I've been dancing for about six years. I work full time while pursuing my B.S. in Accounting at Rutgers University, Newark. Just one more year to go. Woohoo! I have studied with the likes of Tanta of Clark, NJ, Anahid Sofian of NY, Audie Stellato of Montclair, NJ and currently under Andrea Anwar of NY. I also had the pleasure to take various workshop with well known instructors like Rachel Brice, Samara, Aszmara, Amar, Chadia of Gypsy Caravan Enterprises, Morocco’s Weeklong Workshop, Fleur and Geela of The Philadelphia Tribal Bellydance troupe (the two are no longer together), Jehan, Madga, and Ranya just to name a few. I have also belonged to various dance troupes and currently a member of Gia al Qamar’s Urban Desert Dancers troupe.

My style is somewhat unique. It fuses the all of the different styles that I have learned together. I mostly perform to what is called “underground” or “house” music which is often played in non-commercialized clubs. I am also a beat junkie who loves tribal beats. This allows me to freely express myself. I feel as if bellydance is a celebration of womanhood and to see me perform with such emotion, is to see that I am truly celebrating!

I am also the owner and founder of Shades of Lakshmi, LLC.A bellydance entertainment company, which is geared toward hosting haflas and workshops.
