PA HOME PERFORMANCE 101 - The House as a System

Pennsylvania’s new energy conservation and energy efficiency legislation will provide plenty of opportunities for home performance businesses and contractors. PA Home Performance 101 will provide a one-day introduction to home performance concepts and related programs / incentives for current and prospective Keystone HELP contractors and remodelers.

ATTENTION KEYSTONE HELP APPROVED CONTRACTORS: Unless you are BPI or RESNET certified this training is required for all Keystone HELP Approved Contractors who wish to attain the status of "Trained Contractor" and be able to perform work under the Keystone HELP Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Whole House Improvement Loan Program.

By attending this session, participants will:

Learn the “house as a system” approach to energy conservation and energy efficiency
Understand the market forces affecting homeowners (consumer demand, utility rate caps, energy cost volatility, national security, climate change policy, etc.
New Low Loan Rates and Rebates through Keystone HELP
State Incentives (DEP, PHFA, AEPS, Act 129, etc.)
PA Home Energy and HOME PERFORMANCE with ENERGY STARFederal incentives
How to integrate the “house as a system” approach into their business model

This is a new training called Home Performance 101 that will allow contractors to participate in the new Keystone HELP loan/rebate program. They will need to become an approved contractor through AFC First Financial as well as attend this one-day training and pass an open book test at the end. Once all that is completed they will be designated a “trained contractor” by the state and will be searchable in a database that Keystone HELP keeps for eligible contractors across the state. They cannot participate in the majority of the work under the State’s new loan program without this training. We want to get the word out to as many Philadelphia area contractors as possible and we are hoping you will send this to your lists. Attached is the invitation to the trainings, with information about how to register and find a training near you. There is also a contractor kit to aid them in starting the process of becoming “approved” with AFC First.
