It's a damned shame how far behind my beloved city of Philadelphia PA lags is so many areas. Attending a HBCU(historically black college) in Richmond 1971-75. THE MYTH sounds true to me, how about you?

www.girardweb.com/girard/chapter1.htm

A myth persists that the foundation of Girard's wealth involved two million dollars he supposedly swindled from Toussaint L'Ouverture during the 1789-1802 slave uprisings in Saint-Domingue. The originator of the myth,[34] perpetuated by people claiming Girard to be a racist, claims that Toussaint gave Girard the money to purchase arms and ammunition that Girard never delivered and this ... read more

Too-big-to-fail banks are profiting from bailout dollars and government guarantees, and growing bigger. Tell us which community bank you use, and why.

the contrast between the big banks and the community banks we were talking about was very much like the story in the classic Frank Capra film It's a Wonderful Life, where community banker George Bailey helps the people of Bedford Falls escape the grip of the rapacious and predatory banker Mr. Potter.

Reflecting on the relative ease with which fear promotes funding and the loss of civil rights. Economy going to collapse? Lets grab some billions and fix it. Strange man lighting a fire on a plane? Let's tighten up security. Homelessness, inquitable healthcare, rampant unemployment, education system in shambles, disgraceful justice system, planet about to melt... THESE are the REAL CRISES we should be very, very AFRAID of! Where are the billions for these solutions

Lasheild Myers is able to laugh a little now when she describes the first event in 1997 that changed her life.

"I came home one night from a 16-hour double shift working in a nursing home and the front of my house was on the ground," Myers described. "I was walking down the street and I got to where my house should be and only the door was standing, with the rest of it open like a dollhouse."
