This Magic Moment

Wow. I mean... WOW! Never before have I attended an event that added to me so much. I learned from some of the most progressive poi artists in the world and got to spin with them. I was even able to implement a lot of what I learned with fire while I was there. Nothing less than amazing!

Thank you SKY for putting it all together and to all of the amazing teachers at the workshops I got the chance to take ... Chris Rovo, Alien Jon, Arashi, Yuta, Zan -- you all took my brain on a rol... read more

Whoa, this is something that hasn't happened for a long while -- I learned a new poi move! How did this happen, you may be wondering. Did I suddenly run into a super cool jedi from somewhere out there or discover a new website chockfull of uber-poi lessons? Nay, I tell you!

While trying to decide what Firedrums workshop to take I ran across a move name that I was unfamiliar with so I looked it up. The "Pendulum Weave" they call it, or the "1.5s Weave." It's funky, it's fabulous, it ma... read more

I'm going to have quite a travel- and poi-filled May this year! I talked my professor who is giving my last final on May 2 into letting me take it early, so now I can go to this event that I've been hearing so much about!

I look forward to seeing old friends, making new friends, polishing old skills, and adding new ones!

If you're a fire artist, you really MUST come! It's only $60 for the whole weekend and includes two meals per day, camping, and at least a dozen workshops from wo... read more

Woohoo! I'm finally going to train with Nick Woosley! and in tropical Bali! I could explode :)

If you're a poister with the time and means to join me, please do! I plan to be there somewhere between May 13th and 27th. Most of the investment is the plane ticket ($1100-1500), once you get there a place to stay is $10-$15 a night so you can imagine how inexpesive everything else is...

Otherwise, wish me luck! :-D

about me
I am on a quest... for what? Ask me when I get there for details, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with either reading and writing or fire dancing.... or maybe both?

I'm an artist at heart. Values like Love, Freedom, and Truth equally comfort and confound me. I feel compelled to travel to distant lands and meet all different types of people. Maybe somewhere out there, I'll find myself... or is it make myself?

Education Goals - the Road to PhD

I'm a student of the human condition. I study it through the lenses of literature, philosophy, and religion. I seek to find meaningful connections between these three areas that will further my understanding of the continuing evolution of our culture.

My main area of academic interest in literature is the Anti-Institutionalism in British and American literature that began in the era of industrialization and continues today. Aspects of this area I have begun to explore include Individualism, Romanticism, Victorianism, Realism, Naturalism, the philosophical climate of early America, Transcendentalism, the Antebellum era, the evolution of Philosophy and Psychology, and the influence of organized Religion upon the individual and society.

I am pursuing a Master’s Degree in order to refine my analytical and writing skills, for guidance in concentrating my scope of study, and to prepare to pursue my PhD. As a professor of Industrial British and American Literature specializing in the influence of the concurrent philosophical and religious movements, I hope to unlock the information lying within various literature movements in order to aid our understanding of the development of society so that maybe we can create the future with a new clarity.
