which excites me. I have a deal with myself, if I lose 50 pounds by April I will buy myself a sexy little costume. Wooo! I'm excited for Rakkasah - and a special something Rach and I are planning in April (of which we will unveiling very soon!) I'm so sleepy...I realized even though I'm 25, I can't party like a rockstar (like I do in Vegas) and only sleep for 3 hours. This trip I stayed up all the time, but limited the alcohol - and still had a ball. I loved seeing Julie, it was so good!! I have a friend from work (Montreal!) coming up in 2 weeks- anyone know about fun BD events I could bring her too? She's a dancer too.
