<div>I installed the 3rd of 7 fish in park city a couple days ago. There will be one for each color, so far we have the primary colors.</div>

										<div>I broke ground on a large public art installation for the city of park city this week. We dug 7 holes, 3 feet deep to support the donated rail from the silver mine which will hold the 7 fish sculptures. The first two are complete and sitting out in front of my shop ready to swim up to park city. They will be installed behind the old miners hospital between the poison creek and the city park.
More to come...</div>

    </a>
										<div>so this photo is of my trip home from LIB. I got stuck in a snow storm going over the pass in Beaver. I stopped under an overpass for a couple hours hoping that it would pass me by, but the snow got so deep that I was afraid that I wouldn't get out with my 2X4 truck, so I went for it and slipped and slid 15 mph down I 15 at 3:00 am. Isn't the desert fun.</div>

    </a>
										<div>
I just got back from a 3 week tour with the solar saucer to California. We did 8 different events while in CA and demonstrated all kinds of ways to use solar energy and met with many companies in the clean tech industry. Just to name a few of the events, we were asked to provide power and sound for a film festival that we screened on the UC Santa Barbra clock tower, we hosted a dance party on the Venice board walk, we provided one of the major art installations at the Lightning in a Bottle Arts festival which I was asked to speak on the alternative energy and sustainable Art panel and met with the board of directors from icell batteries and Disney Ventures.

This is the third tour that I have taken the saucer on this yr and it was a huge success. We were able to connect with thousands of people and got to see and implement some cool new technologies. The most interesting are a new battery technology that is 10 times the power with a 10th of the weight and an energy management system which allows me to monitor energy use to compare and optimize energy use.

I am planning another tour in July where I will connect up with a couple other groups working on similar projects such as the sustainability road show, Our Future Now and Sustainable Waves. All of these groups are working to promote clean healthy sustainable living through example. We will be hitting 6 cities in 3 weeks and have many interesting events planned.

In March I was in Austin for the SXSW music/film festival where we were interviewed by Discovery. They were there doing a segment on Art, Technology and Sustainability in the music festival industry. We were there providing back line power to several different events including the Red Bull party and the Enchanted Forrest's ARt Outside exhibit. My goal is to show as many people as possible that solar power works and that it is easy to use. The artistic design of the saucer makes it an easy forum for people to discuss alternative energy and of course the random alien/UFO encounter. Since it is mobile we are able to take it to places and provide power and sound that you wouldn't normally find it. We have been having a good time screening random films on the side of buildings and box cars or playing underground music with top DJs in warehouses and remote spaces on the fly. Its my favorite thing to see someone walk around the corner to find "The Corporation" playing on the side of Walmart at 2:00 am. It seems to make people smile, even the cops.

I hopped online today to find my House Representative, I wanted to let them know that I would like them to vote no on the warrantless wiretapping bill that is in the house today. I accidentally called Melvin Brown who is the house representative for the district next door. Melvin’s message begins with a zesty “tell me what you would like me to do and I will do all that I can to make it happen.” As I listened to Melvin’s voicemail recording I was filled with excitement and renewed confidence that our government is the people, not some “man” who is trying to hold us down, or some big brother figure that is pulling the strings, who doesn’t listen to our words or the words of the entire world for that matter. No, Melvin is going to do what ever I ask him. But, just as him message ends, he tells me that Christ loves me and to remember to read my scriptures. Argggg! I had to listen to the message again to make sure I had heard him correctly. An elected member of the STATE house of representatives, urging me to read my scriptures, on his STATE voice mail message. I love the scriptures, I really do. My favorite is in the Book of the US Constitution, Chapter Bill of rights, Amendment one, where St. Thomas, (Jefferson) urges his followers to separate their religious beliefs from their political views. Melvin has not returned my call but luckily we are the government and we get to elect new representatives. Perhaps Kathy Loft has read her scriptures.

<div>Sustainable waves from Austin Texas brought us out for the SXSW music festival. We took off Monday night to drive 1600 miles. We made it to Moab the first night and drove the saucer to the top of Gemini Bridges and turned the lights on for all the passers by to see. The next morning we drove to Roswell. The solar saucer was a big hit. As we approached the boarder of Roswell, the alarm on my fisherman art piece started to ring. The materials were really responding to each other.</div>

										<div>Solar Powered Flying Saucer Crash-Lands In Nevada Dessert:

The Solar Saucer made its maiden voyage at this year’s Burning Man Art Festival

In harmony with the 2007 “Green Man” theme this mobile art installation is a perfect culmination of art and 21st century technology. Made entirely of recycled materials the sculptural solar array gives old discarded junk a new life. The Combination of our recycled past with technology from our future turn this art piece into a podium for social commentary.

“What does it do?” “Does it fly?” The solar saucer serves also as a beautiful and interactive educational tool. Visionary artist and creator, Scott Whitaker, traveled with the Solar Saucer to Kings Beach elementary school to discuss solar power, alternative energy, and topics related to global warming where adults and children experienced its playful appearance and technical prowess.

The Solar Saucer stores 1.75 kilowatts per hour in 16 batteries located onboard. Running a 48-volt system the Solar Saucer has a 3600-watt grid tie inverter. Fully mobile it can provide power anywhere a traditional generator would be used. Powering its own light system, silently and sweetly, its LED-lighting beckons life forms in from afar. The Solar Saucer provides the stage for interactive performance art as well as power for anything you would traditionally “plug in”.

Based in Salt Lake City Utah, artist and visionary Scott Whitaker creates art out of recycled materials and facilitates journeys incorporating his art, with study of light, sound, and sacred geometry. Founder of the non-profit AMO Tribe, community leader, and educator, Whitaker strives to create positive solutions addressing the environment and global community. He inspires with his approach to healing the planet through multi-dimensional art. The Solar Saucer is available to power your green or off the grid events as well as an educational tool for those interested in learning more about solar power. For more information please contact scottysoltronic@gmail.com or visit thesolarsaucer.com. Whitaker is available for comments and interviews. Photos and video of the Solar Saucer can be provided by request or downloaded from the website.

What do you call your art?

<div>As I get ready to present my Art to a broader community outside of the burningman community I have been asking myself what to call it. Not any one particular piece, but all of what I do from treasure hunting in scrap piles to working as a member of a team to haul and set up the whole experience to grounding that experience into a reality. Not that my art needs a genre, I have been doing this for yrs without a name but I feel like there is more to what I do than metal sculpture. Some of my work requires participation which leads into an experience which leads into an opportunity for learning. What do you call this and more importantly, how do I accurately and quickly describe this style of art/lifestyle to a potential customer or art curator, or gallery owner.
I had a friend recently tell me that my art was “Steampunk.” So I checked it out. I found a ton of really cool things and laughed all morning at the ingenuity of the human race and was insprired to create more Galactic Goggles. Perhaps my art is Steampunk, maybe its Cyberpunk, Tribal, Pop Junk, Hot art, Found Object, Shamanic or Visionary, but is there another term out there that snaps our generation and the art that we are creating but also includes the other aspect of participation?

Comfortably Numb

<div>The war on Terror isn't usually the first thing I think of when I wake up, but today it was. I finished my taxes yesterday and I'm feeling the pinch from the man. The thought of G dub spending 28% of my cash to fund his fucked up bullshit has me a little on edge. I'm finding myself in my head a lot. Everyone around me seems dulled out. Dimmed down. I'm working hard not to express my anger with everyone I see. Holding back with a smile. Why do I want them to wake up and get pissed off or kick something or throw something. Why do I want them to feel my anger. Why do I want them to talk about it and scream it out. Everyone in this coffee shop seems to be happy and content. They look less helpless than I feel. I want people to be happy, I really do, so why do I want to prod them. Hmmmm, why do I feel contempt for their content. What is this thing growing inside me that wants to pull the curtain back for the woman across from me who is so happy about the new addition to her house, she can't stop talking about it. I know she gets glimpses of the shit we are being feed. I know in her own way, on her own time, with her own friends, she gets fucking pissed. I know that someone somewhere listens to her and thinks she is a fanatical conspiracy freak. But here today, in the coffee shop, she is stoked about egg shell white and she is making me feel hopeless and alone. It's not her fault, and its not just her. Its that guy (scotty points his finger at a kid harmlessly studying) and the two girls behind the counter. They all look like fake plastic people. Like card board cut outs that are propped here, doing their job filling space. A guy just walked in, HE looks pissed. I wonder if he's been racking his brain on the current riddle of affairs or trying to solve the unsolvable middle east puzzel. Maybe he will do it. Maybe he will start kicking and screaming. Maybe he will be the one to say, "No More."... Nope, he is just like me. Silent and pissed. Playing a part in it all. Thinking, "at least the real bad shit is happening to someone else and not me. Glad I have food, water, electricity, this whole thing sucks ass but what can I do." I got a response letter back from my congressman, Rob Bishop to my protest to added troops in Iraq. What bullshit. He said we need to keep fighting this war and that we will always be fighting this war. The day we stop fighting is the day we lose our freedom to Islamic militants.

I have so much to do today. My frustration makes me ineffective, inefficient and a burden to those around me. In order to finish my list of things to do today, I must join them in the mask. So here I go,
Deep Breath....
One, Looking out the window, a thin film forms, it's a beautiful day, Two, deep breath, glad to be alive. Three, feeling calmer now, fists relaxing,Four, giving thanks for the beautiful people in my liffe. Five, relaxing, reality is shifting now, Six, thoughts of Jay make me smile. Seven, going deeper, through the veil, Eight, my coffee is smelling good, Nine, the room is getting lighter and the world seems brighter now, Ten, looking around, I forget what I was saying, a bit cloudy, a new focus, ah, content with my process.

I like egg shell white.</div>

Entheogen: Awakening the Divine Within is a feature length documentary which invites the viewer to rediscover an enchanted cosmos in the modern world by awakening to the divine within.

Daniel Pinchbeck
Rolling Stone said that Daniel Pinchbeck, author of 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl (Tarcher/Penguin, May 4, 2006), “has created a scene around him that is perhaps the youngest and most vibrant of the current psychedelic establishment.” He has found himself at the forefront of a movement that utilizes psychedelics such as ayahuasca and psilocybin as essential psychic and spiritual tools.

Ralph Metzner
Ralph Metzner has been exploring states of consciousness for more than fourty years. He earned his B.A. from Oxford University and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Harvard in 1962. In 1964 he co-authored The Psychedelic Experience with Timothy Leary and Richard Alpert.

Stephen LaBerge
Stephen LaBerge is a psychophysiologist and a leader in the scientific study of lucid dreaming. He began researching lucid dreaming while working on his Ph. D at Stanford University. He developed techniques (REM cues) to enable himself and other researchers to enter a lucid dream state at will, most notably the MILD technique (mnemonic induction of lucid dreams), which was necessary for many forms of dream experimentation. In 1987, he founded The Lucidity Institute, an organization that promotes research into lucid dreaming, as well as running courses for the general public on how to achieve lucid dreaming. His technique of signalling to a collaborator monitoring his EEG with agreed-upon eye movements during REM became the first published, scientifically-verified signal from a dreamer's mind to the outside world.

Bassnectar
For the last decade, Lorin Ashton has helped develop the North American underground dance music scene. From touring full time as a DJ (an average of 125 shows per year), to his production &amp; remixing under the alias Bassnectar, he has ammassed a dedicated fan base, crossing over from hip hop to electronica to breakbeat to ragga/dub to the jam band scene and the greater Burningman scene.

Videolicious
Videolicious the primal dance of the senses on the edge of illusion and lucid awakening. Blending nature and technology, space and oceanic seascapes, 3D animation and visionary landscapes, Videolicious dances visual delights to the musical rhythms of creation. Videolicious is the creative lightning storm of Mr. Boris Karpman. He has been intoxicating audiences since 2003, performing at large scale events, concerts, and festivals from NY to California.
