Tagging - a bit different, from Hadara

<div>This one is different and interesting:-)

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next three sentences in your journal along with these instructions. Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.

I grabbed, the "Price Guide to the Occult," from 1967

"469. Bellamy, H.S. -- The Atlantis Myth. Lond., n.d. $4.00 (LAR-58), $2.00 (JAC-63)
470. --The Book of Reveltaion is History. Lond., 1942. $3.00 (LAR-58), $2.00 (JAC-63)
472. Bellegay, Michael M. --Man's Eternal Progress. N.Y., 1952. $2.00 (WEIS-66)"

Weird, there was no 471, just a blank line. </div>

<div>I have the best shopping high! I just got home from the thrift store where I found hand embroidered gallabiyas for $14.99/each!!!!! They are absolutely gorgeous, and they are large!!!!!! They had sari blouses and matching skirts in satin too, along with head scarves. The original tags were all in Hindi. I can't believe it!!!

I was so excited while I was standing in line to pay for them, that the cashier politely told me where the rest room was! I nearly danced out of the store!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, even though a tassel whacking and a veil snapping are very tempting I don't think it would make a difference. This is also not in the belly dance community, and I might look odd with a veil.

I think I will just collect the things I have loaned this person and make a quiet unobtrusive exit from their life.</div>

You let your feelings show, and get emotional, and when it is all over you thank them for the help and the shoulder to cry on. And then the next night they are out blabbing to the town all about what happened!!!

<div>I am back to normal, or at least the way I used to be. My vision is back, I don't need glasses again. I am not getting light headed and fainting, and I even walked a mile and a half today. :)

I can drive again, and have consequently jumped back into the grind. Spent all day today, and will probably spend half of tommorow fixing the car (I was doing that Tuesday and Wednesday last week, before the 'event'). Finally figured out it is just an old battery, alternator is fine and everything else is fine. However, the garage at my dealership wanted $140 for the battery and labor to put it in. Screw that dude. I can buy the same battery for $50 at Sam's and they do free installation.

I don't really want to, but I should learn how to put a battery in the van. This is the first vehicle I have owned with a side mount battery, and I am not thrilled about working on it. It is one of those engines where you can only reach half of what you need, and that only from the bottom. I love the interior room, and space for the kids, and the stuff, but oh how I miss my old boats. </div>

<div>I just got back from my follow up with my regular doc. She is sure I am over all of the stuff dealing with the pennyroyal. But I am still feeling miserable. She thinks I caught something else, either during or before the rest of the mess. So they are doing more tests, looking for more stuff and telling me to rest.

I still have a hard time reading without my glasses, and can't walk very well because I have no sense of balance. But, I am improving. I need to get back to me soon, at least to where I can drive again. My poor husband is really stressing out about the work he is missing taking care of the kids. </div>

<div>I thought I would post here to let those of you know that I did actually live through the disaster of a day on Wednesday. The chances of someone actually living through a fatal poisioning like that are pretty slim, so it is no small miracle I am still here.

I still don't have my vision back 100%, but I may never be able to see the same again, and the damage to my face may be permanent they said. I have what looks like a very hot/dense rash on my face, but it is below the skin.

The straight story is that I accidentally ingested Pennyroyal Essential Oil. How you might ask? I made some tea round 2:30 and went to put some Tea Tree oil in it. Something I have done before, never had any ill effects, etc. But I grabbed the wrong bottle, put about a 1/4 of a teaspoon in, and drank it down. I felt fine until about 4:30 when I got light-headed, dizzy and naseous. I looked in the cabinet and saw the wrong bottle out front. As I was puking, I called my husband and 911, since I was home alone with the kids.

It was quite a stay in the ER and then overnight for observation, with lots of the worst tasting medicines ever invented, all taken orally of course. But I am alive, and still mostly mentally present, so I am happy.

But this has taken it out of me, and I am going back to bed. </div>

<div>Living on a dead end street has its perks, but road construction is not one of them. It is like the idiots forget that there is no way around. Every single time I have gone out of my house in the last three days my street has been blocked off completely. I live at the very end of the street. I go in and out of my house a minnimum of 6 times a day, and usually more if I need to run an errand, or go to the store or anything. It is ridiculous. Hello, there is no way around, it is a dead end street!! Do they even think?? Today they have parked two trucks in front of my driveway (not two different trucks, two different times, but both times stacked both trucks in front of my driveway), and then they look at me all pissed off when they have to move it!! Dude, quit parking your equipment in front of driveways!!!!!!

Arg. And to top it off, they are working on the sewer pipes, so my house smells loverly. And these houses are old enough that the main electric ground connects to the out going sewer line. Since they are ripping out the house/city connection and putting in a plastic one, there goes my electric ground! We have already had one house catch on fire.

Freaking city work. Leave my front yard alone. And my new irises just started blooming. No more flower beds.</div>

<div>I just sent off my submission for a new pagan magazine in town "The Presence." The first issue is due out at Beltane (May 1st). The first issue is going to be given out free at the 11th annual Wichita May Day event. They plan to publish once a month.

I am delighted to be writing a regular column again, since the last zine I was writing for stopped publishing in February. And this sounds like a good publication. Lots of focus on activities and the diversity of the community. I highly recommend you check it out (if it is your sort of thing of course). After the distribution at May Day, there will be a drop list in the magazine for places to purchase it in the future. </div>

<div>I can't believe, totally new tribal costume done in 11 days!!! That is the fastest I have ever made one of my own costumes. I am so proud of myself. I managed to make a costume and not go nuts or second guess myself through the whole thing.

I will have pictures of it after saturday I hope, since that is when I am wearing it. :) I made a new circle skirt, new tribal bra, reversible turkish vest, pantaloons, a ghawazee under thingy (it is sheer and goes on the bottom layer, but is cut like a ghawzee coat), new turban scarves and bits to go on it, and reworked some larger peices of jewelry for the costume that were broken. :)

Now, for a brief break. ahhhhh</div>

Faster than a speeding bullet

<a href="http://people.tribe.net/soseneda/blog/68e3510d-9769-4ac1-bf51-4b20e2f52436"> <img class=" picThumb" src="http://images.tribe.net/tribe/upload/photo/0c6/c47/0c6c473a-51d7-439f-a2bb-14e78ecfa32a.thumb" width="65" height="46" alt="" />
    </a>
<div>Can I get an amen for the Wichita gossip machine?

My word, that thing runs on perpetual motion and must have the world's best lubricants, because news travels through faster than a speeding bullet.

If it isn't one of my communities it is the other, and this week it has been all but one of them. Bless the gamers, they are too busy rolling dice to care about much of anything else!

Some of it has been good and some of it has been bad, but all of it has been lightening fast. Now is the time to start a trend! It will go around and back to you while it is still popular.

Anyways, my story. I get up this morning and take the family to their respective jobs and schools, and go home to spend ten minutes sprucing myself for meeting 1 of 6 on this lovely Tuesday. After driving the Wichita streets with one of the dmv's valedictorians ::rolls eyes:: I arrive to be confronted in the doorway before I can put down my briefcase by something that can only be described as an 'intervention league.'

These ladies proceed to tell me in those conspiratorial half whisper half high pitched squeel tones that I have stepped on the big wig's toes by turning in my yearly reports before hers. I checked my tongue before it lashed out to explain concepts like deadlines and responsibilities and just smiled and said thank you.

After a very terse conversation over our budget, up comes the reports. She throws her stack of papers down in front of me and says "Did you have fun this weekend?" Needless to say I was completely suprised at the non-sequiter. After looking really stupid for a few moments, I said the best I could come up with: "Umm, yeah?"

After about five minutes of being scolded for being overly thorough in my research, and always being prompt, and not having any spelling errors in my reports, the real reason for things came out. She was hurt that she wasn't invited to 'my party.' About this time, suddenly everyone else in the room was extremely interested in their nails, their paperwork or the carpet. I had to stop from laughing out loud as I explained that my big to do party this weekend was a midnight LAN party where my husband I got together with some other computer geeks and stayed up way too late on junk food and caffiene playing a beta of a module one of us wrote for a MRPG (!). Not something this lady would be interested in at all.

As today went on it was more of the same everywhere I went. So and so said that you were doing this, or you said that, or something just ludicrous! And it was all stuff that had to have happened since Friday!

As I sit here goofing off for just a bit today, it dawned on me that that power of rumor and gossip is approaching small town levels around here.

So, perhaps with the internet and our fast paced lives, we are not losing touch with the way things used to be, but we are making the world our own small town. Just remember to be home when the street lights come on, or you know who might tell whats her name, and then you will get one of those emails. :)</div>

Finished Book, Bottled Wine, and new toys

    </a>
<div>I am very happy!!!! I got the digital proofs for my book today. It is done, done, done, done, done!!!! ::does happynekkidpagandance::

I am excited to have it finished. It is a local witchy almanac. Turned out to be 300 pages all together, and I decided not to illustrate it! Next year's will probably be quite a bit worse :) hehe

I am finally no longer sick. Can't believe it but I am not feeling icky for a change. And, to boot, the dishes are caught up. I hate doing dishes, and always avoid them. But aparently my dear husband hates them more, because he does everything else first, just like me :) Mental note: teach the kids to do the dishes when they are older.

I racked, tested and bottled up three batches of wine tonight in celebration of the book being finished. The peach/almond stuff smells down right amazing. I really didn't think it would work out to well. But, magick happened in the primary. It is a golden pink color right now. I racked off the mango, and it is very clear. Still have more than 3 gallons of it though, I was expecting it to go under the 3 gallon mark at this racking. So I am scrambling for extra containers for it. Especially since before I started messing with the wines I already had on the bench, I made a five gallon batch of orange mead for this summer! What was I thinking?

I discovered a bottle of sage and celery wine that had gone sparkling in the wine cabinet!!!! This means it is carbonating itself, and undergoing another slight fermentation. In other words, caching: awesome wine for tommorow night! You may be thinking sage and celery wine sounds gross, but it is a divine thing. This is my next to last bottle of it, so I need to make some when the sage gets its fresh growth this spring.

And I am so happy, I got some new toys for xmas. Not what you are thinking. :) I got to go to the chemistry store!! I have a couple of new graduated cylinders that make life easier, three new retorts! and various other bits that only make us closet chemists happy. I am sure most of you out there think I am crazy. Thats okay, the new thermometers make up for it. I also got another little tiny motar and pestle. It is so cute, only holds about a tablespoon all together. I forgot to pick up a watch glass while I was there I discovered. But I think the rest of the gadgets will tide me over until next week.

If anyone wants to check out the book further or buy it online, I do have it available through my website:

Uhg! I am sick

<div>I am sick. I have been denying the truth for a week or so, but I need to face the facts. I have an ear infection, and I feel downright miserable.

I hate being sick. It drives me up the wall. Now if it were something that made me feel ultra crappy, I wouldn't mind it as much. Kind of weird, I know. But if I feel really bad, I can just go to bed and sleep till it is over, and my family will take care of me. But, when it is something that makes me feel bad, but not terrible, oh it is so much worse!! And in this case it isn't contagious, so I can't even stay home from work/school. I still have to get my chores done and take care of the kids.

I never like being sick, because the house always falls behind. It is such a rude awakening to suddenly realize you actually feel better today than before, and then realize the laundry and the dishes are piled up and waiting for you.

I've got some ear tea boiling on the stove, and hopefully I will feel like a normal person before my meeting tonight. I would like to just crawl into bed, watch some sappy movies and leisurely crochet all day. But.... I have to get my book finished up. Only about three chapters left to edit before it goes to the printers. My goal was to get it finished in time for Yule (hoping to get some copies of the first run), but obviously that won't happen.

My laptop is annoying to write on, I don't like the keyboard :( So I guess I will set up my desk chair with an ottoman and some pillows. And will curl up with some of my favorite cinnamon and irish cream coffee and see if I can pound through the last of this editing today.

I have to worry too, because I am pretty sure my husband is sick also. But, he is superman at work, and wouldn't dare stay home. I think he has missed perhaps one day of work in the last ten years because he was sick. He has missed more for me being sick! I am sure he is getting whatever it was the kids and I had a couple of weeks ago.

I am sure I will feel better when the evening rolls around. I am night person, and when I am down in the weather it comes out even more. </div>

My business website is up, at least part of it :) With more on the way!! And my personal site is not too far behind.

I feel relieved to finally have drawn all the bits together into a cohesive pile.

And to top it off, I just mixed up what I hope will be a great batch of peach and almond wine. :)

They went through the glove box, took the owner's manual for the car, and took my kids' raincoats. I am not sure what else was in the glove box. They didn't touch my tags, and I don't think they took any past registrations (the most recent one is there). The title wasn't in the car. It just creeps me out.

What will they do with the information they got? I am just on edge now. </div>

What A Miserable Freakin' Day!

<div>I have had it, the universe can stick it for all I care at this point. My weekend was pretty shot. I had plans to do some fun stuff with the kids Sat. afternoon. When I got home from work, they had given one another bloddy noses. We got things settled, and decided we would just do the go out to dinner part of the plan, and had a pretty nice dinner. The entree was really disappointing, but oh well. We went early to beat the rush, and the storms. Then a friend called needing help with their computer. So they brought it over, and hung out uncomfortably on the couch for about 6 hours. They finally left, realizing the problem was not going to be fixed so quickly.

I slept in on Sun. and when I awoke, the DH and I planned to have a pretty easy going, lazy day. We did some worksheets with the kids, read our family store and then all unanimously voted for some video game time. Then my grandma called to ask for some computer help since they were in town. That took 3 hours, and then my mom called to have us over for dinner because my brother needed some computer help. And we still ended up bringing my brother's pc home.

DH and I stayed up late, to get some video game time in with our friends (we play a MMORPG). We finally turned in around midnight. At 1 am I woke up with a bug in my ear!! The horrendous and extremely painful ordeal got me home today around 2. I guess I shouldn't have even gone to the ER, as they did some damage to my eardrum and my ear canal. My general practioner just looked in my ear, and reached in a pulled it out and gave me a scrip for some numbing/anti-bacterial ear drops. This was after the hours of intense pain and screaming and crying at the ER. They never did get it out, I eventually just told them to stop, I was leaving, I couldn't take it anymore.

My husband and kids were up with me all night, freaked out. And so the day has been out of kilter. For what work DH went to (his assistant is on vacation, so he has the department to himself), it was not a good day, and then he had to get some sleep. And to top it all off, we have had this beautiful rain, which I love, and I wanted to be out in. But now I can't go out and play in it, because of my darn ear. And while we were out driving in it, the blower on the car went out again!! It just spontaneously decided to stop on the way home from the ER this am, and then just started working again this evening.

At least I have the nice weather to keep my spirits up.</div>

    </a>
<div>In the last week or so I have become immersed in my study of astology again. Don't remember how I got there, but that's the way it goes. Staying up till the sun peeks in through my porch window, and I go out to great the sunrise before getting some sleep, definately translates to getting something in my head. :)

I have been researching the occurence of the magickal personality and the manner of magical thought. Most people with a NT and NF type end up in a magickal lifestyle of one sort or another, while SP and SJ types don't think of the idea of spiritual and personal growth as a need, and sometimes even think of people who pursue these things as a little out of whack.

So, in the modern day effort of instant gratification and online quizes, I looked up a couple of personality tests based on the Jung- Myers-Briggs typology. Neat stuff :)

The Portrait of the FieldMarshal Rational (eNTj)

Copyrighted ? 1996-2004 Prometheus Nemesis Book Company
Of the four aspects of strategic analysis and definition, it is marshalling or situational organizing role that reaches the highest development in Fieldmarshals. As this kind of role is practiced some contingency organizing is necessary, so that the second suit of the Fieldmarshal's intellect is devising contingency plans. Structural and functional engineering, though practiced in some degree in the course of organizational operations, tend to be not nearly as well developed and are soon outstripped by the rapidly growing skills in organizing. But it must be said that any kind of strategic exercize tends to bring added strength to engineering as well as organizing skills.

As the organizing capabilities the Fieldmarshal increase so does their desire to let others know about whatever has come of their organizational efforts. So they tend to take up a directive role in their social exchanges. On the other hand they have less and less desire, if they ever had any, to inform others.

Hardly more than two percent of the total population, the Fieldmarshals are bound to lead others, and from an early age they can be observed taking command of groups. In some cases, Fieldmarshals simply find themselves in charge of groups, and are mystified as to how this happened. But the reason is that Fieldmarshals have a strong natural urge to give structure and direction wherever they are -- to harness people in the field and to direct them to achieve distant goals. They resemble Supervisors in their tendency to establish plans for a task, enterprise, or organization, but Fieldmarshals search more for policy and goals than for regulations and procedures.

They cannot not build organizations, and cannot not push to implement their goals. When in charge of an organization, whether in the military, business, education, or government, Fieldmarshals more than any other type desire (and generally have the ability) to visualize where the organization is going, and they seem able to communicate that vision to others. Their organizational and coordinating skills tends to be highly developed, which means that they are likely to be good at systematizing, ordering priorities, generalizing, summarizing, at marshalling evidence, and at demonstrating their ideas. Their ability to organize, however, may be more highly developed than their ability to analyze, and the Fieldmarshal leader may need to turn to an Inventor or Architect to provide this kind of input.

Fieldmarshals will usually rise to positions of responsibility and enjoy being executives. They are tireless in their devotion to their jobs and can easily block out other areas of life for the sake of their work. Superb administrators in any field -- medicine, law, business, education, government, the military -- Fieldmarshals organize their units into smooth-functioning systems, planning in advance, keeping both short-term and long-range objectives well in mind. For the Fieldmarshals, there must always be a goal-directed reason for doing anything, and people's feelings usually are not sufficient reason. They prefer decisions to be based on impersonal data, want to work from well thought-out plans, like to use engineered operations -- and they expect others to follow suit. They are ever intent on reducing bureaucratic red tape, task redundancy, and aimless confusion in the workplace, and they are willing to dismiss employees who cannot get with the program and increase their efficiency. Although Fieldmarshals are tolerant of established procedures, they can and will abandon any procedure when it can be shown to be ineffective in accomplishing its goal. Fieldmarshals root out and reject ineffectiveness and inefficiency, and are impatient with repetition of error.

<div>Thank you everyone for your thoughts on crapola day from last week. It did make me smile to see people that care/d.

Today has been a much better day, our car was fixed, and it was under warranty, so it was cheap! It rained in the morning and cooled things off, I played with my puppy in the rain and got totally covered in mud and grass. I found a new stang in the wood pile, and got the new blade in the circular saw finally to cut it from it's branch. I found a new program to play with, yeah for Flash! :) And my sweet boys helped me scrub the floors this morning.

It occurs to me that the full moon is only two days away now, and it is a lot closer than the ick of Mercury, so hopefully we will have a grace period of repose until it passes into the first crescent on Sunday. </div>
