Change: its nature, how we interact with it, its influence over us, ways that we can learn to harmonize with it, how to recognize when we're out of harmony with it, what it means to be with the changes.

I am beginning my graduate study and will delve into studying the novel as a tool for social change, anti-institutionalism, individualism, the reformation, the enlightenment, the industrialization, romanticism, victorianism, realism, naturalism, modernism, regionalism, transcendentalism, the antebellum era, the philosophical climate of early america, the evolution of philosophy, the influence of organized religion upon the individual and society.

These are all things that I want to learn about, not for the sake of knowing more, but in order to apply their lessons in every moment, in order to be a more complete person. In drawing upon the wisdom of all these lines of people, I hope to see the past clearly and to be able to look toward the future with eyes unclouded.
