Beginning the a-peel process

   Wed, May 7, 2008 - 7:46 AM
I knew it was going to happen. I actually remembered (shock) to put on my sunscreen out at Interfuse.... but it must have rubbed off or just not been strong enough. I knew I was in for it when I woke up sunday morning and my face had that "tight" feeling. Then of course there was that moment when looked in the mirror and realized that my face was somewhere between red and purple.....

Yesterday afternoon, when I went to raise my eyebrows and it felt like my forehead had dried elmers glue all over it.... I knew.

This morning I'm looking scary. Despite scrubbing my face with apricot scrub and numerous applications of moisturizer... my forehead an nose are peeling like crazy.
yick.

Hope nothing hurts
Burn is a bummer. Last time I got toasted badly was in '86 in the Florida Keys. That friggin' hurt. Aloe cools the burn real nice, and moisturizes real well...so if you try that......it might help.

I can't tell you how honored and pleased I was to finally meet you at Interfuse '08. It won't be the last time our paths cross, I'm sure.

well, live and learn right!? luckily this didn't happen at BM, since it's way more of a discomfort out there! aloe is your best friend!!! and some tylenol!

(((hugs))) glad you had fun though!

Wow man... well, I tell ya what. Becky from St. Louis gifted me her departed husbands drum at InterFuse this weekend. I'm gonna have to get myself up into the Monday drum circle and get lessons and stuff - this drum is simply too wonderful not to be played by someone who knows how. I promise not to be freaked out by the peel. Deal?

You need some blue shit!
After spring break in South Padre, the Karp and I were way burned. On the way home we found some Aloe w/ lidocaine in it (it was blue, natch) and that was some addictive shit. Every hour or so it would be "put some blue shit on me...puh leeeeze!"

Brent & Greggo took it home after our first InterFuse in which they used ZERO sunscreen (we were only there Saturday, but still...)

Oh dear! Maybe youre a selkie too. Once you shed all that skin you become human:)
It 's been really hot here today and I need to shop for it. I'm just not ready. Sunblock creams can loose their protectiveness if you've had them for a while. I've been caught out with that before.

Thank you all- I love aloe, but somehow ended up NOT having an aloe plant in the house at the moment. {Now sure how that happened, exactly......}
Anyway - "Blue Shit" you say.... very interesting. Gotta look that up!
Rhino - any time brother!!
Kyrka - you are more than welcome --- looking forward to seeing you there! (I'm pretty sure the skin-shedding will be over by Monday)
Love to you all!! (i loves me tribe family)

I too am shedding regardless of the liberal use of sun block... I can pin point it to the 3PM drum meeting on Saturday when we were sitting in the direct sun. Thankfully my burns turn to tans quickly. Hang in there and moisturize the hell out of it. :)

dude, I feel you. I peeled for three WEEKS after I got home from Mexico. No joke. The first two weeks were my back and arms, and face, then two weeks in, my legs started.

No matter how much I loofahed and scrubbed, it just took it's time.

Go fig.

Oh, and the (Target knockoff) Neutrogena spray on, waterproof stuff? It isn't. Just FYI.
