about me
I'm known as "smoorefu" most places on the Internet, but you can also call me Stephanie.

I almost always find myself "betwixt and between" in life, and when I started coming out as bisexual that was just another way for me to be "neither fish nor foul nor good red herring". As a result you can often find me explaining the Christians to the Hindus, the scientists to the liberal artists, the monogamous to the swingers, or vice versa. I am bisexual, an SM switch, educated in the liberal arts, mechanical engineering and art, was raised in the country but have lived in big cities, am a Christian with pagan and Jewish sensibilities, would be a liberal Republican if they existed anymore, etc.

I am an "alien" to popular culture. In general, if you make a reference that you assume everyone will get, I won't get it.

I went to a really weird school called St. John's College (www.sjca.edu) where they claim to teach you to think. The "New Program" is a course of study consisting of what *used* to be considered an education; reading and discussing the classics. In actuality, they teach you how to be an oddball intellectual and have lots and lots of books.

I "do my part" by volunteering as an editor at the Open Directory Project (www.dmoz.org). Google as well as many other search engines use Open Directory data as part of their search algorithm.

Re: Let's Talk Plants: Hawthorn (in Herbal Wisdom) As a kid my brothers and I would pick the berries to nibble on when playing outside or going on walks. Sort of like a raisin, but watch out for the very large seed!

Re: Lets move somewhere else. Shall we? (in Simple Living) Oh, I don't know. A lot of the tribes I'm in seem to be waking up again in the last 3-4 months. Not all of them, but some. Why not start a new thread on an interesting topic and see what happens?

Re: Carminatives (in Herbal Wisdom) My understanding is that carminatives also increase peristaltic action, which is the "moving things along" motion of the digestive tract. Therefore they are recommended for an upset stomach, but not for diarrhea, for example.

Re: Decaf Kombucha (in Kombucha Tea) This is a topic that comes up every 6 months or so. Some claim that the kombucha fermentation removes the caffeine, some claim that it doesn't. I haven't yet seen any proof either way.

What most if not all kombucha brewers do agree on, howeve... read more

Re: Oral sex - don'ts! (in Bisexual Love)
I agree with Lester. Just because some don't like this, doesn't mean everyone doesn't. Personally I find it hot.

Re: Terms to know: Nervine (in Herbal Wisdom) I think the general rule of thumb is 2 ounces of dried plant material to 1 quart of boiling water, steep covered for at least 4 hours and not more than overnight. Then strain and refridgerate. You can drink it hot, cold, warm, mixed with juice, ... read more

"related tribes", but for a person? (in Tribe.net Brainstorm) I just had an idea that I for one would love to see. It would be similar to the "related tribes" function in a tribe, but this would be for an individual. The logic would be: take all the tribes a person belongs to, find all the people in those... read more

Re: Taking lable off of GT jars (in Kombucha Tea) There's a product called "Goo Gone" that is made of orange oil. It works great to dissolve such glues.
