It's official --- the lovely and talented Lea has now joined Qantara Dance Company. We are all very excited to have her as part of our group.

The 33rd Goebel Reunion was held at Milheim Harmonie Hall (est 1872). From left to right - my cousins (Vonnie and Sue), my mother (Blanche), and me. The hall has now been granted official historic status and will have the marker soon.

We had a big, traditional German gathering. Everyone brought food and was it good!!

I was prepared for a lot of dancing last week but things came up short. Thursday was great. Anna, Farasha Sh'wani and I performed at San Jacinto College Int'l Festival. Things were organized, there was a full house, and everybody was happy.

Qantara was planning to have great time dancing at the Arab-American Festival on Saturday and Sunday, but the bad weather caused it to be postponed. This festival was to be the first one for Houston having originated in Arizona where it was a big s... read more

Friday was the day at Threadgill's in the Beer Garden. After lunch inside, we quickly grabbed perfect seats under a shade tree in lawn chairs. Performances were a rotation between Burnside Distribution artists on the main stage and acoustic performers on the side stage. Burnside groups -- Or the Whale and Blind Pilot were both good bands but no pizazz in any of their songs. Well Thursday I made my annual "spring break" trek to Austin to meet up with my sister to enjoy SxSW and all the other happenings. The old Oat Willies saying "onward thru the fog" was valid for the morning drive only it was Mother Nature's fog not weed induced.
