Does Hank Azaria know of your interest, 'cause crazy as this may sound...I can totally see it! I say we do some sort of love dance ritual during the next new moon and order up an unexpected NYC encounter.

This girl makes me laugh every time.......no kidding. I really have no idea how we became such fast friends.......it may have something to do with a little common traumatic experience and how we can make each other laugh away all the troubles of the day. The work that she does with kids is what I admire about her the most.
And she gave me the sweetest compliment yesterday - she loves my voice. Which, from a speech pathologist is a grand compliment.
Best of all, she lets me call her "Princess Stephanie".

Stephanie's a newfound friend with a profession I most admire. I'm honored, nay humbled - by our befriending of one another & hope to correspond to cultivate a burgeoning friendship. (ok, that sounded corny - sorry!). Anywayz, someone else who works with people is a good egg in my book. Plus, how can anyone resist such a captivating smile. :)

There are so many words that describe Steph so well
Yet mere words can't define her, but hey what the hell
Intelligent, gorgeous, and kind to a tee
Gregarious, sincere and very friendly.
She's smart and she's funny and really quite cute
A good sense of humour and has talent to boot
I could go on and draw out this ditty
But I'll close in just saying that Steph is quite witty!
So as this terrible poem comes to an end
I am happy and lucky to count Steph as a friend!

The exotic beauty first attracted me
The intelligent wit keeps bringing me back
The face and body of a Goddess
The mind as sharp as a tack
The type of person I want to fill my life with
And that I will miss when it’s time to go
She can choose which knife to cut my heart out with
Because it’s hers already you know
Ever and always
In the winds of grace

Three second graders, all boys. We're answering "Who" questions:
Me: Who fixes cars?
Kid 1: Car fixer?
Me: Yes, but he has a name...what do we call him?
Kid 1: Joe?
Me: No, not his real name...is the person who fixes cars called a doctor?
All: Nooooo!
Kid 2: A mechanical!
Me: Almost...a mechanic. Now, who fixes broken pipes?
Kid 3: A piper!
Me: Close...a plumber.
Kid 3: That's dumb...if he fixes pipes he should be a piper...if he fixed plums...then he's a plumber.
Me: Good point!. Now, who takes bad guys to jail?
Kid 2: The cops.
Me: Right...police officers. Does anyone know where a police officer works?
Kid 1: In jail.
Me: Or a police station... what things does he need to do his job?
Kid 1: A gun!
Kid 2: That big stick...
Kid 3: Donuts...coffee!
(wow, police officers really do have a bad reputation for hanging out at Dunkin Donuts, huh?)

Another new client: 2.5 years old and no bigger than a peanut. The language he does have is very unclear and he is easily frustrated and prone to tantrums which include: hitting, kicking, smacking, pinching and biting. He is also quite non compliant. Mom and I have been working diligently on getting him out of his fits before he gets too carried away as well as implementing "time out". He almost always refuses to repeat words or communicate using anything but gestures. Today, I was pretty angry with his behavior...I got right down to his eye level and said very firmly: STOP and NO! The crying stopped immediately and he just stared at me silently for a good 20 seconds. At this point, he looked to his Mom and said in a little voice, eyes wide with shock: "I scared!" Too funny...but we had a great session after that and he even granted me with a kiss when I left.

I have a sweet and fun group of first graders that I see twice per week in school for speech. We were talking about "groups of things" and that certain groups have names: a flock of birds, a herd of cows, etc.
Me: So, does anyone know what "batch" means?
Kid 1: Ooooh! that's a bad word!
Me: No...there's nothing bad about the word. Why do you say that?
Kid 1: That's what my dad called the guy that hit his car last week...he said he had a son too. A son of that batch...
Me: Um, I think you might have misunderstood...
Kid 2: Oh! I know what it is!! It's what you get when you're big.
Me: What do you mean?
Kid 2: When you go to college....you get a batches degree.
Me: (laughing) That's a Bachelor's degree, honey. No, a batch is when Mommy makes a whole bunch of cookies...
Kid 3: (interrupts) Oh!! It is a bad word! Mommy called Daddy a batches yesterday when he ate all her cookies!
Me: Ok, kids, I think we're getting a little off topic here...

So I'm screening this fourth grader for possible speech and language services. I'm giving him an auditory processing test (for verbal comprehension). I read a story to him about a black dog named Shadow. One of the questions that followed the passage was...
Me: Why do you think the dog was named Shadow?
Kid: Cause he was black and followed the boy around.
Me: Great answer! Can you think of another good
name for a dog with black fur?
*thinking*
Kid: Fred?
Me: Ok....why?
Kid: It's a good name.
Me: Yes it is...but does it make you think of something
that is black in color?
Kid: No.
Me: So, can you think of another name?
Kid: *thinking* No.
Me: Ok, what about Midnight? or Blackie?
Kid: Yea, those are good names.
Me: How about thinking of a name for a dog with
white fur?
Kid: Hmmm....(silence)....um....(more silence)...Oh!
I know...Chuckles!!
Me: Why Chuckles?
Kid: Why not?
Me: Indeed.

Whereas I love meeting new people and am open to doing so, friend invites with no message, no prior contact or exchanges, no common tribes we belong to, or members we are connected through will most likely not be accepted.
Laying low for now...2010 will bring the Caribbean and Italy for sure!!
about me
Speech-Language Pathologist working with EI and elementary school children for the past ten years...in the entertainment industry before that...
I find as I grow older and (hopefully) wiser, that it is important to constantly expand one's horizons, whether that be academically, socially, spiritually... I am looking to connect with interesting people to learn from, to grow with, to impart some of my knowledge to...and yes, perhaps even to form lasting friendships with...(the music swells, fade to black, cut to commercial)
I’ve always had a hard time with the “God thing”. I grew up with my father hammering into my head that I was Jewish, yet my parents did nothing to instill the “faith” in me other than with words. As far as I was concerned, I was Jewish because I was told I was. During my early teen years, I was curious as to what religion was all about, mine in particular. So I joined a few groups, even studied with a rabbi, constantly questioning the Jewish tradition and why things are done the way the...

One of the things that bothers me to no end is seeing morbidly obese children: babies, toddlers, elementary schoolers, and teens. If there is a medical condition associated with the weight problems, I get it and I’m understanding, but more often than not…there is no such problem at all.
Several times this past week, I happened to be in the same places as these children and their aiding and abetting parents. The kids scream and tantrum for what they want, and their moms and dads absentmin...

I’ve been thinking about getting a new MP3 player. Mine is so old that the software isn’t even compatible with Vista. I’m considering the iPod since everyone and their mother has it and they swear by iTunes, but I think about the whole paying for my listening pleasure crap and I think…why do we have to pay for music??? I mean, really!
The tunes are out there on the radio for all to hear. It goes over the airwaves for anyone who wants to listen free of charge. Yet, if we want to own ...

I met a Melissa when she was barely 16. She was dating a friend of my boyfriend’s at the time and we were around each other quite often. I was ten years her senior, but it was obvious there was something very special about her. Tall and statuesque, with long blonde hair, bright hazel eyes and a sweet smile. The girl was drop dead gorgeous and any modeling agency would have snapped her up in a heartbeat. But more than that, she had a kind heart and a charming innocence about her. I liked...

I am a walking disaster area I’ve decided. I poke fun at those who seem to have a black cloud following them around, but when I take a closer look at my history, I wonder if I don’t suffer from the same ailment.
Back in college, I was heading out for a night on the town with my roommates. We were all standing on the corner waiting for the light to change, when suddenly my knee gave out and I fell right off the curb…rending my clothes and bloodying up my perfect outfit. Not too bad, but ...
