Wow, I simple loop around the house and I am on the air. I’m only putting out a 100 watts, but it works great on 20, 40, 80, 160 meters. I can get the SWR down to 0 in must cases and 1.1 to 1 with little effort. Only 40 meters will shut of the UPS on the PC. Need to filter the AC line.

OH happy day!

Hincapie Takes Bonus… And The Yellow Jersey!
George Hincapie, who lost Saturday's prologue by .73 seconds
to Thor Hushovd, claimed the overall lead on Sunday.

Beneteau held onto a slender lead until the 3rd intermediate sprint. He claimed 1st place points in Kehl and was caught soon after thanks largely to an attack from Hincapie (DSC) who raced ahead to claim time bonuses. The American was beaten by Hushovd’s team-mate Hinault (C.A) for second place but claimed third and two seconds for his effort. It would be enough for him to inherit the yellow jersey… even though he only finished 23rd in the stage.

This is what a good prolog and a good sprint will do for you.

There were 171 out of a 176 people in the main peloton. They all finished with the same time of 4 hours and 10 minutes.

Top 3 were
1. Jimmy CASPER
2. Robbie MC EWEN
3. Erik ZABEL

I love the Tour de France. I watch it every year and drive my family nuts. Now on the edge of the tour a scandal has brought down 9 riders, 3 of the top names in the sport. Guilty or not they are out of the tour. I like these riders and I was hoping to see what Jan Ullrich would do this year now that lance Armstrong has retired. Ivan Basso and Francisco Mancebo have always been fun to watch in the tour. It will be sad not to have them racing this year.

There are still a large number of great racers in this years tour. Some great American and Australian riders come to mind. Like George Hincapie of Team Discovery, Bobby Julich and David Zabriskie of Team CSC, Levi Leipheimer of Team Gerolsteiner, and Floyd Landis of Phonak Hearing Systems all US riders and few Australian Riders of love to see ride are Robbie McEwen and Cadel Evans riding for Davitamon-Lotto and Stuart O'Grady of Team CSC.

To top of the list of European, American and Australian riders, a few other countries have riders in this years tour. Some of the more distant countries would be Robert Hunter from South Africa riding for Phonak Hearing Systems, Maxim Iglinsky from Kazakhstan riding for Team Milram, Ivan Parra from Columbia riding for Cofidis, Le Crédit par Téléphone, and José Rujano from Venezuela and team Quick-Step.

Good luck to all the riders. Please have an exciting, safe and scandal free race

Tour de France Preview 2
By Phil Liggett OLN

Ivan Basso, Jan Ullrich and Francisco Mancebo, the three outstanding favorites to win the Tour de France when it gets underway in Strasbourg today, were sent home yesterday after their names were linked to a drugs syndicate in Spain.

Guilty by implication rather than any solid proof, the three riders have all denied any association with the drugs bust five weeks ago which was known to Spanish police as Operacion Puerto. Their names appear on an official list sent to the Tour organizers late on Wednesday.

Spanish police investigating doctor Eufemiano Fuentes, who is accused of trafficking in all types of performance enhancing drugs including growth hormones and the blood booster EPO released the list which contained up to 58 names of riders who are accused of visiting his premises in Madrid.

More names are expected to be announced before the race begins this afternoon after team managers have sifted through a 500 page court report that was sent to France by the Spanish judiciary.

Tour de France organizers called a meeting yesterday morning with all 21 teams taking part and as a result earned a unanimous decision from the team managers that any name on the list would be withdrawn from the team without a replacement possible.

T-Mobile immediately withdrew Ullrich, the winner of the race in 1997 and who finished three times second to American Lance Armstrong during his run of seven wins, and the Spaniard Oscar Sevilla who has always denied going to see Fuentes, yet has been photographed near his premises.

Ullrich, 32 and the recent winner of the Tour of Switzerland, has continually denied being linked to Dr Fuente’s surgery and has offered his blood for a DNA test to prove that blood being held in Spain is not his. Even if events prove Ullrich’s innocence later this year, at his age his career is virtually over.

Basso, the odds-on favourite to win the race after finishing second last year and only last month, being an emphatic winner of the Tour of Italy by the biggest margin for 42 years, was out training when his Danish CSC team agreed he would not be allowed to start either.

His manager, Bjarne Riis said:” I know nothing about what has happened in Spain, but we have taken the decision to take Ivan out based on evidence we have. However, he is not necessarily guilty of anything at this stage.”

Francisco Mancebo, who won the best Tour newcomer award in 2000 and has since finished fourth (last year) and sixth, was also withdrawn by his French AG2r team, leaving them with no likely winner of the race overall when it ends in Paris on July 23.

It is thought that the list, which has taken more than five weeks to be released because of the complicated and coded many entries in Dr Fuentes books, include other sports’ stars. Those athletes involved are said to have used the names of their pet dogs to avoid being identified. American Tyler Hamilton, already serving a two-year suspension for blood doping, is also among those named.

Christian Prudhomme, the deputy Tour director, said:” We will fight doping all the way. Cycling is a wonderful sport, but doping is our enemey.” Rather than being depressed at yet another drugs controversy yesterday, the Tour organizers are elated at the progress they feel has been made towards a cleaner sport.

The Tour organizers were upset at losing their appeal to the Court of Arbitration to sport yesterday, allowing the Astana-Wurth team to ride. Known formerly as Liberty-Seguros, team manager Manolo Seiz is also accused of buying drugs from Fuentes. He has since distanced himself from the knew team although he owns more than half of the company that owns the team itself.

Prudhomme continued: “This team is not welcome as there are names on the list although these riders are not here for the Tour de France. We would like this team, not to start.”

Astana-Wurth’s star rider is Kazakhstan’s Alexandre Vinokourov and he is determined to ride the race having finished third in 2003 and fifth last year. He has already claimed that he believes Manolo Saiz when he says he is not involved in the biggest sporting scandal ever to hit Spain.

Originally 198 riders on 22 teams were entered for the 2300 miles race, but after Ignacio Labarto, the manager of the Communidad Valenciana team was also named as being under investigation, the Tour organizers immediately withdrew their invitation.

Now, with as many as 22 riders thought to be linked with Dr Fuentes’ list, the prologue this afternoon may see only 170 riders take the start in the Place de Bordeaux.

The opening seven kilometers time trial will be the hors d’oeuvre to the most open Tour for years in the absence of such star names and Americans, Floyd Landis and Levi Leipheimer and Spain’s Alejandro Valverde along with Australian Cadel Evans will find their favourite tag now more than deserved.

Britain’s David Millar, himself re-entering the sport today after serving a two-year suspension for using EPO in June 2003 when he won the World time trial title, could be the winner of this short time test.

Millar said yesterday: “I’m a little bit apprehensive and I feel ashamed, but I lied and cheated and now I want everyone to know that I am riding this race clean.”

Side effects of Field Day.

I have spent the last few weeks hot and heavy on the radio. Mostly on 20 meters. I have worked DX into the wee hours of the morning. I have spent a lot of time on a single frequency taking call after call, and even more time rag chewing with new friends. During the ARRL ham radio week, I continued to work the wonderful people of the airwaves, I worked a ton of kids on “Kids day”, I took my hand held to work on “Take your HT to work day” (not a big deal I talk it work on most days anyhow. I like to work the sever weather advisory net at my deck during lunch). The climax was field day. All of this radio is not without it’s risks. No I not talking about TVI or time away from the family. I mean other risks like…

The pile up: #1: If you are trying to contact the station calling CQ you can spend a lot of time waiting and listening. You can also say your call sign over and over again until you find that you are saying it in your sleep. How ever…

#2: If you are calling “CQ” you can find yourself faced with thousands of people trying to call you. At first it’s great. It’s easy to pick out strong stations to contact. If band conditions are good everyone can be a strong station. If band conditions are poor, the strong stations can dry up leaving you the task of pulling the weak stations out of the noise. This is easy when you only have a few of them. But when you have thousands of them all calling you at once… it can be mind numbing or MADding. After the first few hundred QSO’s you find yourself praying for a power failure. Hi hi (lol for the non-hams). This experience has a few side effects. One is sleep, if you can actually get to sleep after such an exhilarating day, you can still hear the calls in your head… some loud and strong, some weak and in the noise… oh yeah, the is an S9 and it’s all happening in your sleep all at the same time.

Repetitive quotation sickness: #1: The act of saying the same things over and over again. You find yourself saying “CQ” before the start of every conversation.

#2: you say things like “please copy my” when people take your order at a restaurant. “please copy my two eggs, Hash browns and a large coffee.” You know you’re in trouble when you ask the waitress “Can I get your report please?”

#3: To top it all off you say 73 instead of goodbye. That will turn heads.

73
Mike

PS I did get my kids on the air few times, not just kids day.

ARRL Kids Day is Saturday, June 17

Reminder: ARRL Kids Day is Saturday, June 17(Jun 15, 2006) -- The next opportunity to bring Amateur Radio into the lives of young people is Saturday, June 17, when ARRL's second Kids Day of 2006 takes place. "It's their special day, so make the most of it," says ARRL Education and Technology Program Coordinator Mark Spencer, WA8SME. Kids day begins at 1800 UTC and continues until 2400 UTC. There's no limit on operating time. Suggested exchanges are first name, age, location and favorite color. Call "CQ Kids Day" to elicit contacts. "More hams are getting involved in Kids Day, and it shows," Spencer says. "Why not join in the fun and invite some kids to experience the 'magic of radio' in your shack June 17?" Sumner Weisman, W1VIV, did just that in January, and several youngsters (photo) enjoyed operating from the Framingham (MA) Amateur Radio Association's W1FY. Spencer suggests that while the kids are experiencing the fun of ham radio, their licensed mentors encourage them to pursue their own ham radio tickets. Suggested frequencies are 14.270 to 14.300 MHz, 21.380 to 21.400 MHz and 28.350 to 28.400 MHz, plus local VHF repeaters with the sponsor's permission. Licensees should observe third-party traffic restrictions when making DX contacts. These apply when unlicensed individuals communicate via ham radio. More information on Kids Day is in June QST, p 53.

Kid's Day Rules
Educational Activities: Recruitment & Education • Kid's Day Survey

Purpose: Kid's Day is intended to encourage young people (licensed or not) to enjoy Amateur Radio. It can give young people hands-on on-the-air experience so they might develop an interest in pursuing a license in the future. It is intended to give hams a chance to share their station with their children.
Dates: January 8 and June 17 2006.
CQ KID'S DAY DE WA9LGQ
Fun was the apparent result of a successful recipe--a recipe that included lots of preplanning, food, and Ham Radio. At the Indianapolis the Red Cross Chapter house, the Red Cross radio disaster group sponsored its very first Kids Day event. [Full Story]

Time: 1800 to 2400Z. No limit on operating time.
Suggested exchange: Name, age, location and favorite color. You are encouraged to work the same station again if an operator has changed. Call "CQ Kid's Day."
Suggested Frequencies: 28350 to 28400 kHz, 21380 to 21400, 14270 to 14300 kHz and 2-meter repeater frequencies with permission from your area repeater sponsor. Observe third party traffic restrictions when making DX QSOs.
Reporting: Logs and comments may be posted on the Internet. Those without Internet access may forward comments to the Boring Amateur Radio Club (address below).

Awards: all participants are eligible to receive a colorful certificate (it becomes the child's personalized sales brochure on ham radio). You can download this certificate for free, customized with the kids' names, after filling out our Kid's Day Survey, or send a 9 X 12 SASE to: Boring Amateur Radio Club, PO Box 1357; Boring, OR 97009. More details may be obtained by joining the Kid's Day Reflector.

Mean Dad??

Someday when my children are old enough to understand the logic that
motivates a parent, I will tell them, as my Mean Dad told me: I loved you
enough . . . to ask where you were going, with

whom and what time you would be home.

I loved you enough to be silent and let you
discover that your new best friend was a creep.

I loved you enough to make you go pay for the
bubble gum you had taken and tell the clerk,
"I stole this yesterday and want to pay for it."

I loved you enough to stand over you for two
hours while you cleaned your room, a job that should have taken 15
minutes.

I loved you enough to let you see anger,
disappointment, and tears in my eyes. Children
must learn that their parents aren't perfect.

I loved you enough to let you assume the
responsibility for your actions even when the
penalties were so harsh they almost broke my heart.

But most of all, I loved you enough. .
to say NO
when I knew you would hate me for it.

Those were the most difficult battles of all.
I'm glad I won them, because in the end you won too.
And someday when your children are old enough
to understand the logic that motivates parents,
you will tell them.

Was your Dad mean? I know mine was. We had the
meanest Dad in the whole world! While other
kids ate candy for breakfast, we had to have
cereal, eggs, and toast. When others had a Pepsi and a
Twinkie for lunch, we had to eat sandwiches.
And you can guess we had a dinner that
was different from what other kids had, too.

Dad insisted on knowing where we were at all
times. You'd think we were convicts in a
prison. He had to know who our friends were, and what we
were doing with them. He insisted that if we said
we would be gone for an hour, we would be gone
for an hour or less.

We were ashamed to admit it, but he had the
nerve to break the Child Labor Laws by making us
work. We had to wash the dishes, make the beds, learn
to cook, vacuum the floor, do laundry, empty the
trash and all sorts of cruel jobs. I think he would
lie awake at night thinking of more things for us to do.

He always insisted on us telling the truth,
the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. By the
time we were teenagers, he could read our minds
and had eyes in the back of her head.
Then, life was really tough!

Dad wouldn't let our friends just honk the
horn when they drove up. They had to come up to the
door so he could meet them. While everyone else
could date when they were 12 or 13, we had to wait
until we were 16.

Because of our father we missed out on lots of
things other kids experienced. None of us have
ever been caught shoplifting, vandalizing other's
property or ever arrested for any crime.
It was all his fault.
Cute one. Don't let the subject fool you.

Now that we have left home, we are all
educated, honest adults. We are doing our best to be mean parents just
like dad was.

I think that is what's wrong with the world
today. It just doesn't have enough mean dads!

You just have to love technology. Granted this medium (the internet) is relatively new. It does allow people to communicate with other people from all over the world. But let's talk about radio. As I am sitting at the computer looking at all the activity on the web, I am listing to my Ham radio. It's on the 20 meter ham band. I have tune to 14.250 MHz roughly. When I start hearing a DX station calling CQ. DX = foreign station and CQ=calling any station.

The first station was I7ZPB LORENZO in ITALY
The second station was SP7AID ELEK in POLAND
The third station was IZ6GSP again in ITALY
Then I started talking to W0BNY David in MINNISODA

I talked to the first 3 gentlemen for anywhere from a minute to 5 minutes. They were all looking to make as many contacts as they could. How ever I talked to David for all most an hour. Nice man. It was a lot of fun talking to him.

After I said 73's to David I found a special event station DR2006F. This was a 10 second contact but it's special.
Then DX1DX ERWIN in GERMANY
Fun night, time for bed.

DR2006F
Special Event Station - Football World Cup 2006
Football Stadion Frankfurt GERMANY

http://www.amateurradio2006.de

DR2006F is one of the SPECIAL EVENT STATIONS during the FOOTBALL WORLD CUP 2006 held in GERMANY. This specific callsign is beeing aired by hams living around the STADIUM FRANKFURT in Hessen. All contacts with this station will be confirmed automatically via the DARC QSL bureau. Please do not send a QSL card via the bureau - it is not needed. SWLs may send via bureau or direct.
There is a total of 38 special event stations active from May 13 to July 16, 2006. 26 of them with the DQ2006 prefix, for the different districts of the DARC and 12 with the DR2006 prefix, each of them assigned to one of the SOCCER-STADIUMS used during FOOTBALL WOLRD CUP 2006.

A special award is available for working a number of special event stations and German stations.

Update to High Drama Night time soaps.

OK NCIS. This is a better show for the most part. But they too did something I didn’t like. They wrote off a Character.

Gibbs the main NCIS leader has left the show. This sucks. First Kate Now Gibbs.

Will he be back next year? Will DiNozzo be able to run the show? What will happen to Abby without Gibb’s.

See what I’m talking about. High Drama Night time Soaps.

-----------------------------------------
This is from Pauley Perrette Blog. It’s a fun read!
5/15/06 10:52 pm
HIATUS & US & ME & MY KEYS

A few months ago,
the cast had gathered at the set
for a round of interviews with the
foreign press.
This is where journalists from around the globe
set up in groups and do interviews
with people in film and television.
The cast members that weren't on the call sheet
that day came in anyways for press
as did our fearless leader,
one Donald P. Bellisario.

It's a wee bit stressful
with a million questions flying at you
but also quite fun and entertaining.
So, I'm walking in to start my press round
and I see Don.
Always excited when he comes to set,
I hugged him and chatted for a second,
and then he says,
"So, someone's leaving NCIS at the
end of the season.
Are You Scared?"
I'm like..................................................
..............................................................
"what?".
He says,
"Someone's leaving NCIS at the end
of the season,
Are you scared?
You think Sean's scared?
You think Lauren's scared?
You think Michael's scared?..."
and continued to list the whole cast.

OK, Don's this super genius
with a twinkle in his eye.
The twinkle was there
and he was having fun.
But, um, that makes me
NOT ABLE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT!

We had a table read for the two final episodes
with the cast, producers, director, DP and
Don, who also wrote the episodes
(a table read is when you sit around a, um...
"table", and, yes, "read" the script out loud).
I couldn't find my keys,
I found them
and then lost them again.
I couldn't find my belt or my purse
and my dogs had taken a particularly
long time on their walk that morning.
I was late.

I walked into the table read
and Don said, "Well, That's it!
The last person to the table read is the one
who leaves at the end of the season !!!".

I later found out he said the same thing to Mark,
who had arrived prior to me
and to each actor before me.
Twinkle, twinkle.

We read the script...
which of course,
was missing the last act.
Don gave us an intricate lesson on
the ships, the politics associated with the story,
the numbers of Filipino ship workers around
the world, stats on every operation and
title that had to do with the story,
previous relevant wars and history
because Don knows pretty much everything.

I learned alot,
I would've taken notes and retained more,
but couldn't function properly because
I Was The Last One At The Table Read.
There is no final act.
Somebody is leaving NCIS.
Somebody is leaving NCIS.
There is no final act.
I Was The Last One At The Table Read.

Last year, I had no idea what was going on.
I do think I'm always the last to know...
maybe it's because I'm always looking
for my keys,
but anyways, I cried and cried.

Now I'm freaking out a bit too,
(WHAT were the additional scenes they were
shot after we had wrapped principal photography !?!?!,
WHY couldn't we have a final script page !?!?!).
However, I have learned to trust.
Don loves this show, as do the rest
of our producers, cast and crew.
Everybody wants it to be great and fun
and exciting and last a long, long time.

We have thanked our lucky stars for
being a part of this show.

Oh yeah, the stars...

Twinkle Twinkle.

----------------------------------

NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is more than just an action drama. With liberal doses of humor, it focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations. Leading this troupe of colorful personalities is NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), a former Marine gunnery sergeant, whose skills as an investigator are unmatched. Gibbs is a man of few words who only needs a look to explain it all. Working under Gibbs is Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), an ex-homicide detective who may come off as the world's oldest frat boy, but whose instincts in the field are unparalleled. Joining them are forensic specialist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), a talented scientist whose dark wit matches her Goth style and eclectic tastes, NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), an MIT graduate whose brilliance with computers far overshadows his insecurities in the field, and the newest member of the team, Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), a former Moussad agent who shares a bond with Gibbs over the death of his arch nemesis, Ari, the terrorist who killed former NCIS Special Agent Kate Todd. Assisting the team is medical examiner Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard (David McCallum), who knows it all because he's seen it all, and he's not afraid to let you know. NCIS also has a new director, Jennifer Shepard (Lauren Holly), who has a romantic history with Gibbs. From murder and espionage to terrorism and stolen submarines, these special agents travel the globe to investigate all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties.

The only difference between a nighttime soap and a daytime soap is how many times per week / per year you get to see them. Otherwise most night time soaps are as obnoxious as the daytime ones.

Take for example “Grey Anatomy” the characters are interesting most of the time but they thrive on overly high drama. Drama of who is sleeping with who, pick me- no pick me for this emergency or that surgery and can you tell which patent will die this week..

Of course that last part is the easy part to figure out. Who is going to die this week, well everyone does. I wouldn’t want to be sent to that hospital for any reason. They would find a way to kill you off. This show loses more patents then each week then “Spinal Tap” had drummers or the “Grateful Dead” had keyboard players.

In the end; all of the doctors still don’t know who they are going home with and Denny kicked the bucket. The one guy you wanted to live and they kill him off. Yet I knew he would. If they had not lost so many people in every other episode we might have been shocked.

I sure hope they can say a few lives next year.

Tomorrow the season end of NCIS.

P.S. We need to have HTML links active in our blogs.

I hate chain letters and emails. Most of the time they are just a way of gathering email address for spammer. Sometime an email comes along that makes you think. It doesn’t matter is the story is true or not. The message is one you just want to give people a chance to see. I will not email this to many people myself. The ones I sent it too will have their email address listed in the BCC area. Everyone else can read it here.

Jack took a long look at his speedometer before slowing down: 73 in a 55 zone. Fourth time in as many months. How could a guy get caught so often?

When his car had slowed to 10 miles an hour, Jack pulled over, but only partially. Let the cop worry about the potential traffic hazard. Maybe some other car will tweak his backside with a mirror. The cop was stepping out of his car, the big pad in hand.

Bob? Bob from Church? Jack sunk farther into his trench coat. This was worse than the coming ticket. A cop catching a guy from his own church. A guy who happened to be a little eager to get home after a long day at the office. A guy he was about to play golf with tomorrow.

Jumping out of the car, he approached a man he saw every Sunday, a man he'd never seen in uniform.

"Hi, Bob. Fancy meeting you like this."

"Hello, Jack." No smile.

"Guess you caught me red-handed in a rush to see my wife and kids."

"Yeah, I guess." Bob seemed uncertain. Good.
"I've seen some long days at the office lately. I'm afraid I bent the rules a bit -just this once."

Jack toed at a pebble on the pavement. "Diane said something about roast beef and potatoes tonight. Know what I mean?" "I know what you mean. I also know that you have a reputation in our precinct ." Ouch. This was not going in the right direction. Time to change tactics.

"What'd you clock me at?"

"Seventy. Would you sit back in your car please?"

"Now wait a minute here, Bob. I checked as soon as I saw you. I was barely nudging 65." The lie seemed to come easier with every ticket.

"Please, Jack, in the car"

Flustered, Jack hunched himself through the still-open door. Slamming it shut, he stared at the dashboard. He was in no rush to open the window.

The minutes ticked by. Bob scribbled away on the pad.

Why hadn't he asked for a driver's license?

Whatever the reason, it would be a month of Sundays before Jack ever sat near this cop again. A tap on the door jerked his head to the left. There was Bob, a folded paper in hand Jack rolled down the window a mere two inches, just enough room for Bob to pass him the slip.

"Thanks." Jack could not quite keep the sneer out of his voice.

Bob returned to his police car without a word. Jack watched his retreat in the mirror. Jack unfolded the sheet of paper. How much was this one going to cost?

Wait a minute. What was this? Some kind of joke?

Certainly not a ticket. Jack began to read:

"Dear Jack, Once upon a time I had a daughter. She was six when killed by a car. You guessed it- a speeding driver. A fine and three months in jail, and the man was free. Free to hug his daughters, all three of them. I only had one, and I'm going to have to wait until Heaven before I can ever hug her again.

A thousand times I've tried to forgive that man. A thousand times I thought I had. Maybe I did, but I need to do it again. Even now. Pray for me. And be careful, Jack, my son is all I have left."

"Bob"

Jack turned around in time to see Bob's car pull away and head down the road. Jack watched until it disappeared. A full 15 minutes later, he too, pulled away and drove slowly home, praying for forgiveness and hugging a surprised wife and kids when he arrived.

Life is precious. Handle with care. This is an important message; please pass it along to your friends. Drive safely and carefully. Remember, cars are not the only things recalled by their maker.

Funny how you can send a thousand jokes through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the sanctity of life, people think twice about sharing.

Funny how when you go to forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it to them.

Pass this on, you may save a life. Maybe not, but we'll never know if we don't try.

May today there be peace within you. May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be. "I believe that friends are quiet angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly."
Please add comments. What do you think about this?

A Colorado Springs police officer was shot and killed Wednesday after he radioed dispatch that he’d spotted a fugitive near Memorial Park.
Officer Jared Jensen, 30, was pronounced dead at 12:10 p.m. at Memorial Hospital. Jensen died of a single gunshot wound to the head, according to the El Paso County coroner's office. Jensen, who was married, had been with the force for 3½ years.]

I would like to offer condolences and prayers to the wife, parents, family and friends of Officer Jared Jensen.

This is a sad event. It is a great example of the risk the police take everyday to do their job. It is also a reminder of how short life is. Everyday is a gift and everyday could be our last.

On my ride home today, I found myself listening to NPR. (National Public Radio). I heard a story about the closings of blogs in China. These blogs where written by Chinese citizens. The contents of these blogs were critical of the Communist Chinese government. Many of these bloggers were sentenced to jail for 10 years based upon the content they published to the internet.

This type of behavior is nothing new in China. The bloggers are lucky they were not just shot on site. The issue here is not the despicable actions of the corrupt and evil communist leadership. The issue is who helped them.

The collaborators are American companies. The internet giant Google created a special version of their software for the Chinese Government called “Google CN” a.k.a. Google China. This search engine is design to filter out content that the Communist Government deems a corrupting influence on the repressed people of China. Microsoft has elegantly shutdown blogs at the request of the Communist Government. Yahoo has elegantly turned over the names of bloggers (they call dissidents) to the Communist Government. This information was then used to track down the bloggers and place them in jail.

I hear people complain about the “Patriot Act”. I think they need to think about what censorship really is. The nice thing about the “Patriot Act” is that it has an expiration date and must be approved again if it is to remain in effect.

In this country we have a freedom and liberty that lets us criticizes our government and worship as we choose.

Just food for thought.

For other uses, see Blog (disambiguation).
A blog is a website in which items are posted on a regular basis and displayed in reverse chronological order. The term blog is a shortened form of weblog or web log. Authoring a blog, maintaining a blog or adding an article to an existing blog is called "blogging". Individual articles on a blog are called "blog posts," "posts" or "entries". A person who posts these entries is called a "blogger". A blog comprises text, hypertext, images, and links (to other web pages and to video, audio and other files). Blogs use a conversational style of documentation. Often blogs focus on a particular "area of interest", such as Washington, D.C.'s political goings-on. Some blogs discuss personal experiences.

I decided that I wanted to change my profile. The old one was getting a bit stale. I am the moderator for a few tribes and I have been promoting the SolidWorks Tribe the most. So, I wanted my profile to fit this theme. I have added a lot of Examples of my work from the many CAD packages I have used over the years. I still have a lot of files to add to my Photo area. Consequently this current profile will change.

Please feel free to comment. Let me know what you think of it.

New Tribe??? Change I would like to see!

* #RECENT POSTS# in tribes, Topics Should be set as DEFAULT. Put the all posts on the far right side.

* #ACTIVE MENBERS# The mouse over option for names does not work on EI6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2. The Names should show as DEFAULT.

* In tribe topics, I have no “view all topics” bottom, It should be there at the top and bottom of page.

* Please return the picture box. The pictures in that box are a nice decoration to the tribe, the first thing people see as the view a tribe. It’s a hook. It’s Functional and it’s esthetically pleasing.

*What about adding Text formatting to Tribe description area or basic HTML code, <B>, </B>, <H1>, </H1> and so on. Color would be great. (RED,GRAY,BLACK, over White is hard on the eyes.

*darker border around the sub-sections would be great.

* A lot of wasted space in topic post area. (

* My Icon in left hand side is too small and the “hi, ___” text is too small to read. It would be nice to have a “my tribe” link by this icon,

* In My tribe area on the left hand side. #MY MESSAGES# and #MY STUFF# … could these be turned in to popup menus, fly-outs, or pull down menus to save space?

* I want the old look and functionality back. YET this is still the best site of this type I have seen.

* I would like new web page styles.

* In the #MY TRIBE# area I would like to see all the tribes I am a moderator of.

* I would like to see the old style ## http:// ## link format back.  http://<tribe name>.tribe.net
